I used to love Aussie 3 minute miracle as a cheap fix but hadn’t used it for years. It used to be lovely and thick and my hair always felt a bit better after using it.
Bought a bottle last week - what have they done to it?! Horrible watery rubbish that did nothing for my hair.

Ghd curling wand - now I love a ghd product but this does nothing for me.

Rosehip oil - paid about £40 for a tiny bottle of this when it was all the rage a couple of years ago. Did absolutely nothing for me.

@SunsetBeetch
O’Keefe’s Skin Repair body moisturiser has been a game changer for my KP. I had rated Eucerin before, but the improvement since I changed is incredible. You don’t even need it everyday.

Fortunefavours1 · 02/04/2021 13:42

@QueenPaw
@lookdeepintotheparka

Thanks, corded shark back on the shortlist

MiddlesexGirl · 02/04/2021 14:19

Any face cream tbh. Never found one that shows any improvement and some make my skin worse. Won't be bothering again!

ChrissyPlummer · 02/04/2021 14:20

Also my Dyson Airwrap, took ages to do and was SO damn fiddly. Fell for a demo in Boots; I imagine it would have been so much easier if I’d had the lady at home with me Grin. My Aurora Band gave me better results. I do like the dryer bit of the Airwrap though.

KitchenFairy · 02/04/2021 14:30

Hmmm I keep looking at the Dyson Airwrap, but maybe my first instinct was right and it’ll just end up in the dusty graveyard of hair appliances under my bed.

tuliprosedaffodil · 02/04/2021 14:31

La Mer. I was at the counter lamenting to DH about how I couldn't afford to buy a pot to try and a lovely sales lady took pity on me and gave me six of the teeny tester pots. I used them, was about two weeks worth and it's just greasy and made me spotty. Reminded me of the old fashioned Nivea in the blue tub that my gran swore by.

Thank glad I didn't have £150 odd to spend on it!!

ChrissyPlummer · 02/04/2021 15:03

@KitchenFairy it depends on your hair and expectations I would say. I have very thick hair that holds a lot of water and I found the Airwrap had to be used when my hair was just the right amount of wet - too dry and it wouldn’t work, too wet and it wouldn’t work either. I ended up spraying it with water as one side was too dry by the time I’d done the other! It also took ages as you can only get a small amount of hair around the barrels. The Secret Curl is as fiddly but I’d get three days out of it! Barely a few hours from the Airwrap.

Maireas · 02/04/2021 16:27

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Smells rank, put it in the bin.
I agree about Chanel no 5, and I love all the other Chanel perfumes.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 02/04/2021 17:14

Biore Watery Essence SPF - made my skin dryer than the Sahara!

Hourglass Ambient Light powder thingy - OK but no way worth the money

Estee Lauder Double Wear - literally like paint (it even smells like paint!) and made me look like an actual corpse in flash photography

Ruby Woo - gorgeous colour but caused my lips to shrivel up and die basically, even with shitloads of lip balm! Velvet Ribbon by Lisa Eldridge is miles better.

Babyliss Big Hair - again, OK, I just couldn't really get on with it.

However, I do absolutely love my Shark cordless vacuum, it was a game changer for me! Grin

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 02/04/2021 17:16

I always wanted to love Chanel No 5 and it be like a sophisticated 'signature scent' for me, but it really is just not a very nice smell is it?

Same with 4160 Tuesdays - a few of the scents I liked, but most of them I was just like WTF?

SallyCinnamon3009 · 02/04/2021 17:18

GHD curling wand -rubbish

Just got some Lancôme hypnose mascara that I've been wanting to try for ages - it's rubbish no better than a £10 L'Oréal one

I love the ordinary though 😉 especially their foundation

TeaAddict235 · 02/04/2021 18:01

@Iamthewombat

L’Oréal nutrition gloss (used to be called mirror shine) shampoo and conditioner. Pink bottles.

God, it was awful. My hair felt like that plastic dolls’ hair. I had to buy clarifying shampoo to get rid of it. Never again.

Agree, my hair looked like a rats nest afterwards! Horrible stuff.

Hask coconut or charcoal hair mask / cowash . Another hair destroyer. Hate hate hate the stuff with a passion.

JMAngel1 · 02/04/2021 18:15

St Tropex self tan face mist - just washes off instead of leaving any kind of stain. Ambre Solaire face most half the price and waaaay better.

I do love The Ordinary - it’s standout products for me are ascirbic acid powder, lactic acid 10% and alpha lipoic acid - transformational.
I also love L’Oréal miracle water - it’s strange how different we all are. Oooh and Weleda Skin food / bloody amazing in the deepest of Winter for my face.

Alsohuman · 02/04/2021 18:41

@impressivelycunty

Babyliss Big Hair. Agree about Aveda; double wear is hideous on me. And CT miracle cream brought me out in spots. I finally found an amazing cream via a sample from Space NK and of course it's £210 a go. So depressing...
I couldn’t live without my Big Hair. I bought it when it first came out and am currently on my fourth. I look as if I’ve had a professional blow dry.
DeusEx · 02/04/2021 18:48

Any face make up from Bobbi Brown or Charlotte Tilbury. Seems designed to be caked on, which definitely doesn’t work for my (dry, sensitive) skin.

I’m with others on Aussie since they changed their conditioner and spray formulas. They still smell SO good but do nothing to condition my hair. Those who are disappointed - try Wella hair oil and Biotique shampoo. Does for me what Aussie once did in its heyday, keeps my dry and frizzy hair shiny and soft!

DeusEx · 02/04/2021 18:50

Biolage shampoo, not Biotique! I use hydrasource and it’s super for hair that suited Aussie hair a few years ago :)

UnlikelybutTrue · 02/04/2021 19:00

Anything by benefit
Aveda products make my scalp sore even the ones for sensitive scalps
The ordinary hylauronic acid and their squaline. Just started these both last week and have spots on my cheek. I’m 60. I haven’t had spots for years. My face also feels sticky and my make up looks greasy and pils when I use the hylauronic acid with my moisturiser as a base. Very cheap but very disappointing products.
Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks - look like an embalmers product on me.
Mac foundation - like stage Make-up.
Every smudge proof mascara I’ve ever tried has left me with panda eyes - Clinique, blinc and other tubing mascaras, eyeko, EL, maybelline, Rimmel, lancome, YSL - all left me with panda eyes. The only one that didn’t was Bobbi Brown but nothing would remove it. It was virtually superglued to my lashes.

UnlikelybutTrue · 02/04/2021 19:01

When it comes to shark vacuums - I have the cordless and my neighbour the corded. His corded one is absolutely amazing. My cordless is meh. I couldn’t get the corded though as it’s too heavy for my arthritic shoulder and wrists to lug around.

Twinkie01 · 02/04/2021 19:03

Queenpaw the best CG product I've found is Shedid and Parrish Curl Serum, give great curls without a cast, really moisturising and you need a v small amount.

Bananaman123 · 02/04/2021 19:43

Mac velvet teddy and Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk, both look awful on me
CT pillow talk quad, very overhyped
CT foundation, orange
Olaplex

LarryUnderwood · 02/04/2021 19:47

Trinny london - overpriced and just extremely ordinary.
Ameliorate body cream. May work for some but did nothing for my rough bumpy skin.
Benefit mascaras.
Beauty pie nail polish. I like lots of their stuff but this is shite.
Re: hyaluronic acid, a dermatologist i saw recently said its useless in creams as the molecules are too big to sink into the skin. Just a gimmick apparently

Yes, I've read that the scientific jury is definitely veering towards dissing HA used topically. I remember about 8-10 years ago seeing HA capsules in Holland and Barrett and me and my Mum buying some.

Tell you what was weird about Charlotte Tilbury foundation- I had a sample and absolutely loved it. Bought the full bottle. Same foundation, same colour. I still had a sample to compare it with. Totally different. Different coverage. The sample was amazing. The £30 bottle shite. I ebayed it.

I wish I could say I didn't love the Lancome Hydra Zen night cream sample I tried last week but it is absolutely fabulous and I've just spent £70 on a full jar. Hey ho. Grin

PlayItCool · 02/04/2021 20:16

@MolotovMocktail

That Becca under eye product that everyone raves about on here. Makes me look like some sort of glittery greasy ghost.
Me too! I'm very pale to start with and the light shade makes me look pale and ill, and greasy.

What's the point of make up that makes you look worse??

TheBullfinch · 02/04/2021 21:35

I agree about Charlotte Tilbury products. I bought the miracle cream and felt it was just like Nivea or Astral. I always think her make-up makes people look like burns victims - way too shiny and red. I've had amazing results with La Roche Posay though - both face and body. It's the one thing that got rid of my keratosis pilaris.

Benefit's They're Real mascara used to be amazing but not any more.

Any Chanel product, including No5. The cake eyeliner being the exception. Brilliant stuff.

Moonwatcher1234 · 02/04/2021 22:28

Erborian cc cream...was great years ago and now leaves a weird orange tidemark.

Body shop camomile cleansing butter left me with terrible spots but I know most people love it.
