@Eaumyword

I loved it too *@WineGetsMeThroughIt*. I'm also puzzled by colours. I think Kate looks good in berry colours but then looks good in brights. Meghan looks good in a muted palette but then also looks good in brights. Is it just if you're very attractive, you generally suit most colours? Serious question!

I would say that an attractive person can pull off more things than someone considered less attractive. But I find it's often not until you put two pictures up side by side of the person wearing the colours that you can really sit back and see that one is not often their colour.

I am a summer and can also pull off some of the lighter shades of autumn colours, but not the strong ones and also not spring colours. Going back to that thought Kate never wears orange and I'm not sure about rust. But autumns really suit those colours and she never seems to wear them.

I do think she's gorgeous though so can pull off a lot.

I've read Meghan is a winter and I would agree with that. Strong deep colours look lovely on her

Eaumyword · 26/05/2021 12:06

True and no, I can't recall seeing Kate in orange. Maxima on the other hand is glorious in yellow/orange!
Would anyone be kind enough to suggest what I might be please?
Brunette (used to have naturally near black hair, lightened to medium brown over the years), hazel green eyes, pale skin with pink undertones and freckles. Burn in the sun. Look better with white gold than yellow gold. Dunno about the vein thing, they look green AND blue!
Gravitate towards clear colours and brights, but occasionally come over all Angelina Jolie with neutrals.

Sounds like you could be a winter? Although many will say that winters don't have freckles. But I think there's exceptions to every rule. Silver tones suit cooler skin tones which a winter is.

Winter and summers are naturally very pale and find it hard to tan, but they burn easily. Summers generally have a low contrast of their features. Light hair and pale light skin. While winters have a higher contrast. Dark hair and lighter skin. Bolder colours for winters generally although there are some icy pastels in their colours too. Summers are softer muted colours like pastels.

Autumn and springs tan very easily.

Eaumyword · 26/05/2021 12:17

Really interesting, many thanks!

LadyEloise · 26/05/2021 12:25

*@K*illingMeDeftly I thought Kate was an Autumn too but on a few seasonal colour clothing websites it's said she's a Summer.
Certainly the camel didn't suit her colouring.
I'm still trying to work out what I am. Between a Spring and a Summer.

frugalkitty · 26/05/2021 13:11

In House of Colour circles it's generally accepted that Kate is a summer.

LadyEloise · 26/05/2021 14:09

Hence the camel not a great colour for her.
It can look lovely on blondes.

Bloodyfuckit · 26/05/2021 15:06

Kate wearing a Holland and Cooper blazer today.

SenecaFallsRedux · 26/05/2021 15:16

@KillingMeDeftly

There's been a royal wedding! Kind of. The groom's father is the Duke of Alba but I'm not sure if that's a real title or just a courtesy one these days.
I think it is recognized in Spain as a real title. There is a British connection as well. The surname of the Dukes of Alba is Fitz-James Stuart, a recognition that they are descended from James II and his mistress Arabella Stuart, sister of the first Duke of Marlborough, which if my memory of the Spencer-Churchill family tree is accurate, makes the Duke and his children distant cousins of Diana, Princess of Wales.
iknowimcoming · 26/05/2021 16:50

Loved the video on Instagram of the little lad asking Kate 'are you a prince?" Bless!

Eaumyword · 26/05/2021 17:36

Yes, adorable Smile
I like how natural Kate appears to be with children.
Seneca, I do enjoy your insights into royal history.

Maireas · 26/05/2021 17:39

Thanks, Seneca, I had an idea there was a link to the Stuarts, I think I've read about Alba before (possibly on here!).
All that Colour Me business is most confusing! I tried to work it out for myself, but gave up. I just wear what I fancy!

SenecaFallsRedux · 26/05/2021 18:47

Correction. Arabella Churchill, not Stuart.

I had my colors done years ago when it was very popular. I'm a winter, and what I found is that I was already using the "winter" colors. I think most of us just naturally discover what we look best in.

Maireas · 26/05/2021 19:22

There is a link to the Stuarts with the Spanish royal family (unless I'm mistaken). I'll look it up.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/05/2021 19:30

The old Duchess of Alba (the groom's
grandmother?) was quite a character IIRC. She had a scandalous marriage or two under her belt.

I'm a winter too. Similar colouring to Meghan, so I always kept an eye on the colours she wore. I'm actually wearing a Meghan Green top today!

Eaumyword · 26/05/2021 20:19

Is that olive, khaki, Commonwealth Service superhero cape bright, or dark engagement dress green?!

KillingMeDeftly · 26/05/2021 20:21

More tartan! And her signature buttons.

Royal Style - more outfits as lockdown eases, not more black we hope
Eaumyword · 26/05/2021 20:22

Love that tartan coat, beautiful blue.

Spudlet · 26/05/2021 20:23

Ah, the traditional shortbread tin look. Nice colours in that tartan though. Some of them are a bit strong - I like the softer colours better.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/05/2021 20:26

I love the cut of the coat but the buttons are a bit much for me.

frugalkitty · 26/05/2021 20:38

I love the colours of that cost but the buttons spoil it.

Maireas · 26/05/2021 20:42

I love that coat - gorgeous colours! Very chic although still a bit literal (bless her). They seem to be having a good time in Scotland and revisiting their old stomping grounds.

Spudlet · 26/05/2021 21:00

The shoes are also gorgeous. I love a green shoe!

mathanxiety · 26/05/2021 21:45

Me too, @Spudlet.

I like the coat a lot.

It's sharply tailored, with epaulettes featuring the same buttons, little bands around the wrists with buckles of the same metal, a belt with big metal grommets from what I can see; I think the whole effect wouldn't work without the buttons. You would have to rethink all the other details if there were different buttons.

Chewbecca · 26/05/2021 22:16

Kate’s generally considered a Summer, as am I. Cool and muted shades. I’m a ‘deep summer’ so am better in the darker shades v the light ones, I think Kate could be too. I’m brunette with pinkish skin which burns and hazel eyes.

I like the fabric and cut of the tartan coat a lot but another odd length.
