I’ll usually get bits from

John Lewis
Marks and Spencer
Mint Velvet
Sometimes, Phase Eight and Next

I’m looking for suggestions for online shopping that I don’t know or are unknown.

Thanks.

Primark & Tesco for basics!

Gonnagetgoing · 02/09/2021 13:24

Just turning 50 next week.

Forgot to say the odd gem in Primark but getting less and less.
ASOS sometimes - again less and less nice stuff.

SiobhanSharpe · 02/09/2021 13:38

Tu clothing at Sainsbos is great, especially underwear. Half the price of M & S. A few years ago they had a collaboration with Gok Wan and i bought a fairly basic black cardigan. But the compliments i've had when wearing it -- it's not long and droopy, just normal length but with pretty buttons and an unusual knit.
Also 'Mumsnet Swears By' recommendations! They're quite often reduced too.
Apart from that -
Seasalt
Lands end
Safari, if I'm pushing the boat out.

Purpleavocado · 02/09/2021 14:59

I just ordered some shortish dresses from Joe Browns (nothing too mad), loads from M&S, some Boden and Hush.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 02/09/2021 15:35

Massimo Dutti
Jigsaw
Cos
John Lewis
Brora in sale (though quality inconsistent)
Cefinn for workwear - not cheap ( to put it mildly) but mainly washable, so no dry-cleaning costs.
Toast

Hush very occasionally because a lot of their stuff falls apart after 5 minutes.

God knows, I'm not fashionable, but I draw the line at Joules and Seasalt - both very ageing IMO.

Edmontine · 02/09/2021 16:04

I sometimes see an item from Cefinn that might suit a friend or acquaintance with milder tastes than mine - but then I think of all the European stores from which I can no longer order easily, post-Brexit. And all my European colleagues and former fellow students - thrown into uncertainty and disarray. And I remember how drab England was before we became European.

So I couldn’t bear to put a single penny in the Cameron’s pockets.

Did Samantha Cameron call the referendum? I must have missed that.

Blaming women for men's actions is misogyny.

Gingerwarthog · 02/09/2021 16:21

Agree with poster who said that M and S has upped their game recently. Three generations of my family got stuff from there last week - a coat for my Mum, skirt for me and rather fabulous leather/ sheepskin jacket for DD.
