Comfy sandals that don't rub

I mean I guess nobody can tell me if a particular sandal will rub my own individual feet...but I have this issue so often. I really struggle to find comfy ones that don't end up rubbing my feet in various places after an hour or so leading to blisters and whatnot. Often they feel fine in the shop and i only notice the issue after I've worn them for awhile. Does this happen to everyone?! Are there any good styles that make this less likely? I do have wide feet which is part of the issue I think. Although I have done the last two summers in a particular pair of sandals and yesterday it sudden started rubbing the top of one of my big toes and gave me a blister. I am pregnant so I'm assuming it's related to my feet being swollen with that, I dunno. I just want some comfy sandals!

@Magpiecomplex the heavenly feet ones are pretty generous width wise . My daughter has narrow feet and she would be swimming in them. Mind are more standard/ wide with a massive bunion on one side and they’re just right .

Inspired by this thread, I have ordered the hotter tourist II sandals. They are coming next week, I have high hopes 🤞

I bought a pair of these sandals from Pavers recently:

They are the most comfortable sandals I have ever bought - very soft leather, spongy underfoot, a bit of arch support and straps that adjust in all directions to get a really good fit. Not the most fahionable, but I have narrow & flat size 2 feet and these are a real find for me.

I have v narrow feet, my arches have dropped and I can’t do heels due to a bad accident a few years ago.

After years of trying to find suitable sandals and only being able to wear trainers with orthotics I’ve found the following;

Birkenstock do a narrow fit, and combined with adjustable straps work well and are supportive.

I also have some vionics which I only wear in the garden as they look like something my granny would wear!

I have 3 pairs of the Hotter Tourist. They do a narrow version, which is excellent. But they are leather.

@SecondhandTable I just stumbled upon this very helpful thread as I was searching for views on whether the flat soles of Saltwater sandals are really comfy.

I’d love to know what sandals you went for in the end! It will be too late for you but I am a huge Merrells fan and wore these all round Pompeii at 27 weeks pregnant, insanely comfortable and not too ugly either.

If you are a half size, I'd avoid FitFlops - they only do whole sizes. I also found them wide fitting on my average width feet. Best to go to an actual shop to try on. Skechers are a possibility, if you can get to a Skechers store.

Doh!! Old thread!

I don't think it matters @BatshitCrazyWoman, OP can't be the only person in the world hoping to find sandals that don't rub!

I’ve found sandals made by Karrimoor are really comfy and as they’re designed for hiking they actually have grip which makes a huge difference on slippery surfaces.

Also Hotters and Sketchers can be comfy just be careful with sizing as Sketchers mainly use American sizes so be sure to double check

JaceLancs · 22/08/2021 22:19

I bought some very plain hotter sandals which are very comfy
Last week bought fit flops Barra sandals - so far seem ok

ChocolateRiver · 22/08/2021 22:21

Fit Flop sandals are the best I’ve every had. I got mine for a really good price on brand ally last year.

Sheerheight · 22/08/2021 22:43

I've had fitflops in the past. Currently have birkenstocks, skecher thin strapped sandals, Reiker sandals. Carl Skarpa.
All very comfortable.

WaverleyPirate · 22/08/2021 22:46

Hotter Tourist II Sandals - amazingly comfortable and perfect for wide feet.

MoltonSilver · 22/08/2021 23:10

Fit flops Gracie have a buckle so you can adjust the fit. I find them very comfortable.
