Summer handbags

Start by saying I have an expensive bag habit! I have a nice collection but I realised the other day I have mostly dark winter colours - oxblood, navy blue, rust, tan. I know the tan will probably work in the summer but I'd like some lighter coloured bags.

What colour bags do you use in the summer? Any nice suggestions please?

I've seen those mentioned on here before.

Does anyone have the Osprey Ruby Cross Body Clutch? I really like the look of it, but hate how the site doesn't have photos of their bags on models. I see the illustration and it looks like a decent size for taking out on quick errands or to dinner.

Thoughts?

@bendmeoverbackwards then the solution is blindingly obvious isn’t it?? - buy a smaller purse to fit into the smaller bag (or is it just me who thinks this way...?)! 😊👍😉

Yes I saw that, but just wish I could see it on an actually person. I'm torn between two colours. I have so many bags it's ridiculous, and change and swap all the time so have stopped investing £££ in them. This one is a great price. I'm tempted to buy two. But then I got looking on the Zara website and found a few others that I like the look of as well 🤦‍♀️

This Osprey design is much more practical for day to day wear though. The Zara ones are lovely, but very summery and potentially only go with a couple outfits.

Thing is I love my purse. It’s from Smythson in the most beautiful shade of blue. Dh bought it for me and it has my initials on. I like to have all my cards, loyalty cards and cash all in one place.

You could make that your winter purse! Get a card holder instead. That will still easily hold all your cards. And a matching coin purse, In a cheerful summery colour to go with the new bag...why not throw in a new key ring/pouch as well!

Those of you who ordered from Osprey, how long did your bags take to arrive?

I have an Aspinal bag in Mandarin, a sort of marigold colour. It's lovely for spring summer.

Bloody kids. I've got a fossil leather backpack, I LOVE it. Can't even blame the kids anymore it's my go everywhere bag.

In my more civilised days I had a baby blue osprey tote for summer but I've got used to using my hands again.

My two favorite summer hand bags.
Both cheap as chips and the bamboo and rattan are perfect materials for summer bags.

I love the Aspinal mandarin colour way. I’ve valiantly resisted (on multiple occasions!) buying a little card wallet in that colour from them this month to be my summer purse for smaller bags, because I don’t strictly need it... I’ve stopped looking now because if I look again I might just buy it anyway!

@LaBellina I’ve been trawling eBay for little basket bags like yours, but, again, I’ve resisted because I don’t actually need one. I love them for summer.

I've got a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania huge canvas shoulder bag, which I've been using in the summer for about 6 years now.

Considering a smaller one for everyday though. I like the wicker ones which are about a lot at the moment, but not sure they'll stand the test of time tbh 🤔

*@Ninkanink it’s a lovely colour. I recently bought a bag in the sale from Hobbs in a similar colour. Haven’t used it yet, it’s quite a smart bag.

Wicker baskets are classic as long as you don’t go too trendy with them - they’ve been around for ages and they’ll always be around in some form or other.

But I’ve promised myself absolutely no purchases this summer unless I actually need them.

Yes I am sitting on my hands now...really shouldn’t not buy another one .
Love them with a black tshirt maxi dress, white top and linen pants, with a flower skirt...they match perfectly with every summer outfit. Zara sells now several types of them too.
