Thanks royal style fans for the thread title!
We need banquets, some diplomatic visits and more weddings. Oh and more of gorgeous Charles (you know the one I mean!)

Kate visited UCL today in a Zara dress. I like her shoes and earrings.

Lovely shoes 😍
hopeishere · 05/10/2021 18:27

I love those earrings!!

Serenster · 05/10/2021 18:33

I love that Zara dress, but would probably lose the neck bow. Love the shoes.

We should have another royal wedding coming up soon, but who knows if we’ll get pictures. The Emperor’s niece, Princess Mako, is due to marry her fiancé of 3 years, Kei Komuro, on 26 October but it’s all quite controversial.

Ostensibly, the Princess opted for a long engagement after the initial wedding announcement in 2018 on the basis that they might be too “immature” to get married (she was then 27). The press reports that actually both the Imperial Household (Japan’s version of the men in grey suits) and the Japanese public don’t think he’s a fit husband for a Princess, partly because he’s not personally rich, and partly because his mother was having a financial dispute with her former fiancé (the former fiancé claims he lent he money when they were engaged, she claims it was a gift). Anyway, this was apparently enough for them to lean on the Princess to call the wedding off, but she refused and would only delay it.

Anyway, three years later he has obtained a law degree in the US and a job with a US law firm, and he and Mako are still determined to get married, and so are doing so in the face of official opposition. She’s forgoing the financial settlement normally bestowed on princesses marrying and leaving the Imperial household, won’t be having the traditional farewell ceremony to say thank you to the Emperor, and she and her husband will be living in New York. So we’ll have a Japanexit next up… Grin

Here’s the couple when they first announced their engagement (he apparently has horrified the Japanese Daily Mail readers by returning from the US with a pony tail) I wish them very well!

Good on Mako! I remember when the marriage was originally postponed and I assumed they'd split up since. I can imagine the Japanese court officials make the British men in grey look like chilled out dudes!

AppleKatie · 05/10/2021 19:05

Found you all again, I’ve been MIA for awhile but it’s nice to catch up with some pictures, thanks for posting them.

AdaColeman · 05/10/2021 19:51

I like Kate's Zara grey check dress, she’s worn it previously I think. It’s a useful work day dress for her, I like the lightly pleated skirt and the bit of fullness in the sleeves.

No doubt Mako will be following in Harry’s footsteps, and bringing out a block buster best seller “all secrets revealed” book, which will go down a storm in the States!

MotherofPearl · 05/10/2021 19:53

I like Kate's dress but am less keen on the shoes. I think a colour would have worked better, maybe dark red.

Interesting about the Japanese princess. From what I've read on here and elsewhere, the Japanese court is stultifyingly rigid.

latedecember1963 · 05/10/2021 20:02

Kate's grey shoes are just 💖💖💖
I hope Mako and Kei have a long and happy marriage too.

GrouchyKiwi · 05/10/2021 20:03

I love Kate's dress and would wear it. Love the shoes too, but agree that something more fun like MotherofPearl's suggestion above would have looked lovely. I'm sure she has some oxblood-coloured shoes that would have added interest.

paradyning · 05/10/2021 20:30

I think CPM has the oxblood version of those shoes!

MotherofPearl · 05/10/2021 21:10

Max and Wax have attended the wedding of an Austrian count. She looks great in the blue Carolina Herrera.

The Danish RF have been to the opening of parliament. I like CPM's dark red velvet accessories and her brooch.

Oh I love that blue dress of Max’s - she wore it to a Scandi birthday party a few years ago with a sapphire tiara and I always wanted to see it again.

AdaColeman · 05/10/2021 21:33

I quite like Max in her asymmetrical dress, like all her clothes she’s making a statement there!

Not sure about the guest in the droopy full length powder blue though, is she auditioning for the Virgin Mary in the school nativity play?

MotherofPearl · 05/10/2021 21:43

I think the droopy blue dress belongs to the MOTB! It is rather Nativity Mary.

Actually I got it wrong. It's the Austrian count's daughter who got married. The parents of the bride (presumably pictured here) are friends of Max and Wax.

Eaumyword · 05/10/2021 22:55

Ooh I LOVE that asymmetric blue dress, it's gorgeous! Didn't Diana wear a stunning halter gown that was a similar blue pattern with pale pink?
Agree Ada and Mother, that powder blue gown is a 70's vibe best left well alone! It would have been fine without the super high neck I think, although it's a tough act to outshine Max.

Serenster · 06/10/2021 10:32

Is this the one you are thinking of, @Eaumyword? (I totally remembered this dress as one-shouldered, not strapless, but the photos don’t lie!)

MotherofPearl · 06/10/2021 12:51

But she did have at least a couple of blue one shoulder dresses.

KillingMeDeftly · 06/10/2021 14:04

That second blue dress of Diana's is one of the best she ever wore. So simple and she looked stunning.

eggandonion · 06/10/2021 14:26

I'm not sure about the first one though!

shrugshrug · 06/10/2021 15:10

I really disliked Diana's hair in the photo Serenster posted. I think she changed hair stylist at one point, sadly,as the new guy gave her a very "mumsy" style. I'm not explaining it very well. Blush

I love her hair style in the first photo MotherofPearl posted of Diana in the blue patterned one shoulder dress.

KillingMeDeftly · 06/10/2021 16:43

I thought Diana was at her style zenith in the year or two before she died. Some of the clothes she wore then would still look good today, unlike the 80s monstrosities.

MotherofPearl · 06/10/2021 16:48

I agree Deftly. And agree with Shrug about that hairstyle - the tightly curled helmet look was not good.

gingercat02 · 06/10/2021 16:50

Sad to see how thin Diana was in the first photo. So boney, when you compare that to DoC who is very very slim but obviously strong, fit and healthy
