A sudden 'it looks do dated' moment (make-up)

So facing my 51st year in a few weeks and have been struggling this past year with menopausal symptoms (now on hrt patches) and generally feeling blergh about my looks. Anyway, its make-up that's currently occupying me as fancy splashing out a bit but don't want to waste my money if Im not putting it on right. Im happy in the main with products I use (though am open to suggestions- love new recommendations) and use Mac, Charlotte Tilbury, Rimmel, benefit. Its the look I have all wrong I think- eye liner esp. Is liner on upper lid still a thing? Blusher on apple of cheek still? Lipliner? 🤣 Thoughts welcome!

Following as in the same boat. I’m fed up of buying things only to find they don’t really do anything for me. The look I like is Bobbi Brown’s natural look where you just enhance your natural looks. But I’m worried about buying online and it being no good and wasting alot of money. Could do with a makeover really but then I always feel under pressure to buy the stuff when I’m not completely sure. I wonder if I could find a picture online of the look I’m after and then just get them to copy it as close as possible?

I love eyeshadows but tend to go for sheerer ones, like the Japanese brands, shishedo do great quads, they're not much to look at but when you apply the they are gorgeous. They usually have 2 matte and 2 sheer/slight shimmer. I think matte eyeshadows can be quite unforgiving, I always prefer a bit of micro shimmer.

I think my next purchase will be eyeshadows. I'm impressed with the Maybelline Cils'sational Sky High mascara though. The lip and cheek tint has lasted well though I think I need to master putting it on properly.

I have just bought some Revlon creme eyeshadow (I got them on a good deal so bought a few colours)...

I think I need to get the hang of using them, as the top line brushed on is not staying put and transferring up onto the top above the crease. I looked like a panda yesterday......

Instead of lining with the cream why not buy a single powder eyeshadow in a liner shade and use that? I don't wear cream eyeshadow anymore as I live in a hot country and it melts and causes a right old mess.

Oh, you mean it's transferring. Are your lids hooded? I think you're better off using powder shadow then. Or setting it with translucent powder, or using eyelid primer.

Yes they are hooded unfortunately.

Whatever I line the top lid with is transferring onto the creme shadow on the lid, I don't think I explained it very well.

Damn and I just went an bought a load as saw on some youtube video that creme is kinder to aging eyes. But if it doesn't work out then no biggie as I picked them up really cheap. I didn't set with powder, so I will try that, thanks for the tip.

I'd try a primer first though, then you'll still keep the look of the cream eyeshadow.
