William got so excited when England scored. Great to see.

chesterelly · 29/06/2021 18:44

Never thought I'd be quoting DH in style & beauty but he's pointed out thatGeorge's tie is American - the diagonal is going the other way than a UK tie. Who knew that was a thing? Not me, I'm guessing Kate picked it up in Ralph Lauren. I'd rather have seen him in an England shirt tbh or at least a white or red polo. I like Kate in the red blazer.

LadyEloise · 29/06/2021 18:45

I too think he's a bit formally dressed for a match but perhaps he wanted to dress up for his royal engagement.

Eaumyword · 29/06/2021 18:53

I agree @Maireas about Sophie's most recent looks-I like that dark green dress and the middle photo with pale cropped jacket and pale wide leg trousers.
I think Kate looks great in her red blazer and George is cute in his little suit. Agree he probably would have preferred an England shirt! Maybe it was political as they are generally representing the UK not just England? Or maybe the dress code was just smart casual tonight!Grin

hopeishere · 29/06/2021 19:33

That red blazer is hideous. I had something like that in the 80s

Gooseysgirl · 29/06/2021 19:50

What a thrill for George! Definitely one of the perks of being a prince 😄 I would have let him wear his England jersey though. I love red on Kate but that jacket is everything I hate in a blazer... brass buttons and double breasted 😆 sorry!!!

Eaumyword · 29/06/2021 19:53

I like it!
I'm at peace with my not cool-ness Grin

MotherofPearl · 29/06/2021 19:55

All the chat about Sophie’s chat led me down a rabbit hole. Here's a look at her best fashion moments:

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.townandcountrymag.com/style/fashion-trends/gmp22663499/sophie-countess-wessex-fashion/

I think these are three of her best looks. Like Eugenie, I think she really needs to avoid high necks, as she is quite bosom-y.

And one with her and Max! They do look a bit alike.

Are blazers with elasticated sweater sleeves on the high street yet? I’ve had my eyes peeled since I saw Kate in that Chloe one, but no luck so far. They seem the best solution to cuffs getting in the way since that Miami Vice style nonsense of rolling them up.

It’s the texture and the buttons that really made it look dated. No doubt DM will be billing it as an“homage to Diana” tomorrow.
AdaColeman · 29/06/2021 20:01

Is Kate's red blazer a left over from the 2012 Brit Olympic uniform? Top marks for rewear if so!

Maireas · 29/06/2021 20:04

Nice Sophie pics, @MotherofPearl, and I love her and Max! Sophie could wear that pink dress.
I like Kate's blazer, that strong clear red looks good on her.

Ooh, I hope so, @AdaColeman!

@MotherofPearl I think that photo is from the last Dutch state visit. Max seemed to bring joy wherever she went - even the Duke of Kent, who's always struck me as a somber chap, was grinning from ear to ear!
KillingMeDeftly · 29/06/2021 20:07

Apparently Kate's blazer is Zara and sold out so I guess it's on trend!

It must be a case of “If you remember it first time round…”!
frugalkitty · 29/06/2021 21:01

I'm another who thinks George should have been in his England kit, I'm sure he's got one. I went into our town today, was busy-ish but the only queue I saw was for Zara, they've got a sale on. I walked past and into the crispy creme shop next door Grin

Horsemad · 29/06/2021 21:02

I liked 4, 23 and 35 in the Sophie pics. I agree with a pp that she needs to avoid high necklines.

KillingMeDeftly · 29/06/2021 21:18

Tatler has the answer to the question we're all longing to ask - which royal family has the most expensive tiara collection?

Eaumyword · 29/06/2021 22:28

I had to google the Oriental Circlet tiara from that link, @KillingMeDeftly! Nice Smile
I'd have put money on Max being near the top for valuable royal jewellery, as she's always laden with jewels as big as gulls eggs!
Actually, my royal style questions are more along the lines of:
What underwear? Is it mummy pants for no vpl?
Diet and exercise?
Makeup tips and what 'tweakments' do they have?
How often do they have their hair done if not on 'duty'? I'd like to think hair goes in a ponytail and is forgotten about!

Her Maj met Nicola Sturgeon today at Holyrood, they were both dressed in light blue. HM gave the meeting her personal seal of approval by wearing her diamond and turquoise filigree brooch, which she only wears on rare special occasions.

She inherited this brooch in 1953 from her grandmother Queen Mary. It was given to Mary in 1893 as a wedding gift from her mother and father in law, the Prince and Princess of Wales (later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra).

With its long royal history, it is part of a group of items Her Maj reserves for occasions of special significance to her, such as her address to the nation during the pandemic when she also wore this brooch. I wonder if Nicola recognised the message being sent today?

CliffsofMohair · 29/06/2021 23:11

Sophie’s red and white polka dot patterned dress at the opening of a rare diseases unit was a literal dress choice.

MotherofPearl · 29/06/2021 23:24

You see, this is why I love this thread! Love reading about the history of HMQ's brooch, and then, like Eau, I've had a lovely time reading all about the Oriental Circlet tiara. Grin It's all so restful.

Maireas · 30/06/2021 08:07

I love a tiara browse! I think the House of Orange has a good collection, and who better than Max to give them all an outing?
Ada, HM uses her brooches as a coded language, doesn't she? She's got an amazing collection.
