Comfy sandals that don't rub

SecondhandTable · 31/05/2021 22:00

I mean I guess nobody can tell me if a particular sandal will rub my own individual feet...but I have this issue so often. I really struggle to find comfy ones that don't end up rubbing my feet in various places after an hour or so leading to blisters and whatnot. Often they feel fine in the shop and i only notice the issue after I've worn them for awhile. Does this happen to everyone?! Are there any good styles that make this less likely? I do have wide feet which is part of the issue I think. Although I have done the last two summers in a particular pair of sandals and yesterday it sudden started rubbing the top of one of my big toes and gave me a blister. I am pregnant so I'm assuming it's related to my feet being swollen with that, I dunno. I just want some comfy sandals!

Saltwater sandals are brilliant!

OldTinHat · 31/05/2021 22:04

Fit Flops - they're like walking on air!

Justmuddlingalong · 31/05/2021 22:05

Birkenstocks.

nordica · 31/05/2021 22:05

Art sandals are amazing, super soft leather. Amazon stocks them.

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 31/05/2021 22:05

Saltwater have never rubbed, even straight from the box. Last years too.

I came here to say fit flops too! No running. No blisters. And so so comfy. I live in mine for almost 6 months of the year.

New Look Plait Sliders - I've ordered the off white too as they are so comfy! They're only £19 today due to 20% off.

We don't have a car & walk quite a bit. I've had both of these brands in the past, both comfortable.

I live in my Birkenstocks in summer :)

I have a similar problem with trying to find comfy sandals. I can confirm the saltwater sandals don't rub at all (things like birkenstocks absolutely shred my feet) but I can't find any comfort in them as the soles are so thin and flat. No support whatsoever.

cocoloco987 · 31/05/2021 22:14

I have a pair of ugg sandals that are like walking on air and the straps are so soft.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 31/05/2021 22:18

I have these www.newlook.com/uk/womens/footwear/shoes/wide-fit-black-flexible-sole-cork-flatform-sandals/p/680076301 and they are the comfiest pair I own despite having lots more expensive options. New look wide fit just seem to fit my feet.
I have heard good things about vionics but they haven’t had my size on the styles or colours I’ve wanted. Next wide fit always come up too narrow for me. I have just bought some loafers from Hotter that seem to fit well so will be keeping an eye out for ‘younger’ styles from them.

FedNlanders · 31/05/2021 22:20

What style fit flops are the comfiest?

Thewishingchair123 · 31/05/2021 22:22

Echoing the recommendations for Saltwater sandals - I have wide feet with bunions and often have issues with shoes in general. I also have heels that tend to blister very easily. Got a Saltwater pair about 3 years ago and could literally walk miles in them. They are amazing. I got a rose gold pair that go with lots of outfits - just looking to replace this year as they do now have a few scratches but I have walked on rocky beaches/in the sea etc

Throughabushbackwards · 31/05/2021 22:24

I have fitflop Tia sandals, they are great, I can walk all day in them.

I have 3 pairs of these in different colors.

They’ve been comfy from first wearing and are very soft.

Slimmingstar · 31/05/2021 22:24

I buy walking sandals with Velcro fastening - they are super-comfy and I have 2 pairs that I think are perfectly acceptable fashion-wise. Not beautiful, but acceptable.
I can walk miles in them, they’ve never rubbed and they last and last.

My feet are like this too OP, it's a mare!!

I love my (albeit closed toe) cova fit flop sandals; and also my Vivienne Westwood gold leaf sandals... expensive but worth it!

SecondhandTable · 31/05/2021 22:27

Wow thanks for all the quick replies! Does anyone know where stocks the ones you've recommended? I really want to avoid buying online as I don't really know what size shoe I am even, seem to roughly be a 5.5 but sometimes a 5 and sometimes a 6! So really want to try on in store.

I find the lulu best as they accommodate my bunions and my high feet!
RaininSummer · 31/05/2021 22:29

Another vote for fitflops. Wore my sandals today for the first time and actually said it was like walking on pillows. .

Arbadacarba · 31/05/2021 22:30

I've got a terrible combination of wide feet and narrow back of heel which means sling-backs are a total no-no because they won't stay in place and blister my heel within minutes. Also, anything that has a hard sole will make the ball of my foot 'burn' very quickly. I've had a lot of failures with sandals. Birkenstocks in particular were a disappointment - cut my feet to shreds.

I find Fly London sandals really good if I size down one from my normal size.

Another summer option is light shoes such as Skechers (the Mary-Jane styles such as 'Bikers' rather than the trainer-style). Super-comfy and breathable, and look fine with bare legs and a summer dress.

ChelseaChop · 31/05/2021 22:35

Birkenstock’s are no good if you have long toes.

I like Tevas, I have a leather pair (classic style but thinner straps) and a prettier style in pink. Extremely comfortable especially walking long distances.

Thewishingchair123 · 31/05/2021 22:36

Office and Schuh stock Saltwater sandals. The style I got is the ‘original’. Saltwater advise to size up by one. I’m normally a UK 6 but bought a 7
