Carrying on the great tradition of this thread - where those that are addicted to beauty products come together and support one another!

I am without doubt a major hoarder. Off the back of the thread about how many perfumes people own, and counted my own stash, thinking it was quite limited. It’s only fairly recently I started using perfume again.

Then I remembered I’d stashed some old perfumes in a drawer somewhere. Managed to find them this morning. Included in the stash was a half full bottle of Exclamation - the (cheap) bottle I used about 30 years ago. This has somehow survived 6 or 7 house moves, including moving countries.

Wearing it today for nostalgic reasons.

PomLikeTheBattle · 07/05/2021 12:58

@clary I'm the same, thank it's the fear of running out of money/food etc
I have no problem buying DC lovely things, but always feel guilty about me. Not daft at all think lots of emotion tried up.

@AprilLady my first perfume was Anais alias, I then went onto loulou and Paloma Picasso. I don't think you can but them now but they would invoke lots of memories.

Experiment627 · 07/05/2021 14:08

@clary good on you for working on your money mindset. We are conditioned all our lives that money is scarce... I really hope I do not condition Kwicklet in this way.

I love how abundance and having a mindset that allows for prosperity just keeps on showing up for me today - I am just about to watch a video on YT about "How to manifest money fast!"... anyhoo I will try and stop being so evangelical but just think it is so true that what you put your focus on is what shows up for you.

@PomLikeTheBattle Anais Anais and LouLou are still around I believe!!!!

This thread is becoming fascinating, hearing about everyone's motivations for hoarding etc.
Part of me wants to be minimalist and only have one cleanser, moisturiser, spf etc. But I'm also a "maximiser" wanting to have the best/most efficacious version of everything, and how do you do that without trying lots?! Even when I find something I love, I keep trying other things just in case.

Then there's the urge to have backups just in case I run out of something .. so I have multiple toothpastes, shower gels, etc etc.

And an urge just to have new pretty things 😊. Love small trial sizes just for the novelty and the cuteness of the packaging. And I always love a freebie / GWP.

My stash is small compared with others but I still had a "woah" moment yesterday opening the bathroom cupboard, especially now the Cult Beauty GWP has been added. But I am using and enjoying everything. And love using everything up - has to be properly finished, tube squeezed out / cut up - as I hate to waste anything.

Empty for the day - No7 Brilliance Face Oil. Must be about 3 years old from a Christmas gift set. I'm not really in the habit of using oils - like the feeling of massaging them in, but don't they undo the work of the serum/ moisturiser underneath? This one made any cream underneath pill.

Caggie09 · 07/05/2021 15:28

Interesting to read all the chat around how we've got here. Normally id of purchased the GWP's, but i realise i have too much. The only thing i intend to buy this month is SPF. I guess for me it's i see something, and cant walk away and leave it. I have to have it there and then. I get so much joy from beauty and selfcare, its my little sanctuary for a little while a day. But, when i look at it all, im overwhelmed and it takes the joy away. I guess i bulk buy too, but again i do that with other products in life too, like food!

Anyhoo, my empties!

Sanctuary body butter. Talking of hoarding. This had changed texture from when i first bought it. Maybe had it 3 yearsBlush Pretty standard.

Lee Stafford Choco locks spray. I liked the fact it was in a spray bottle. Basically an oil. Better on dry hair rather than damp. My ends didnt look dry and drab when it came to wash day. And my hair smelt like chocolate. Id RP, but i have about 5 hair oils in stash..

Odacite rose gommage. Didnt notice a difference. 3 mini sachets of facemasks left. Woo.

Rice sheet mask. Felt abit rubbish this morning, toothache has knocked me side ways! It was nice to relax, and soothed my chapped nose too. Skin seems pretty hydrated. Cant go wrong with a sheet mask.

Experiment627 · 07/05/2021 16:18

Just a few empties to report:

  • Aldi No1 lime, basil & mandarin hand & body lotion 10ml: I started this ages ago but then put away - have got out of my stash all of the stuff I have from this range and am using. I adore the smell - it is a great dupe for the Jo Malone original.
  • Superdrug Vitamin C revitalising jam face mask: this is sort of a quick mask/scrub and I LOVE it! It really leaves my skin feeling nice and is really inexpensive. Will defo RP at some point.
  • Avon Naturals aloe & macadamia treatment mask: I actually used this as a conditioner as it does not need to be on for long. Really nice - but not necessarily that great in combo with the hair scrub shampoo I paired it with.

PomLikeTheBattle · 07/05/2021 17:11

Caggie - exactly that. Joy but then get overwhelmed.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/05/2021 18:18

Experiment627 · 07/05/2021 18:25

Ha! I was talking to dh about my desire to be more minimalist but also my horsing tendencies.

I’ve just sorted out our kitchen. And everything has a purpose.

Skincare though. That’s another matter. The minimalist me wants one of each thing plus one spare. The other side wants everything!!!! And she’s a bad influence.

I’ve caught myself twice this week from the gwp on Feelunique. Spend £120 and get a free spring beauty bag. I coukd easily spend. On things I will use and on things for dh. But. I haven’t. Vowing to use up what I have before buying more.

Clothes are a huge issue for me too. Wardrobe is bursting. But I’m determined not to buy unless I need anything.

CommanderBurnham · 08/05/2021 15:30

I've just finished a Venn age reversing serum 20ml.

I think it worked so it's on the eventual repurchase list. I opened an espa moisturiser yesterday and the smell was overpowering. Also irrited slightly and I've woken this morning with 4 spots. I'm not sure whether to just bin it or persevere but that will mean risking going backwards in my skincare and I don't want to do anything to spoil my progress just in the quest to use something up. It's a pricey one if I was to buy full size so will be gutted to throw it.

HeySeamus · 09/05/2021 10:34

First post on this thread but I've been following it for a while and thoroughly enjoy it. It has inspired me to concentrate more on my skincare which has meant I've purchased a few more items but I am using up loads too.

Today I have FINALLY finished a tube of Clinique rinse off foaming cleanser mousse. I have been squeezing the remnants out for about a month Shock and am now looking forward to saying goodbye to it. I'd say it was harmless but nothing special- does the job but probably wouldn't RP.
I already have a bottle of Clinique mild liquid soap that I received as a gift which is next on my use up list.

This week’s empties:

Sunday Riley Retinol A+, I like this, and even using every day got no irritation, so have repurchased.

Monuspa Lemon and Sandalwood bath oil loved this, really nice scent and lovely oil. Have also repurchased (very reasonably priced on ebay, from TheBeautyProductBox - actually Cohorted selling off excess stock from beauty boxes as far as I can tell).

Verso eye cream was fine, sometimes stung a little sometimes not. Lasted forever. Nothing special though, wouldn’t pay RRP for it.

Shiseido power concentrate serum nice texture, absorbed well, hydrating. But nothing magical about it. I have a couple more of the deluxe size from beauty boxes and happy to use up, but wouldn’t repurchase.

Noble Isle Rhubarb Rhubarb shower gel. Enjoyed this, although not my favourite Noble Isle scent.

Femmue sheet mask is really lovely. So much product in the packet though that itv feels very wasteful to use up in one go!

In other news, already failed on the no-spend front Sad

Popping in as I’ve been AWOL for a while. Will ease and catch up.

clary · 09/05/2021 17:50

At last some empties to report!
REN night cream GWP i think or AC. Quite liked this but prefer Elemis or Aurelia night creams.
Carmex lip balm - The Best already RP.
Vintage and co handcream from a set from a friend - strong smell but good cream
Body Shop rose hand cream I have had this for ever so it's good to finish it. Liked it as I love rose scents.

Welcome to the thread @HeySeamus!

clary · 09/05/2021 17:50

OK I have a pic but it wouldn't let me post it - let's try again

CornishTiger · 09/05/2021 19:13

TKMaxx find. Basic cream cleanser.

Herbal essentials facial cleansing milk. Hydrating.

I did like this. The smell is lovely. Sweet almond and aloe Vera. I’d repurchase but not right now as I have several other cleansing products to use. You know oils, balms, washes etc. I do like cleansers for make up removal when I’ve left it quite late in evening and don’t want to wake myself up.

I did ditch a product recently too. Beechwood honey and lavender moisturiser. Just did nothing for my skin and have a million other moisturisers that I actually enjoy. Ditching was progress for me.

Also finished a moo goo shampoo. That’s my holy grail. Used it now for two years plus. No more sore scalp.

VanGoghsDog · 09/05/2021 19:35

I'm doing so badly, one empty, a fairly ordinary scrub. It's not even totally finished but I'm sick of the sight of it, don't have the patience to squeeze the tube dry when I'm in the shower anyway.

ememem84 · 09/05/2021 21:17

Two empties:

Clarins pure scrub - sample size from feelunique gwp. Was nice I might repurchase but have a whole other load to use first

Bare minerals - long life herb serum. Not a huge fan. Again this was in feelunique a gwp. Won’t repurchase. On the plus side a small travel mini has lasted me ages

Justilou1 · 10/05/2021 00:41

Guerlain Orange Solleia EDT gooooone! So sad! I love this fragrance!!! I will repurchase. It’s so happy and inoffensive, but unlike most citrus fragrances, it actually stays!

PomRuns · 10/05/2021 09:28

Few empties:

Beauty Hoarders Anonymous: you have got to be in it to win it!!!
PomRuns · 10/05/2021 09:34

Augustinian Bader - rich cream. Was like nivea but not as nice. Don’t get the hype.

Byredo hand cream loved it. Definite repurchase.

Meadow foam balm - too oily. Didn’t like at all.

Superdrug Vitamin C - random purchase, loved the small (orange) and texture but it’s low concentration- I need to invest in a higher one.

Nip and Fab glycolic pads - loved them, skin much smoother- another repurchase.

Hello @HeySeamus

Caggie09 · 11/05/2021 18:57

KS Eradikate cleanser. Dont think it done much for active spots. Think it helped with keeping them at away. Didnt make my skin feel tight or dry after using it. My skin did feel really clean after though. Dont think it worth £32 imo.

Kiehls shower oil to foam. Nice lovely scent. Lathered nicely too.

Fresh face scrub. Super gentle but enough to feel like you've had a good scrub. Skin was soft and looked glowy after using it. Already have one more in stash.

Coco Cabana cream. Didnt like it first time i used it. But love it this time round. Wasmt sticky, sunk in quickly. Tempted to RP now, but will hold off for a while!

Malin & Goetz moisturiser. Too light for me, i like it thicker. Wasnt offensive by any means.

DE Marula oil. Enjoyed using, wasnt greasy or leave you feeling stuck to your pillow. Would look at cheaper alternatives when i run out of oils.

Rodial mask. Currently on my face, so no feedback. 3 more sachets masks to go!Grin
