Now that I've claimed the Fife, someone else can take the cast-off Greville if they want it? Photo attached.

Any wear and tear, MotherofPearl?

That Valkyrie tiara (now known as the Winged Tiara apparently) is interesting, as it's only the bandeau that dates from the 1930s. The wings are actually removable brooches dating from fifty years earlier, so around the 1880s. It's a stunning piece!

Maireas · 04/08/2021 17:17

Thanks, Ada. I may wear the wings as brooches, but I'll probably keep them on the tiara for the time being.

I'd love the Meander tiara (Zara's wedding tiara) if it's still available. Please and thank you.

frugalkitty · 04/08/2021 20:48

As we're bagging tiaras, I'll take us off on another tangent and put claim to the church at Whippingham on the IOW as the venue for my next wedding (DH will be delighted). This was designed with huge influence from Prince Albert and is rather unique with its gothic style. Princess Beatrice was married and is buried here. Lots of royal links. While I'm at it, I'll claim Osbourne as my royal residence (just need to get it back from EH and persuade the Queen to let me have its contents) Grin

I'd claim Windsor Castle to go with my tiara. Nice area and I do like the town. Lots of parkland to the back. Not too big to heat in the Winter. Yes, that would do nicely!
If it's a no, I'd settle for Frogmore (House, not Cottage-which I think was possibly what might have been assumed when Frogmore was offered a couple of years ago..!)
I do like my own cottage to be fair, it's very pretty!

Maireas · 04/08/2021 22:13

I think you're right about Frogmore, @Eaumyword Wink!
I fancy Clarence House. Quite central, classic proportions. Plus a tunnel to Buck House (so they say).

I'm going to be greedy and say that as well as Osbourne I'll have Carisbrooke Castle too if nobody minds. It's always nice to have options.

MotherofPearl · 04/08/2021 22:39

I fancy the QM's old haunt, the Castle of Mey at Caithness. Spectacular setting; nice and quiet.

In fact, didn't we toy with the idea of a thread rendezvous at the Granary Lodge B&B Prince Charles has opened in the castle grounds? Grin

KillingMeDeftly · 04/08/2021 22:40

I don't know that I'd want any royal residence - apparently they're drafty and have dodgy plumbing! Having said that, Clarence House might be ok given that Charles is not exactly known for his frugality!

Charles in a pinny while he cooks a full English for the guests, Camilla behind the bar doling out the stiffest of drinks!
MotherofPearl · 04/08/2021 22:44

Exactly @KillingMeDeftly! We can all wear our tiaras of course. Something for us to look forward to when all this Covid carry on is finally over.

MrsFin · 04/08/2021 22:57

I like PC's cottage at Llwynywermod.

KillingMeDeftly · 04/08/2021 22:57

I bet you'd have no trouble sleeping after knocking back one of Camilla's drinks!

A beautiful castle, roaring fire, refreshments, convivial company - all of us wearing our tiaras!

I thought the Greville tiara was my favourite; then I saw the Josephine Faberge and it's certainly beautiful, but having looked through more Tatler posts, I have found my one true love, the Fife tiara. 😍

It was made for Princess Louise, Queen Victoria's granddaughter. The largest diamonds are in a swing setting, designed to catch the candlelight apparently. Amend your records of who has dibs on which tiara please @Maireas!

@MotherofPearl I'll duel you for this tiara! Absolutely stunning
StartupRepair · 05/08/2021 02:55

Nice plan. I'll be in the Devonshire.

latedecember1963 · 05/08/2021 05:15

The Devonshire tiara is absolutely beautiful, StartupRepair. I hope you also get a bonus timeshare of Chatsworth House for weekend soirees.

Maireas · 05/08/2021 06:25

This is my favorite, too. So elegant. Plus I like the association with Philip's mother, Princess Alice.
