Is this the brooch, Ada? She wore it when she addressed the nation on the outbreak of covid.

Yes, that's it Maireas, it's a beautiful piece!

LadyEloise · 30/06/2021 08:42

Do you think the Queen says "Angela, I'd like to wear the X brooch for that occasion." knowing instantly what is appropriate ?
or does she look at her vast display of brooches and choose one.
Does she have a room with all her "normal" jewellery in display cases so it's easy to see what she owns ? Smile

Maireas · 30/06/2021 08:50

Interesting, LadyEloise! As I understand it, Angela has a book with columns and tick boxes! Maybe it's on her laptop now, who knows. Anyway, when someone borrows a piece, she notes down the date and the occasion as well. The vault is below Buck House, although I like to think she keeps half a dozen spare in her handbag Wink

I always thought it was Holland and Luxembourg who had the priciest tiara collection. Closely followed by Sweden

SeaRabbit · 30/06/2021 09:07

The Dutch have some stonking big diamonds in their tiaras, and lots of tiaras, so I'd expect them to be the most valuable.

Some more fabulous tiara action here ladies. I baggsy Debo Devonshire’s sparkly piece

Eaumyword · 30/06/2021 15:56

I'd like to fight you for the Devonshire tiara, but since I'm not much of a scrapper, I'd happily settle for Marie Chantal's

mathanxiety · 30/06/2021 17:15

I hadn't realised that Meghan Markle's tiara contained opals as well as diamonds. For me, that one is the winner.

Maireas · 30/06/2021 17:29

Thanks for the link, @CliffsofMohair!
Bagsy the Heathcote tiara. I agree about Meghan's tiara, which I thought was stunning.
I also like the Westminster Cyclamen tiara. Please note that the current Duke is as yet unmarried...Wink

There was another Tatler link in that article. To a picture of Queen Mart in shades!

I have a book with a similar picture, and the caption reads "Her Majesty is wearing a pair of smoked glasses, to protect her eyes from the glare"... I never realised until then that they were called 'smoked' glasses!

HM with Anne, continuing Scottish week. They're in Glasgow. I think Anne's suit is very elegant, I'm not sure about the gloves. HM in a good shade of blue.

This is a monster of a tiara. It’s just a giant but lovely crown.

Isn’t the groom that man that went on to later marry a teacher at George and Charlotte’s school?

I think I've already established my claim to the Greville tiara with the matching 5-strand diamond necklace. I trust no one here will try to challenge me for it. Grin

CliffsofMohair · 30/06/2021 18:36

Noted MoP.

mathanxiety · 30/06/2021 18:52

Yes, the groom was Thomas van Straubenzee, now married to Lucy Lanigan O'Keeffe, and are parents to baby Mary.

Maireas · 30/06/2021 19:03

Noted in my Angela Kelly style ledger, @MotherofPearl

We're all ladies on this thread-plenty of tiaras to go round Wink

KillingMeDeftly · 30/06/2021 19:25

@Maireas I feel like Anne and the Queen should've swapped gloves.

Maireas · 30/06/2021 19:27

Yes! They picked up the wrong ones...

It is a monster and too big! Ama too far down her forehead (apologies I think we've discussed this one before)

One tiny kernel of knowledge I learned from wedding tv is that tiaras should be placed the same distance from the bridge of your nose as your chin is from the the bridge!

TriSarahTops · 30/06/2021 20:26

I think that’s a good shade of blue on Anne too. She looks really good.

GrouchyKiwi · 30/06/2021 21:16

I like that Anne is matching the flowers in Queenie's hat. I love that blue in HM.

I live near Alnwick and Missy Percy's wedding was such a beautiful day. The marriage not so much sadly. She looked amazing and is thankfully hopefully happily married to someone else with a little girl Bluebell
