Thanks for the Caledonian montage, @RomainingCalm! I think that the Black Watch coat is due a re-wear. There is a Strathearn tartan, of which she is Countess. It's got a strong yellow, so I have my fingers crossed.

As I've said before this is a lovely cosy thread with lovely people.

Love the red tartan in the montage. HM looked very nice in her red outfit too.

If the weather's really warm in Scotland then she might step out in this fetching one-piece.

Oh and there's something for William too. Wouldn't want him to feel left out!

Just read that when they're in St Andrews they will be doing sand yachting with young carers so I'm going to add skinny jeans and a Breton top to my predictions

Maybe we'll see some trousers/jumpsuits for a change. I picked out a few in case Kate's doing some last minute packing.

She may defiantly ignore the tartan and dig out that blue Christopher Kane coat from a while back... that was a nice coat, actually.

Completely off topic but this photo came up as I was browsing IG yesterday so I thought I'd share (especially as we're so short of diamond events at the moment). My two favourite tiaras. I wonder if the royal ladies are glad to not have to bother with all the evening dressing up at the moment, or if they're itching to break into the vaults and go mad again?

We desperately need a big event with gowns and tiaras. I reckon HM wears one when she feeds the dorgis.

I was looking at some pictures of Diana the other day and couldn't imagine her with long hair like Kate has.
She did grow it a bit longer once but it didn't suit her, imo.

I remember that @Horsemad, it was when Harry was a baby. I think it's longish in his christening photos, which are very soft focus and she's wearing a ton of makeup and hairspray.

She really suited short hair. At the end of her life, it was shorter and looked really chic.

I agree that she suited short hair, but of those two photos frugal has posted, I prefer the wedding hair. I dislike the stiff curls of the later one and prefer a softer, less structured look.

Spudlet she wore a mini-kilt (safety-pin and all!) under that lovely Christopher Kane coat, so I figure it’s definitely still in the running…

Diana grew her hair to shoulder-length after having Harry, and I think it suited her (to be fair, she could probably carry off most hairstyles) and as styled she looked really 1940s-chic. It was definitely a departure from how we were used to seeing her - this link has a few photos:

I remember after the divorce Tatler magazine ran a feature speculating on who Diana might marry next, with illustrations demonstrating how she might look in each potential new lifestyle. One was as a party-girl enjoying an evening out, and they depicted her with long hair a la Jemima Khan. It was quite an arresting look!

I found this image of what Princess Diana could have looked like with long hair. To me she seems almost unrecognisable without her signature short "do".
