I want a long floral maxi dress. Something that a girl in a Flake ad would wear

But sadly I can't find it.

You know what I mean, the sort of dress that demands a floppy hat and a wildflower meadow. A dress with fabric that swooshes.
A dress that screams HELLO THE 70's!

Anyone come across anything this glorious?
A puff sleeve would be a definite advantage.

Coincidentally I was just on the Ollie& Nic website - what about this

Bare in mind that girl has never even sniffed a bar of chocolate.

Imo!!

I was looking earlier for a coachella style dress, abs just typed in boho style maxi and was lost for ages looking at them all, so many out there!

The Ollie and Nic one is on point

toffeebutterpopcorn · 08/04/2021 22:34

You’ll need a big floppy hat too. And a watercolour set.

I know Seasalt makes everyone on here shout frumpy but I like this. (I have lots of Seasalt and I don’t care)

Free People have tons of maxi dresses. Expensive but regular sales and the quality is usually good. I've had so many complements on the dress I bought from there 6 years ago - I'm really sad that it's got a couple of moth holes now and I'm gonna have to retire it soon. Definitely got my money's worth - I cant be doing with cheap clothes anymore as they've doubtless been produced in unethical ways and the quality is usually awful.

For me Apricot does the best floaty maxi summer dresses

mrssmiling · 09/04/2021 00:24

Gabrielle Parker has some lovely floaty dresses. Various styles, but this long gypsy dress might suit.

Aspiga are worth a look...more expensive, but very lovely.
Puffed sleeves... www.aspiga.com/products/nancy-satin-puff-sleeve-shirred-midi-dress-ditsy-floral-sage
Floral maxi... www.aspiga.com/products/fleur-satin-shirred-maxi-dress-ditsy-floral-blue-red
Not floral, but reminiscent of 1970s Laura Ashley. www.aspiga.com/products/audrey-organic-cotton-voile-lace-maxi-dress-white
Joe Browns also has long floral dresses. www.joebrowns.co.uk/ravishing-wrap-dress-we332

You are a clever bunch and there are some good links here.

The Free People dress comes the closest to scratching my itch but for the cut out back, I think I have an actual allergy to missing back fabric on frocks, and I'd also really like floral. Actually, that should read FLORALS. I like pattern.
I assumed Zara or Anthropologie would come up trumps but I've yet to find anything.

Thanks for taking the time, I'll keep on digging and if you see anything else then you know where I am.

I’ve just ordered a couple of dresses from Olive. We’ll see how the one size thing works... I’m not entirely convinced.

Expensive but boho goals!

Not usually one to shop at next but I have this and it’s a nice dress- good fit.

timetochangeagainforever · 09/04/2021 08:35

H&M have some lovely ones, sadly I'm too short to wear them! Environmentally Sustainable too

Snog · 09/04/2021 09:02

OMG the Christy Dawn dresses!
Cottagecore gorgeousness!

Aren’t they just lovely?! I have to admit to following Kimberley Van Der Beek on Instagram and she always looks beautiful as do her children - all dressed in the most gorgeous clothes.

Love the Christy Dawn dresses!

Cowbells · 09/04/2021 09:35

I was around in the 70s and so far the Next Amira dress is the one most true to what we wore. Bloody gorgeous. But the 70's dresses were less shapeless and frumpy. They showed a bit of waist.
