Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

That's my problem Pom - I'm currently trying to use up samples of serums and moisturisers, but (a) they generally don't last long so you can't tell if they make a difference and (b) even if they do, I'm chopping and changing so much, I can't tell what's working!

Only a small Jo Malone fragrance sample (pear and freesia) to report. But I've got a few things on the go that should run out soon, so looking forward to a bit more progress to come!

supadupapupascupa · 26/05/2021 07:43

I stick to one or two products at once on my face for that reason too.

Channel Choice sample finished. I like it!!

PomRuns · 26/05/2021 10:21

Not sure what to give up - I do like the Clarins but maybe I’ve been harsh re the votary 😂

supadupapupascupa · 26/05/2021 14:30

Not Chanel choice Grin Chanel chance!!

CommanderBurnham · 27/05/2021 14:10

2 more empties!

Kiehls vitamin c anti wrinkle concentrate. Nice texture but possibly a bit harsh. It's was only 5ml so difficult to tell. Will probably not RP.

Aromatherapy Associates muscle gel. Lovely and cooling but overpowering smell. Great for night time soothing.

Lots of things are nearly empty too so all going well.

Agree @BookShark I don't know what's doing what to my skin but just ploughing through samples hoping to hit a jackpot combination!

Fispi · 27/05/2021 15:03

Another La Roche Posay sample gone. B3 retinol serum. No more samples now....until I can get to the shops.

Caggie09 · 27/05/2021 16:38

One im decluttering is the Goof Proof Benefit pencil. I like it, but after months of using it, its a tad dark for me. It's 3.5. And as im nearing the bottom its blunt, so i dont get the brow shape i want without having to work to hard. Might try it in a shade that fits me better in the future. Otherwise, a good brow product.

Revlon Colorstay foundation. HG for md. Currently trying other foundations, but prefer this. So wont be switching.

Avon tiny perfume sample. I have lots of these samples knocking about, must remember to use them. Nothing special tbh.

Garnier fluid SPF. HG. Already have 3 in backup.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/05/2021 08:55

Waitrose Pink Grapefruit shower gel

I really like the BodyShop pink grapefruit but I thought I'd give this a try .
It foams nicely but it's too sweet . Bit like washing yourself with a strawverry jelly !
It was £1 but I'm back to BodyShop for the real deal

clary · 28/05/2021 10:34

evoking serum gone, this is nice if you prefer unperfumed. It was in an AC I think, and I have another similar I have started, think it helps make my skin feel softer.

clary · 28/05/2021 10:35

ecooking not evoking, stupid iPad writes what it thinks I mean not what I actually write!

ememem84 · 29/05/2021 09:07

Soap and glory sugar crush body scrub finally finished!

Not sure I have any more scrubs left now…!

FreshFaceTime · 29/05/2021 10:23

@ememem84 if you're on the lookout for a new one, someone on here recommended this Superdrug one to me and I really like it...

laselvar · 29/05/2021 14:48

Only 2 empties for me this week.
Decree light cleanse - really like this, 2nd one I've got through this year. Would consider buying again, but I've got a ton of cleanser to get through first.
111 Skin rose gold illuminating eye mask - this was amazing, left the skin under my eye plump and line free. The only mistake I made was using it on a Sunday morning with no plans for the day. It is expensive, but I'll definitely consider repurchasing if I have a special event.

ememem84 · 29/05/2021 21:10

Other empties

YSL mascara base/ primer. Love this.

je.feelunique.com/p/Yves-Saint-Laurent-The-Curler-Mascara-Base-51ml

Also just finished a this works body cocoon sleep moisturiser. Yum.

And take the day off lotion - Clinique.

Experiment627 · 30/05/2021 09:23

I fell off the thread again 🙈🙈🙈🙈

@CherryMargo glad you had a good break.

@Caggie09 think I will take a pass on a summer day bin smell 😬 even if I am suddenly getting spots like I never used to! I am finding The Inkey List succinic acid treatment good at nipping in the bud.

@JourneyToHappiness lovely to have you here! Welcome!

Am loving the bronzer chat. TBH I only use when filming and have wondered if it made me look like I had been slapped in the face...

Welcome back @MackemLass79 !!!! As long as I have breath in my body (and MN exists) there will be a thread!

@clary I quite liked the Pinkalicious shampoo bar... have you tried Beauty Kubes shampoo cubes - they have been the best I have tried so far... although I prefer Pinkalicious to the Sweet Orange one that is meant for greasy hair... go figure. I ADORE the Guardian conditioner bar from Ethique.

I put mine on a reusable cotton pad, away from the spray of the shower.

I have a load of empties but will have to report later when I have access to them.

My face is not in a happy place right now... am trying to work out if it is something I am using or peri-menopausal skin or threading and hair regrowth or the need of a deep cleansing facial or all of the above. Anyhoo time will tell!

Also I had my eyebrows done (finally!) and I noted to the beautician how bald they were getting and she recommended daily application of castor oil so I am trying that out.

Justilou1 · 30/05/2021 11:22

It will be the threading, probably @Experiment627. Maybe try zipping it off with a facial razor for a couple of weeks instead and see if that makes a difference. (I don’t know your colouring though... if you are very dark/course-haired, that may not resolve the problem. You may need spironolactone prescription which helps with facial hair AND acne.)

Justilou1 · 30/05/2021 11:23

Btw... am in similar phase of life... have started oestrogen replacement recently, if that helps. Much empathy. Hormones are my bugbear too.

Experiment627 · 30/05/2021 12:30

Thanks @justilou1 I was thinking about seeing Dr about HRT - cos actually loads of my "niggles" can be explained by the peri-menopause. I think I will try facial razors - good call. I do not have opportunity to get threaded frequently and it hurts like a fekker when I do... plus the forest grows back so fast!

OP posts:
Experiment627 · 30/05/2021 12:32

Mucho empathy also to you. TBH I think it would be a relief to stop menstruating - I managed my miracle bubba and every month they seem to get worse... so definitely something to chat about with Dr

Finished this pot of magic. It's my go to, but I'm going to finish all the samples and free stuff I accumulated before a repurchase.
Can't tell you how much I love this stuff...

Beauty Hoarders Anonymous: you have got to be in it to win it!!!
JourneyToHappiness · 30/05/2021 16:51

Thanks for the welcome @Experiment627 .
Few empties this weekend.
Augustinus Bader the body cream 10ml. Very thick, nice enough but no way worth the price tag!
Coola sun silk drops 5ml. I really liked this, my make up went on lovely over it so might repurchase but it's quite pricey and probably better spf out there for less.
Caudalie resveratrol-lift serum. Couldn't wait for this to finish, not keen on the smell and just didn't enjoy using it.

Justilou1 · 30/05/2021 23:42

Probably the last scrape of the Max Factor blue mascara primer. Love this. I hate the white ones. This one has a lovely texture (never gloopy) and because it’s blue, you don’t get icky bits near your eyelids. If they’re a bit visible, it just adds interest. I will buy another one when I see it on sale.

VanGoghsDog · 31/05/2021 00:00

Just as a side note - I'm seeing a meno specialist hopefully soon ish, and very much looking forward to HRT to sort my skin, hair, sleep, moods, aches, flushes, libido, irritation....

CommanderBurnham · 31/05/2021 00:58

@Experiment627 @VanGoghsDog

I'm sure I'm entering perimeno. Awful.

Anyhow, a few empties to report

Ren renew aha body lotion 50ml. Almost exactly the same as the nip and fab glycolic. Left skin really tacky.

Paula's choice BHA. HG. Repurchased.

I just snipped off the top of my face wash tube and OMG there's so much left inside the tube. I've got at least 2 weeks more out of it. I'll definitely be doing that more, especially with pricey stuff.

I'm in the market for a multipurpose serum so I'll keep an eye on that Estée Lauder. The nicest one I've had so far is the Venn age reversing one which is eye wateringly expensive. Might reward myself if when I use up everything else.

Justilou1 · 31/05/2021 04:38

I’ve been using using oestrogen for two and a half years now. It’s not the answer to everything, but it really helps. As a nurse, I can assure you that the protective benefits are worth it alone. They will be prying it from my cold, dead hands!!! I also advocate for antidepressants if you need them and making sure you see the right specialists for the right problem. So many GP’s have form for minimising the umbrella issues of perimenopause and menopause as “normal” and they indicate (or lead to) significant health or mental deterioration later on. If this was taken seriously even as soon as straight after childbirth, a lot of the issues women face in later life could potentially be avoided. (Rant over!!! I’m off my soapbox now!)
