Do you ever manage to really use up a bottle of Seche Vite? J find it goes thick and discolored once it's down to the final third. I don't mind, I still love it (though it does cause a bit of shrinkage) but I've never had an empty bottle!

PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 16:00

Hypothetically- what would be good to buy from cult beauty. I think I’d like bath type things. I’ve just rediscovered Molton brown, Had a shower gel as a Christmas gift, smells gorgeous. The body lotions aren’t moisturising enough for me sadly.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 01/05/2021 16:11

I bought make up and an eye cream from Cult Beauty. Didn’t take much to get to the £150.

clary · 01/05/2021 16:14

I bought the Drunk Elephant face mask and some hair products a friend recommended, plus a body scrub, also a recommendation. Not too hard to get to 150 tho I did add a couple of gifts.

PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 16:15

I’ve eye creams plus don’t need make up - maybe that’s a sign !

PomLikeTheBattle · 01/05/2021 16:16

Gifts is a good idea to be able to justify ..

Ponks · 01/05/2021 16:34

@VanGoghsDog no the Seche Vite is never emptied completely, there's always a layer of goop you can never use 😂
Ah the joy of a new fresh bottle though!

Yes, I start to think I'm going off it.....then I jettison the gloop, start a new bottle, and love it all over again.

CommanderBurnham · 01/05/2021 21:57

Empties:

Superdrug conditioner - rosehip and cactus. Smelt like the inside of a bag of penny sweets and left my hair really soft and unmanageable. Won't repurchase but RP another 1000ml of Nioxin step 5. That'll last about a year.

Kerastase oleo relax hair oil 100ml. HG for my hair. Have RP

Garnier sheet mask - skin was feeling tight after all the acids. I'm not sure if this is just HA so not sure if I'll RP. I'm just going to put a thick layer of HA and lie down for 15 mins and see what happens.

Tempted by that nail stuff now as mine are ruined by all the hand washing and alcohol gel I use.

VanGoghsDog · 01/05/2021 23:04

If by "nail stuff" you mean the Seche Vite - it's a top coat. It doesn't do your nails any good at all. Just makes the varnish dry quickly, super shiny and stay on for a week.

Caggie09 · 02/05/2021 09:39

@Ponks i use the Fresh Essence straight after using a toner!

One empty. Radox stress relief bath soak. Would rp. Cheap enough and do the job.

Justilou1 · 02/05/2021 13:34

Two empties... the first is The Ordinary Resveratrol CE Ferulic.. weird product. It’s a light, almost dry oil and smells a bit like cigarette ash. Can’t say I saw any results. Meh...
The next though... THIS is the best facial sunscreen I have ever used. (Trust me, I have used a LOT!) Currently have more on order! Like a light moisturiser, no white caste, not at all sticky or greasy. I used it every day from the time it arrived all over my face, neck and cleavage. Plays nicely with every makeup item I own. It was very effective through the entire Aussie Summer and it didn’t make me sweaty.

This weeks empties:

MZ Skin Rest and Revive My evening routine has included this, Sunday Riley A+ retinol and the 3Labs WW cream. The 3LABs is the last but one of the moisturisers from my F&M calendar. It was very rich - almost a cross between a moisturiser and facial oil, and I went to bed quite shiny faced. But woke up with lovely, well hydrated skin. Not sure which product was responsible though, or whether it’s the combination. 3LABs cream is ridiculously £££ though, so won’t RP.

The Plex 3 is a pretty decent dupe for a Olaplex 3, though I have now stocked up on Olaplex as part of a GWP spend...

Felt better about applying heat after spraying the Philip B, but suspect it actually did nothing.

Dr Dennis Gross eye gel was quite good, but not enough to want to repurchase.

First time I’ve tried a La Mer product, and was kind of hoping I’d find it nothing special, but it’s actually a lovely moisturiser. Still not nearly nice enough to justify a full size RP, but would be very happy to receive again in a GWP!

The sample sachet represents the joy of being able to browse around in shops again. Was given to me by the lovely lady at the Sisley counter in my local HoF. Also had a lot of fun browsing and sampling perfumes in John Lewis today!

@justilou1, that sun cream looks really good. Where do you buy it from?

Justilou1 · 03/05/2021 00:09

It’s Hada Labo... I’m pretty sure you can buy it on YesStyle, but I bought it cheaper from another importer called Stylevana. There are lots more out there. This is the link in Aussie dollars, but I believe they do sell to Uk. They’re faster than YesStyle in my experience also.

AprilLady · 03/05/2021 13:46

Thanks @justilou1, they do ship to the UK.

Experiment627 · 03/05/2021 14:33

LOL @ememem84 really hope your feet don't fall off!!!

I am planning to document the next time I do a foot peel on YouTube 🤓🤓🤓they are the best!

@Caggie09 I ADORE Le Petit Marsellais! I wish I had used them when I lived in Spain!

@LivingDeadGirlUK well done on the decluttering/reorganising

@Justilou1 cigarette ash eh? You are really selling it to me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Those of us who succumbed to the cult beauty freebies box - have you tried the Gallinea (sp?) moisturizer? Lovely texture but a horrible smell.

No empties I’m afraid. I must try harder!

CherryMargo · 03/05/2021 23:00

I had only two empties in April because I felt absolutely uninspired by my stash, and started to slack on my routines. In the past I would boost my interest by buying something new but I’m sticking to my no-buy, and no-buy is tremendously boring 😔

  1. Korres Jasmine Eye Make-Up Removal Lotion (200 ml; £12) – it expired in June 2020 🤢 it was very gentle but also very effective at removing my eye makeup. However, on the day when it expired it started to sting my eyes like crazy so that I had to rinse them with water immediately after using it. I do not condone hate-panning, so if you ever buy this lotion, make sure you use it up within 6 months after opening or bin it as soon as it expires.

  2. Estel Twist Otium Light Cream For Curly Hair (100 ml; a gift from a friend) – it expired in July 2012 🤮 but its consistence and scent remained unchanged until its last day. I used it as a styling product, and applied before blow drying.

The total number of products left: 61 foil sachets, 53 deluxe samples and 232 full-size products.

FreshFaceTime · 04/05/2021 07:44

@CherryMargo that stash!!! 😱😱😱

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 04/05/2021 08:32

@CherryMargo if you don’t mind me asking - how did you accumulate such a stash?

Experiment627 · 04/05/2021 11:16

@CherryMargo it is really hard when the inspiration wanes... I sometimes open up something new just to help with using up the old stuff, but getting back into a routine... not sure if that makes sense but the madness works for me!

I have some empties to report:

  • Biore blue agave baking soda detox mask: not a fave so have decided to gift to SIL who have oily skin, will probably work better on hers
  • Anne French cleansing milk: hurts like FCUK if goes anywhere near eyes and also contains formaldehyde!!!!! How in the F is that allowed????? So this is not finished but I am not going to keep using (really did not like anyhoo) and I am not gifting either!
  • Garnier Ultimate Blends almond crush conditioner: like the shampoo, nothing special and I actually think this made my hair a bit "crunchy"
  • L'oreal Preference 3 shine protect conditioner: this comes with the hair dye, it is ok. I think I have another in my stash.
  • Weleda skin food lip balm: I really liked this - more of an oil than a balm. Very nourishing BUT the tube!!! Really hard to apply - would work so much better in a pot.

BookShark · 04/05/2021 13:11

I haven't tried the Cult Beauty moisturiser yet, but based on that (lack of) recommendation, it may go to the bottom of the pile! I'm already struggling with the scent of my current night and day moisturisers, which are both Origins from a Christmas gift set - DH commented that I smelt like I'd been rubbing Starburst sweets on my face...

My stash is slightly smaller than yours @CherryMargo - I've got 166 products at the moment (32 full-size, 134 samples). But that doesn't count any make-up products as I only wear make-up once in a blue moon so don't tend to buy any, I just use the stuff you get in GWPs so I don't feel so obliged to use it.

My stash has largely been built up from a habit of saving anything I got in a GWP, under the assumptions I'd use it up when travelling. But with minimal travel for the last year, that hasn't really happened - and even before that, I wasn't actually getting through them that quickly anyway. Plus I've got quite a lot of "treatments" - masks, intensive conditioners etc. - which need a conscious effort to use them, and I haven't been doing that, so they've just grown in number.

BUT, in my defence, if I limited myself to one travel size and one full-size item for each category, that would still mean I'd need 32 products on the go at any one time. So I'm being realistic about my target - I reckon below 50 would be a good number, anything after that is just a bonus.

AprilLady · 04/05/2021 13:54

@CherryMargo, well done on sticking to the no spend even when you’re finding it hard going. The only suggestion I can make (which I’m trying to do myself from now on) is the equivalent of shopping your wardrobe. Take stuff out, and try to get excited about trying something new.

My stash overall is now very large - quite a lot more deluxe/sample sizes than full, but overall in the 100s (including skincare, hair care, make up, bath and body). Reflects the fact that I haven’t be able to resist good value GWPs, gifts sets and advent calendars. Having tried and failed before, I am now definitely attempting a no spend, at least until Advent Calendar season.

I have been using stuff up though - looking back, excluding single use sachets, I used up 41 products over the last 5 weeks, of which 10 were full size. But it has taken effort - eg. Hair treatments as well as shampoo and condition twice a week, face masks (cream or sheets) around 3 times a week etc. I’m fortunate that my skin is not very sensitive so hasn’t reacted badly to all that.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 04/05/2021 20:48

@BookShark I too have tended to keep my little ones for traveling, I also kept them for the caravan. But I wasn’t getting through anything and so decided to bite the bullet and just use stuff up, thus I joined this thread.

I am definitely (definately if you are H), using more stuff than I ever have before but rarely seem to have empties.
