Leti chairing a Spanish Cancer research forum, I quite like the dress, although I'm not sure about a tweed look in July. I think the wedges will divide opinion.

Another view. I quite like the bag, it's Uterque. The dress is Aldophus Dominguez.

@BeaLola

Wow - takes me back - we went to my Aunt & Uncles to watch it & then afterwards my Mum & Aunt watched The Sound of Music - first time I had seen it - they were "lusting" after Christopher Plummer - my teenage self did an eye roll at how "old"he was Smile
Ah, the good Captain...
LadyEloise · 30/07/2021 11:59

Those feckin espadrilles Smile
They cut her legs in half.

Eaumyword · 30/07/2021 12:29

I love Leti's look yet again! Tweed is fine in Summer if you just call it 'Summer Tweed' Wink
But oh those espadrilles!Angry
Is it against the law for a royal to wear flats?!

MotherofPearl · 30/07/2021 13:09

Leti looks great as always, but even as a founding member of Team Espadrilles, I can see that these don't work here. They really do shorten her legs, and just look a bit odd.

gingercat02 · 30/07/2021 13:39

I don't get the general MN hate of heels. Fair enough not to want to wear them as a feminist choice or because you don't like the look or they hurt your feet or wherever reason. Some people, me included, love heels so maybe the Royals in general do, they certainly have the right lifestyles for them.

AdaColeman · 30/07/2021 14:06

I'm not keen on Leti's summer tweed look!

With its ragged fringe hem and overall skimpy look, the frock could have been run up from an old tablecloth, one that wasn't quite big enough!
I loathe those espadrilles too! So it's a rare thumbs down for Leti from me.

Maireas · 30/07/2021 15:11

@gingercat02 I don't think there's a general MN hate of heels, there's quite a variety of opinions on here. We on this thread have strong opinions on the style of various royals' footwear, be they espadrilles, stilletos or (oh yes) crocs !

Apologies for the swearing but the many Irish posters on these threads will know that fec*in isn't really a swear word in Ireland. It's an adjective in the rich tapestry of our Hiberno English.

Just in case anyone was clutching their pearls. 😉

I've lurked on these threads since Harry and Meg's wedding so I get the shoe angst here but on S&B there is an anti-heel vibe definitely

Maireas · 30/07/2021 16:05

Well, a lot of people on here seem to like them. I know there is an opinion that heels are a bit dated now. I personally don't like the spindly stiletto court shoe, but others differ.
As you can tell, the lovely Eloise is not a fan of espadrilles! Wink

@LadyEloise - never apologise for Hiberno English. It adds to the rich tapestry of comment Wink

Yes no pearl-clutching here either, despite my username! Grin

These are the Carolina Herrera shoes that Leti wore with the red dress recently, and a few times previously. They're my favourites! Gorgeous colour and very elegant.

Princess Anne has unveiled a plaque today, wearing pretty much the same 90s jacket posted by @merrymouse upthread (though admittedly this has long sleeves). Still wearing the glives too. Wink

Maireas · 30/07/2021 17:59

Actually, the jacket with long sleeves is better. Quite a neat fit. Dark glives again.
She loves those aviator shades! Something's funny!

I love heels, I just can't walk in them! Flats all the way here. But, as the royals get driven everywhere and aren't spending all day in them I think they make the most of it. Plus, I suppose the taller you are the more visible you are to the crowds.

MotherofPearl · 30/07/2021 18:14

I agree that this jacket looks much better on her. Partly it's the long sleeves, but also the shorter length.

Eaumyword · 30/07/2021 18:16

Big thumbs up for Anne's outfit today - fabulous!
