Do people moisturise their whole body after every bath/shower?

Or how often? And if so, with what? Have you any good everyday recommendations that are not too expensive, as I assume it takes a lot of product??
I have got very lazy with lockdown and don't think I have moisturised my whole body in over a year ...

No.

Will occasionally slap some moisturiser on my legs and arms, and rarely on my torso.

Currently using some Nivea picked up upon France nearly two years ago.

@KizzyWayfarer

Surely you only need to moisturise your entire body daily if you have unusually dry skin? Otherwise the natural oils it produces do the job. I’ll admit here I know nothing about skin care if you’re not white and it might be different! But otherwise it feels like another unnecessary product sold to women to spend time and money to ‘fix’ their bodies/appearance. I don’t think anyone would be suggesting teenage boys learn to do it as part of self care.
This.

Yes, my skin is dry and it feels itchy

RampantIvy · 15/05/2021 15:58

Judging from the replies @ButtercupSquash some people have skin that really needs moisturising every day, and in some cases it depends on the hardness of the water where you live.

I am lucky, and don't have dry skin and tend to just do my legs after shaving and my arms and chest when I remember, but DH has a rare skin condition that means he has to moisturise twice a day every day.

I always moisturise my face, neck and feet though.

Vursayles · 15/05/2021 16:38

Yup fairly sure there is massive natural variation in the amount of moisturising oils (sebum) produced by people’s skin. Dry skin is definitely an issue for some people and is not just as a result of over-washing.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/05/2021 18:21

"I’ll admit here I know nothing about skin care if you’re not white and it might be different!"

I don't think you know much about skincare for white people either.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/05/2021 18:25

"Do you really get dry skin in places covered by clothes all the time?"

Yes.
Also, wind reaches your legs even when you wear trousers.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 15/05/2021 18:45

I used to need to moisturise after every shower otherwise I’d have lizard legs and I’d have skin dandruff in socks etc even though I used Sanex for sensitive skin. But now I’m using a soap bar (nuddy) and my skin is moisturised in the shower and the water sort of beads ( like when you’ve had the car waxed ) I can recommend.

RampantIvy · 15/05/2021 18:50

Yes. I'm inclined to think that people who use shower gel have been the victims of some really clever marketing. I have never been a fan of shower gel, and have always preferred to use soap. A gentle soap sounds like a far better option than shower gel.

AfterSchoolWorry · 15/05/2021 19:03

No way.

My skin is super dry, like parchment.

But I hate as despise the feeling of cold, greasy cream on my skin. I can't do it.

SwedishEdith · 15/05/2021 19:08

No. Sometimes might do lower legs after shaving but nowhere else.

inmyslippers · 15/05/2021 19:12

Yes

bugaboo218 · 15/05/2021 19:21

Yes twice a day everyday.

I use nivea soft in the mornings, as it absorbs quickly after my shower.

At night I use nivea cream in the blue tub after my bath or shower

. I find a big tub of nivea lasts ages, as a little goes a long way.

Yes usually. Spray on vaseline intensive care, used to be the aloe one but after being pregnant I can't stand the smell so use fragrance free, and use the proper squeezy bottle one for my feet.

inmyslippers · 15/05/2021 19:51

I'm soo surprised at the amount of people who don't. I wonder if it's a cultural thing? Moisturising skin is as normal and routine to us as brushing teeth.

HamAndCheeseToastie5032 · 15/05/2021 19:57

No, I don't need to. I'm just very smooth, I never get dry skin. I don't scar either, I don't have any stretch marks, I don't even get dry heels or anything like that really.

(Get me, I'm obviously a gift from the soft skinned gods Grin)

I do live in a very soft water area, maybe that helps 🤷‍♀️

frogswimming · 15/05/2021 20:00

Only baby oil on my legs after I shave them in the shower twice a week. I do use a cream with urea on my heels which stops them cracking as well.

I use Cerave moisturising lotion every day. Not always my full body, sometimes just the bottom of my legs, and my chest, neck and arms.

Silvercatowner · 15/05/2021 20:05

No - hate the feeling. I've never found a moisturiser that doesn't feel yuk.

Lovemusic33 · 15/05/2021 20:12

I use Palmers firming body lotion or their basic body lotion, mainly on my legs.

legalseagull · 15/05/2021 20:18

Why would anyone do this unless they had a skin condition or dry skin?

NaToth · 15/05/2021 20:26

I saw someone do this once and was completely baffled. I use bar soap in the shower, but only on the bits that matter, and so never need to moisturise, apart occasionally from my feet.

Sometimesonly · 15/05/2021 20:40

You're completely baffled that not everyone has perfect skin that doesn't need moisturizing? Confused
