I don’t pay attention to the ‘value’ that companies claim but I don’t want to pay more for the calendar than the total of the products that I really want. JL is the only one that just meets it for me. I’d be paying for a few of the full sizes I really want (serums and bath oil) with the rest being a bonus.

Is Cosmetopia on Instagram or YouTube? I haven’t come across her.

YouTube. I don’t use Instagram or follow anyone else (don’t trust bloggers) but someone posted one of her videos on here and it was refreshing.
AprilLady · 17/09/2021 21:37

@AnnieSnap, she is on You Tube. If you can, find her spoof advent calendar video from last year. It was fantastic!

AnnieSnap · 17/09/2021 21:47

Thank you @gratedbeetroot and @AprilLady

PomRuns · 17/09/2021 22:15

@Chickydoo @MoonahStone how much was the blue light discount?

Chickydoo · 17/09/2021 22:20

@MoonahStone £30

PomRuns · 17/09/2021 22:33

That's a great deal !

BeaLola · 17/09/2021 22:47

@BurningTheToast

Side bar to the advent calendars, but thanks to whoever flagged up the Liberty beauty edit - I've just tried the Votary cleansing oil and I think I may now be spoilt for all other cleansers!

Also not getting the Space NK advent, so do budge up a little on the chaise...

Votary cleansing oil is soo lovely - worth checking out their website as they do have discount offers etc

@PomRuns discount was £30 which I will be putting towards the M&S calendar!

@JasonMomoasgirlfriend from one rhubarb lover to another I need to highly recommend Aldi's rhubarb handwash - it's a super of Milton Brown's but is better than the MB one

Also jo loves has a rhubarb perfume in the Zara emotions range which is lovely

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 18/09/2021 13:06

@buckeejit ohh thanks for those tips! Sound fab!

notangelinajolie · 18/09/2021 14:59

I've decided on Rituals.

I've not really paid Rituals calendars much attention in the past. Does any one know if they are one of those calendars that sell out really early on? Hoping to hold out till pay day but I'm worried they will all go.

LizzieMacQueen · 18/09/2021 15:08

@notangelinajolie You can pay by Klarna I noticed if waiting until payday will stress you out.

Thanks Lizzie, I'll have a look.

Just been looking at this site. Apparently No7 are doing two calendars this year, one for £47 (contents worth £184) and a larger one for £120 (contents worth £385). I’m waiting to see what’s in the smaller one as I have Advantage points to spend. Not seen any other advent calendars on the Boots website that take my fancy. Might just save the points and spend them on perfume instead of No7 is no good.

Has anyone had LF one delivered?

I'm concerned because I got an email saying 'review your purchase' and I have not ordered anything for months from them other than advent calendar

gratedbeetroot · 18/09/2021 19:20

I haven’t ordered one from them but don’t worry too much as I’ve had those emails from other companies before I’ve received items - and even before collecting click and collect items, when their systems must know that I haven’t picked them up yet.

CountryCob · 18/09/2021 20:04

Interesting that No7 are doing something different, at that price I assume will be mostly full size? May be a stretch for boots to be more than some of the popular multi brands. I love Cosmetopia she is amazing

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 18/09/2021 21:46

I am wondering whether the Boots one would be easier to pick up in store, what with all that about the waiting list and it always selling out. Won't be the solution for everyone but I would probably be able to go to my nearest Boots first thing the day it's out in stores and go into work slightly late. I haven't had it before but it sounds like good value.

Look Fantastic should do a dispatch email, and IIRC they don't start dispatching till after it's been on sale for a week or two. I think @withiceplease it's as @gratedbeetroot says and the review email is a glitch.

SocksAndTheCity · 18/09/2021 21:50

I'm wishing I'd ordered the F&M one to pick up instore after I read here somebody got a lovely sturdy bag to bring theirs home in Grin.

@TheDuchessOfMN I had an email from Space NK earlier to say my calendar has been dispatched and will arrive on Tuesday, so it looks like that other one we got was a glitch alright Smile.

LoveLabradors · 19/09/2021 13:37

I’m getting the Fortnums calendar for my birthday, very excited about it. I deliberately chose one without make up as none of shades in Cult etc suit me. I love a good GWP but rarely have ended up with the right shade of lipstick or eyeshadow sadly. So for me everything in F&M will be usable. It’s my first expensive calendar. I’ve never been tempted before as prefer to purchase things that I need/want when a good GWP is on. Looking forward to return of M&S and I did get the ASOS one (the last one!) for a great price this week - the pawpaw lip gloss looks to be the only thing I won’t use. I too am tired of the usual suspects in GWP’s and advent calendars - the REN tonic, eyeliners, NARS and Margaret sodding Dabbs (overhyped and very poor in my opinion). John Lewis does look like good value if the make up shades are suitable (sadly not for me).

PomRuns · 19/09/2021 15:55

@LoveLabradors I’ve ordered fortnums too.
I do agree with your list especially silly Margaret Dabbs and the Ren.
The make up colours sadly rarely suit me either. There was a lovely hourglass glitter eyeshadow in Liberty last year.
