Do people moisturise their whole body after every bath/shower?

Or how often? And if so, with what? Have you any good everyday recommendations that are not too expensive, as I assume it takes a lot of product??
I have got very lazy with lockdown and don't think I have moisturised my whole body in over a year ...

I use Palmer’s fragrance free or Nuxe huile prodigieuse. With both of those a little goes a long way.

I'm soo surprised at the amount of people who don't. I wonder if it's a cultural thing?

I don’t know. I just don’t have dry skin, and when I do use body moisturiser it has to be light and easily absorbed otherwise it just sits on my skin and stays greasy.

I would like some recommendations for a non greasy, easily absorbed moisturiser.

I often use baby lotion, it's light and not at all greasy. I also like the green Vaseline lotion.

I'm surprised at the amount of people who do - why would you unless you have a skin condition. I don't have time, let alone disliking icky sticky greasiness.

RampantIvy · 16/05/2021 09:00

I'm surprised at the number of people who do as well TBH.

inmyslippers · 16/05/2021 09:07

Yes I think it may be cultural to some extent. Anecdotally; my non-black friends will spend ages on hair removal but would think moisturising a faff. Most black women I know have hairless legs or like me Only grow hair in the summer for some bizarre reason. So our shaving time is spent moisturising

^^ yes feel like I'm learning something new about white people. I always thought everyone moisturised.

I guess it is something most people don't discuss. Do black people really not need to shave their legs?

inmyslippers · 16/05/2021 12:48

Sadly I have to. not that I always do 😆

Abouttimemum · 16/05/2021 13:04

I have no need to moisturise after a shower. I use nivea on my face as it’s dry and hand cream as my hands are dreadful. I have eczema but my body skin is fine.

RampantIvy · 16/05/2021 13:32

I hope you didn't mind me asking @inmyslippers, but your comment prompted the question. It isn't something that would have occurred to me before.

CovidGroundhogDay · 16/05/2021 13:37

never. I don't even moisturise my face Grin

mermaidsariel · 16/05/2021 13:49

I asked up thread but can now no longer find my post about coconut oil. Do you have to melt it before using as a moisturiser?

ZenNudist · 16/05/2021 13:55

No but I don't have a skin condition so I can understand if you've psoriasis or something. I do give my legs a good rub with a towel occaisionally tò exfoliate dry skin. I also use some eczema treatment that is now out of date on my feet, it's thick and greasy like Vaseline. My feet get really dry. Sometimes put a bit on my elbow and knees, also use hand cream but not religiously.

JadeSeahorse · 16/05/2021 13:58

Yes, have done for years!

I shower every morning with a moisturising shower cream and then every night I take a bath using cream bath foam and then, after shaving, moisturise my whole body with Aldi Lacura body lotion.

inmyslippers · 16/05/2021 14:16

Not at all

JemimaMuddledUp · 16/05/2021 17:21

Yes. I have really dry skin and it gets itchy and flaky if I don't.

Echobelly · 16/05/2021 17:24

I do, I get very dry skin otherwise, although I just enjoy it as a ritual. I usually have two body creams that I alternate, and love trying new ones. Have learned to steer clear of citrussy ones though - they seem to bring me out in hives.

snowstorm2012 · 16/05/2021 17:39

Sanctuary Spa Wet Skin Moisture Miracle is great if you're lazy and can't be bothered to moisturise all the time (like me).

Just put it on after your shower (but still stood in there) then just dry yourself as normal - done. It feels like it'll come off or go all over your towel when you dry but it doesn't, it's great stuff 👍🏼

BabyPigeon · 16/05/2021 20:21

@mermaidsariel Why would you use coconut oil as a moisturizer when there are so many nicely formulated products available in different textures (lotions, gels, butters, yogurts even, balms, sprays, serums etc)? Coconut oil can be pore clogging. It solidifies at room temperature so if your scoop it out of the jar and rub it on your skin it will just melt on contact and turn into oil.

LuckyMcDucky · 16/05/2021 21:10

Yes, I do.

I use a body balm or moisturising bar from The Good Soap usually.

I feel a bit weird if I don't, as my skin is naturally quite dry.

honeybuns007 · 16/05/2021 21:21

@FeistySheep

No. Skin makes sebum - it moisturises itself. I use gentle soap, not shower gel etc, so the shower doesn't strip my skin of moisture.
How old are you? What race are you? Believe me, after a certain age your body does not produce enough oil. Black skin on the whole also does not produce enough and it very dry. Your experience is very much your own. Not for everyone.
Volcanoexplorer · 16/05/2021 21:32

No I don’t, I should though because be got dry skin. I just can’t be bothered though. When I remember to I use Ameliorate on my arms because it really helps my bumpy ‘chicken skin’.

I don't mind the Yellow Sanctuary Spa one. However, it doesn't save me any time. Which ever lotion/butter I use, I then sit in my towel drying my hair so I'm dry and most of the lotion/cream absorbed by the time I get dressed.
Gwenhwyfar · 16/05/2021 22:48

@legalseagull

Why would anyone do this unless they had a skin condition or dry skin?
I suppose to prevent it being dry in the first place just like face cream. My skin was normal when I was younger and I moisturised. It's dry now so I moisturise with richer products. Why wouldn't you is my question?
noblegreenk · 16/05/2021 23:02

No. I probably get round to it once a week/every 10 days. I don't have particularly dry skin though.
