Men wearing rings other than wedding band

What do you think of men wearing rings other than a wedding band? DH wears a ring on his right hand ring finger. It’s something he was given when he emigrated from his home european country at 16 and has an emblem of that country. It’s not a family signet ring, it’s just a nod to his origins.

My friends and work colleagues thought DH was super posh and it was a family crest. This is because he has no hint of a foreign accent, and sounds quite posh. He hates the idea that people think he is snotty and wearing it like a signet ring!

I have no opinion on what jewellery anyone wears on whatever hand. Wear as much as you like!

cookiecreampie · 28/05/2021 14:38

I wouldn't think anything, probably wouldn't even notice.

MinnieJackson · 28/05/2021 14:39

I quite like the style of men wearing loads of chunky rings like Johnny depp and Jason momoa, I'm not keen on just one random thumb ring though lol

Serpenta · 28/05/2021 14:41

The posh boy rings are normally worn on the pinkie aren't they? I don't think I'd give the ring you describe a second thought. Having said that I do prefer minimal jewellery on a man.

Serpenta · 28/05/2021 14:42

although if I was with Jason Momoa I'd be delighted by all his jewellery Grin

Tehmina23 · 28/05/2021 17:53

I've met some men who wear 21st birthday rings.

Bluedelphinium · 28/05/2021 18:05

My very stylish male friend wears silver rings with matching stones in, some are quite flashy but with them all matching it isn't OTT and looks pretty cool

RosieGuacamosie · 28/05/2021 18:14

Tacky IMO. I know quite a few “posh” people (family included) and this is pretty much the opinion nowadays.

Blossomtoes · 28/05/2021 18:58

Mine’s worn a signet ring on his right ring finger since his parents gave it to him for his 21st birthday. I’ve no idea what other people think, nobody’s been rude about it anyway.

Mumoblue · 28/05/2021 18:59

My stepdad is a bit of a metalhead and has always worn silver rings and necklaces. I’ve never thought twice about it, really. Why not, after all?

Gurkangurke · 28/05/2021 19:06

I wear a ring containing my wife's breast milk below my wedding ring.

Do you have a placenta keyring too?

RosieGuacamosie · 28/05/2021 19:19

@Gurkangurke

I wear a ring containing my wife's breast milk below my wedding ring.
Why on earth?!
Blossomtoes · 28/05/2021 19:20

Oh dear.

🤮

MaMelon · 28/05/2021 19:26

Not my cup of tea - anything more than a plain wedding band and a watch on a man is a bit tacky imo.

MagicSummer · 28/05/2021 19:27

Yuck! And why do people say wedding 'band'? In this country, it is wedding 'ring' for men and women.
NautaOcts · 28/05/2021 19:31

Obviously men can wear what rings they want
But since you asked...
I wouldn’t consider a signet type or any ring really on the ring finger of the right hand as posh, I think it would be more likely to be lower middle class/working class.

Signet ring on the little finger of either hand - yes I’d associate that with poshness/being upper class or upper middle class.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 28/05/2021 19:50

I think Wedding Band is more said in Scotland for some reason.

But isn't that a Breast milk ring a foosty mini frube by now?

that is juice squeeeeeeezed from a person

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 28/05/2021 19:54

but back to the OP....I like a nice wide wedding band ring, maybe just looking slightly too big, long fingers, like that chap in the face/hand meme....yummy! Maybe Ryan Gosling??

PermanentTemporary · 28/05/2021 19:58

The issue isnt your partner's choice of jewellery, it's your family thinking it's ok to give someone a hard time because they are posh or supposedly posh.

For more information about the exact poshness of different kinds of signet ring, see 'Class' by Jilly Cooper which despite being 45 years old is still quite accurate in some things.

VettiyaIruken · 28/05/2021 20:00

I don't think anything about it. I don't give a shit.

ChilliHeeler · 28/05/2021 20:11

For some reason all I can think of is David from Schitts Creek and his many rings.
