Bum! I forgot it ended at midday today. No skirt for me then - I'll concentrate on finding places and times to wear my lovely new denim dress!

applecatchers36 · 13/09/2021 16:48

Sale shopping arrived, keeping the gray/blue jumpsuit which are more like Dungarees and the apple cardigan. Tried the Micro Gingham jumpsuit and it wasn't quite what I expected, the fabric is thin and I thought it would be thick cotton. It arrived very crumpled and would need a good iron. Can't work out when I would wear it as not smart enough for work but my home attire with small children cannot accommodate ironing so going back, although it is lovely and if I had another lifestyle would be tempted. Quite relieved to have scratched the itch but not spend!

FiddleFigs · 13/09/2021 17:30

The green poplin jumpsuit is going back - just not a good fit for me. Thinking I might instead go for the denim workwear dress - I’ve been tempted for a while and know I’ll wear it a lot in the coming seasons.

ToastCosILoveIt · 13/09/2021 21:02

Well the green/black jumpsuit is going back from here too. Much too low cut around the bust (under the arms and at the back) and also tight on the bust but loose everywhere else. This was a size 12 for me, a busty size 12.

I am keeping the pintuck cotton top: luckily I had tried it on in store and knew to order the 10 as it comes up big. It is very nice for the weekend with jeans.

@Bakingtraypan thanks for the review of the shirt but sorry that my question has led to you reconsidering and sending it back Grin
Ooh I liked the look of the pool in jumpsuit but sounds like there are issues for all with the cut. Where does it fall to on the leg?

Saurus72 · 14/09/2021 16:43

I popped into Toast earlier to try on a few things - I thought I’d take some pictures in case it’s helpful to anyone wanting to see them on a real person. I’m a real life size 14, 5ft 6 tall.

Firstly, the mini check dress I’ve been covering. It’s a huge no for me - the rounded shoulders without a seam made me look like a rugby player which isn’t the look I’m going for… I tried a size medium which was enormous as you can see.

Next I tried the crinkly blue checked dress - OK but I didn’t feel compelled to buy it. This is a medium

Finally, the linen cotton pinafore dress in navy. I have the denim version of this which I wore to death in the winter. The smallest size they had was a 14 which was quite roomy - I’m interested to try it in a 12. £195 though! So I didn’t buy anything - the harlequin dress should be waiting for me at home when we get back tomorrow so v interested to try that. Hope this is useful!

Really helpful @Saurus72. I really like the crinkly dress.

AmethystMoonShine · 14/09/2021 17:08

Yes I also think you look lovely in the crinkly dress @Saurus72. The pinafore looks good too.

faustina · 14/09/2021 17:18

Another vote for the crinkly dress from me! It's understated but nicely different. I think I saw the assistant in my local Toast shop wearing it too, and she looked great. thanks for the pics - it is really nice to see things on a real person

applecatchers36 · 14/09/2021 17:28

Crinkly dress is definitely the winner looks comfy yet elegant on you ...

Here is the sale apple cardigan with cotton twill Gabi's, excuse the smudgy mirror

I really like the neck on that cardigan @applecatchers36

Laska2Meryls · 14/09/2021 20:06

I really like the crinkly dress, Saurus...
My sale stuff has arrived at my Dads but I wont be able to claim it for two weeks sadly... We are away in our van in Scotland...beach side site and its gorgeous here.

Ooof that view is worth missing your Toast parcel for @Laska2Meryls

I like the check dress on you too @Saurus72

I seem to be the only one keeping the green poplin jumpsuit. It’s full length on me (5’3) and the waist and bust is way too loose, but I will wear it with a fitted turtleneck and thermal leggings underneath in autumn, with DMs. In summer, I will pop a racer back black vest underneath (otherwise a lot of bra will be on show, and I’m not young enough to pull that look off)

I am completely in love with the cut of the bottom half, and the print. It’s too cool to give back!

AuldFox · 14/09/2021 20:57

Anyone wondering about the sizing: I kept the size 10. The size 8 was much better fit on the waist but my bust was too big. Im a 6 in most Toast dresses, unless they are very fitted. The poplin jumpsuit has very little difference between the bust and waist circumference, so clearly designed for the straight up and down figure. Anyone with a bust (me!) will have to size up and wear loosely.

AFingerofFudge · 15/09/2021 08:14

Morning all, sorry I haven't been on for a while, not much Toast news to report. I resisted the sale, knowing that any money I spent now would mean less available for any new stuff coming up in October!
I did however buy the green needlecord skirt when I was in JL recently. I've put it away for now for proper cold days but I look forward to having a skirt to wear this autumn/winter. I've been scared of skirts for a very long time but have bought (and worn loads) 2 Kemi Telford skirts this year and absolutely love them. Plus I suffer from chub rub (which ridiculously feels wrong as I don't feel I'm carrying much extra weight) but I have found that Snag Tights have chub rub shorts and so I've been sashaying around happily in skirts this year.

Popplebop · 15/09/2021 11:37

Hi all, always read the thread but don’t always post as I try not to buy… I also ordered and am keeping the green/black jumpsuit. I am also 5ft3 and it is a neat fit on top half and perfect from waist down. I can get a fine polo underneath for winter. @Auldfox - like the idea of a racer back vest under it in summer! Ordered some pjs but they are always successful so I knew I would be keeping them.

faustina · 15/09/2021 19:24

This isn't really toasty in any way, but has anyone ever knitted anything by Marion Foale? I fell down an internet rabbithole yesterday and found she designs the knitwear for Margaret Howell which I've long coveted. I'm going to attempt one of these

@faustina that’s lovely - knitting seems unfathomable to me so envious of people who can do it!

Very happy to come home from our few days away to find the fabled harlequin dress had been delivered. I really love it and am keeping it ☺️

applecatchers36 · 15/09/2021 20:44

Gorgeous print and shape on you Saurus can see why your keeping it!

savvy7 · 15/09/2021 21:36

I ordered the Ikat top in the recent sale and it is lovely. I also ordered the green (highly rated,) dress and it is a disappointment. Too tight on the bust and too full a skirt - the material isnt great either.

savvy7 · 15/09/2021 21:39

Does anyone know what happens with unsold sale items? I can see that the fading summer sale items are no longer on the website

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 15/09/2021 21:51

After seeing that crinkled check dress on you @Saurus72 I’ve decided it’s so nice I’ve had to order it. I ordered the small even though the website recommended a medium. I’m a busty 12 so hoping it will fit, all the reviews also suggest it’s very over sized.
Couldn’t only order one thing so I’ve also got the wrap denim skirt coming.

Has anyone bought the Mila Bolete dress? I’m not really a 'yellow' person but I love the print, but at £170 I’m a bit hesitant.

Saurus72 · 15/09/2021 22:06

Ah very glad it was useful @Theteapotsbrokenspout. I have the denim wrap skirt too, haven’t worn it yet but it’s really lovely. Am planning to wear it with tights, and a jumper when it gets a bit cooler - peak Autumn outfit, can’t wait 😊
