Thought's on these shoes

I'm going to a wedding at the beginning of August. I have found the dress I will be wearing but am finding it harder finding the right shoes. I'm quite tall (5'10) so I rarely wear heals but I've seen these and thought they are quite nice and the heal isn't too high. I like that they look quite "vintage".

What are your thoughts?

I will attach a pic of the dress and shoes

I don't like them in black but I'm not the best judge.

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 21/07/2021 12:11

What colour do you think? I usually always wear black shoes as its quite a "safe" colour.

They look too heavy, clunky and old fashioned to wear with that dress.

Bagelsandbrie · 21/07/2021 12:13

I quite like the shape and can see what you mean about being vintage looking but personally considering it’s an August do I’d go for a colour - if they were navy blue velvet or something that would be amazing.

RaraRachael · 21/07/2021 12:15

I have very similar shoes I wear to work. I wouldn't think of wearing them to a wedding as they're too plain.

They come in quite a few different colours but I wasn't sure if any of them would go with the colour of the dress. I'll attach another picture

Agree
Bluntness100 · 21/07/2021 12:17

They look very heavy for that dress and a wedding.

Palavah · 21/07/2021 12:18

Far too heavy and clunky for an august wedding.

TalesOfDrunkennessAndCruelty · 21/07/2021 12:18

I like the style - I love Mary Janes - but in black they look too dark and heavy. What are the other options?

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 21/07/2021 12:19

This is what I'm struggling with, I'm really having trouble finding cute flat shoes. I usually wear chunky doc Martins and trainers. Any suggestions? I do quite like brogues but I'm guessing that wouldn't be right for a wedding?

No way the shoes are awful for a wedding. The dress is lovely tho Smile

Some nude mules like the dress pic,or block sandals/wedges would look lovely. Or a bright contrasting colour. Not black

Eleoura · 21/07/2021 12:19

Are you wearing that hat too? I can see the 'vintage' connection, but it looks more like a school mistress 'vintage' look with those heavy, black shoes.

I'd choose a strappy, lighter shoe for the dress- especially as its a summer wedding. Kitten heel, peep toe or anything just less chunky are still vintage. If you love the black shoes, keep them for winter and wear with a thick, coloured tights.

They're horrendous. So clumpy and old-fashioned and black leather maryjanes for a summer wedding is just plain wrong.

Something like these would be infinitely nicer, not too high and the right kind of retro/vintage vibe with that dress.

Your dress looks lovely. For an august wedding I would probably go for a nude sandal with a heel.

bookish83 · 21/07/2021 12:21

Even something v low like these

@bookish83 I agree....get some mules like the model is wearing. They are everywhere. Do not go for black. Have a lovely time

See I wasn't sure if sandals would be right for a wedding. I'll have another look

I quite like them but I'm worried that the heel is too high.

These would be perfect. Or maybe a wedge espadrille?
Blessex · 21/07/2021 12:23

I would say sandals are 100% fine for an august wedding.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/07/2021 12:24

Ditch the hat too x

Iwantcauliflowercheese · 21/07/2021 12:25
