Can’t see a thread so I thought I’d start one. Yes, it’s unbelievably early, but I noticed Glossybox have already revealed their Advent Calendar contents for this year. Saw this reveal on YouTube this morning:

Have to say it doesn’t wow me, but there’s plenty of time and many more Advent Calendars to come, I’m sure! Grin

I feel like CB is missing a trick if people are buying F&M on the off chance they won't be able to get the CB but then I imagine it will sell out anyway.

I really am not sold on anything yet but I think I will want M&S as it's usually good value.

clary · 04/09/2021 19:54

I hear you @BunnytheFriendlyDragon but agree, it will surely sell out. It's not really on the off chance - I have been humming and hawing between the two to be fair.

If I could replace some of the room sprays in F&M with a few choice make up items (the palette? the flicky eyeliner) from CB we'd be set :)

Giftwithpurchase · 04/09/2021 20:04

Am now thinking about Yesstyle .. it looks quite fun and quirky and at least it's a bit different. Maybe that, Lush (if it goes in the sale!), M&S and Degusta...!!

namechange7865 · 04/09/2021 20:06

I'm genuinely just thinking of spending £200 on things I know I love and have wanted to try and put them in a box for myself! I know I won't get as much but at least il use it all!

goose1964 · 04/09/2021 20:21

Cath Kidston has already sold out. I ummed and aahhd yesterday and when I decided to go ahead they'd sold out.

This is the problem.

Theirs is coming our so late compared to others, I don't want to bank on it. Space NK is my second choice. But I don't want to miss that and the CB one.

I don't even really want the F&M one but want to order it, so at least I have one.

I am worried if I wait until the space NK one comes out, if I miss then try and go for the F&M one, that one might be gone then I am hoping I manage to get the CB one.

I don't mind having 2. Any combination of F&M, CB and Space NK. But can't really justify all 3.....or can I? 😱

Offredismysister · 04/09/2021 20:39

I’m wondering whether to get the diptyque, if they’re doing one this year. I love the candles & some of the perfumes.

Sounds like we could come to am arrangement here. The flick eyeliner is a definite dud for me. The eye palette looks lovely but looks similar to colours I already have. I quite like the notion of a room spray. But yes, multiple room sprays is a bit excessive.

The two mascaras in CB is a bit much too. I counted mine today - I have 10! As my mother would say - that should see me out.

I saw loads in Costco if you have a card?

oooh could be a swap coming here :) sounds like a plan!

@clary - all we need to do is buy the calendars nowGrin

BakeOffRewatch · 04/09/2021 22:50

I really like the Bobbi Brown one, I think I’d use all the products up. Not seen it discusses here yet, what are people’s thoughts? beautyadventcalendar.net/bobbi-brown-advent-calendar-2021/

I had the Space NK one a few years ago when they first became a thing, I then just had lots of little bits cluttering my cupboard! So I’ve been put off since. Brands I like don’t tend to be in them, like Laura Mercier, NIOD, Kevyn Aucoin. So I’ve stuck to waiting for the Christmas gift sets individual brands do and instruct DH where to go after work on launch days Grin. I love the idea of an advent calendar though and really enjoying this thread!

I don’t like that The Ordinary features in Cult Beauty and Space NK.

StiffyByng · 04/09/2021 23:18

Just found you all!

But I have to say, as a previous committee of multiple expensive calendars, I’m just not feeling it this year. We’ve just moved house and the quantity of unused stuff was shaming. I gave a pile of stuff to a friend (who knows what it was ‘worth’) and the rest is in boxes as I’m determined to get through it, but can’t possibly get more. I’ve also seen virtually nothing that’s really excited me in the big hitters and a lot of repeats and godawful black eyeliners.

If M&S is a similar price to usual, I’ll get that with the kids’ Christmas PJs so I’ve got something to open.

I did get Diptyqe last year and liked the products but it’s not that exciting to open (‘a candle!’) in the mornings. I am waiting to see what Sniph offer as I get their monthly subscription and enjoy it a lot. I’ve binned all my other beauty subscriptions as they’d got so repetitive and the quality was dropping too.

Hekatestorch · 04/09/2021 23:25

Is there a recent thread for subscription boxes, I was considering it. But heard a few people saying quality was poor, just like you @StiffyByng

I quite fancy one. But no idea which one to get.

jay55 · 04/09/2021 23:33

@BakeOffRewatch the bobbi brown one looks good value. May well get for my sister. Thanks for the link.

StiffyByng · 04/09/2021 23:33

I had Look Fantastic and Birchbox. Birchbox had sent some decent bags recently instead of boxes, which I preferred to some of the content! I’d say overall LF felt very much ‘will this do?’ and neither had much new in them.

MidnightMeltdown · 04/09/2021 23:54

I inadvertently ended up with a look fantastic subscription box for 6 months last year.

You got a discount on the calendar if you signed up for a 3 month subscription, so I did that, and then they auto renewed it and I ended up with another 3 months that I didn't want!

It's put me off ever ordering from Look Fantastic again, so I'm glad that their calendar is dismal this year! I wasn't very impressed with the beauty boxes either, I mostly got a load of mini products and items that I didn't want or need. They aren't worth the money IMO.

Hekatestorch · 05/09/2021 06:29

Subscription boxes don't really sound that great.

I have just not been looking after myself that well and wanted to start doing it again. But have been out of buying beauty stuff for so long, I don't really know where to start. I thought they might be a good way of finding brands to try.

www.beautyqueenuk.co.uk/2021/09/the-white-company-advent-calendar-2021.html?m=1 The White Company Advent details.
@BakeOffRewatch There was a Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadow palette in the Space NK Advent Calendar last year.

PomRuns · 05/09/2021 08:05

@Luvacuppatea yes looks like a ton which if like. I might get the rituals cheaper one - be nice to try the range.

Coniferhedge · 05/09/2021 08:45

Lumene contents are up. Bit disappointed, I was hoping for a few more make up items like last year, but I’ll probably still buy it.

BurningTheToast · 05/09/2021 08:48

I like White Company products but I’m always disappointed with their calendars. The cost to value relationship isn’t great and size-wise they’re a bit sampler-size, just to sizes that they sell to the hospitality industry for holiday lets and hotels.

Still holding out for M&S I think.

Housewife2010 · 05/09/2021 09:09

I had the Lumene AC in 2018 & 2019. Both times I had some great makeup products which weren't available to buy in the UK. I bought them from Feelunique with a 20% off birthday voucher and other pick n mix and loyalty vouchers which really brought the price down. It's definitely worth signing up to Feel Unique's loyalty scheme.

Housewife2010 · 05/09/2021 09:15

I've just noticed that the Lumene doesn't contain the half size tinted moisturiser serum it usually contains which is excellent.

WellTidy · 05/09/2021 10:57

Could anyone recommend me a beauty advent calendar at the £50 mark? I usually buy three (for friends). Occitane and Rituals have gone down really well in the past. I am looking for one with v little make-up and more body products.

I’d 100% recommend the Rituals one, by the way. I think the products are excellent quality, good sizes and the range is great. I buy their whipped body cream and shower gel all year round. And I love the Reed diffusers.
