SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

OMG…take away the awful cape bit and this dress is divine

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 22:41

How about this one?

In all seriousness I can’t find one. They’re all too long for you

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 22:43

Would love to get married in this

CarolineBingley · 06/09/2021 19:01

I love Oscar de la Renta but normally but why or why with the cape?!

The 2nd dress is beautiful and thankfully wouldn't suit me. I did however chuckle quite hard at imagining dh's face if I told him I had bought a £14k dress?GrinGrinGrin

I love Needle and Thread but they more look like their dresses would love @DryWhiteagainW far more than they would love me!

DryWhiteagainW · 07/09/2021 07:16

Morning.
Quick hello before I go to work.
Couple of basic purchases for work last night....trying a new shop of trouser but will link later .
Had WiFi probs for a few days and turned into A petulant teenager.
So good to seee the thread up and running AND The sun shining So I’ve got my legs out a summer dress on because I bet the crap weather will return soon.
Hugs to all

MarshaBradyo · 10/09/2021 09:41

Hello we’re going into A/W now exciting

I cheated a bit and got jumpers and denim from NaP in sale, so feel stocked up at a discount.

All back at school here, feels great! I feel a bit bad about how much I agonised over Ds decision re which school, as he couldn’t be happier or more active, but I guess you never know for sure until they are there.

Stokey congrats to your dd re school news

Ok back to style going to catch up and do links

VivaVegas · 10/09/2021 10:17

I quite like thinking about autumnal clothes, find it easier to dress than in Summer.

Am also now back in the office a few days a week so determined to not wear jeans every day as I have been while working at home! It's definitely more casual at the moment even at a senior level.

Has anyone bought or seen any nice black work appropriate trousers? I've lots of nice tops but need some new trousers and black just goes with everything and my old ones are a bit faded.

I had seen that blue Hush jumper Queen Mint Velvet also have a similar one that I saw in store yesterday https://www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/Blue-High-Neck-Chunky-Jumper/36538jumper which is more cobalt than it looks in the photo. There's a lot of cobalt around this season so will pick up a few bits as I love that colour. I saw the Whistles sweatshirt you bought Shop.
Love a lunchtime wander around Fenwicks, another reason to be glad to not be at home all the time now!

VivaVegas · 10/09/2021 10:21

I saw this in store yesterday which looked simple but nice. Good for trainers and a denim jacket now and then tights/boots/leather jacket later.

Nice links @VivaVegas - I was just looking at the New In section of Whistles - I think they're back on top form. Lots I want so won't link until I've tried as we know how that works out.
miniShop finally went back to school yesterday - felt like the longest holiday ever! I'm looking forward to Autumn, summer has been a write off for us - lots of illness, bad staycations and generally everyone v flat so nice to have a focus again.
@MarshaBradyo I'm glad DS school worked out, it's always so stressful as we just want the best for them - I'm currently in do I keep him on until Y8 mode at the moment, terrified that if I do, what happens if he fails exams - I doubt he will, he's bright, but I always plan for the worst....
Weather is wet and horrible, so style is not v interesting but I have to say I absolutely LOVE the Rains raincoat I bought - it gets lots of compliments too and doesn't feel too frumpy. Win.
Lovely hearing about office wear too, miniShop has longer school days now so I am hoping to have a weekday mooch in London soon. Love to people watch and spot trends.

Does anyone know if Grazia still do the end of Sept Whistles code anymore?

OP posts:
VivaVegas · 10/09/2021 11:43

There was definitely a 20% Whistles code last September as I bought some lovely boots.

I agree, they have some really nice things this season. I think they needed to improve as for the last few years they seemed to just do the same things different fabric/print each season. Probably why I have 4 different coloured Lula/Lola dresses!

shopafrolic · 10/09/2021 16:06

Great @VivaVegas fingers crossed for a code this year then Smile

Came on here to ask advice and really happy to see we're almost back up and running.

I'm after a rain coat - not as formal as a trench and slightly smarter than a kagool/parker type - an all rounder basically!

Tried on and loved this from Mint Velvet until turned around and saw the words on the back!! What do you all think?

Also tried on this by Joules

And I'd completely forgotten about RAINS and have now seen this jacket which of course will be longer on me!

Shop what is the sizing like?

Themarvellousmrsm · 11/09/2021 08:15

Going back to previous links, some of those evening dresses are divine; just love the 2 cowl neck Jenny Yoo dresses which are longer than I & Caroline are tall What did you wear in the end Caroline?

Whilst in MV I also tried on the blue jumper Viva linked, I loved it but didn't purchase at the time although may well go back.

I have made a few A/W purchases recently from local indie shops, a grey flecked knitted vest, light blue oversized v neck jumper (looks fab with a white vest underneath and gf jeans) and a breton,-slim fit, grey stripe with puffy sleeves at the shoulder (no idea the name for this style). I'd not heard of the brands, will see if I can find pics.

AppleFairy · 11/09/2021 08:52

@Themarvellousmrsm someone has that Rains jacket, is it you @libertyonhertravels?

DryWhiteagainW · 11/09/2021 09:28

Hello everyone and good to see you again Marvellous
caroline is right I adore the Needle and Thread stuff, that “wedding” dress for Queen is lovely.

DryWhiteagainW · 11/09/2021 09:31

So , live Viva I’m searching for some good black work trousers. I fancy this look and ordered these trousers. Fabulous quality but full length in me and not particularly flattering Hmm . I’ll keep searching

DryWhiteagainW · 11/09/2021 09:33

I’m on an adventure this weekend with DH . We are travelling a couple of hundred miles in a very old car. Doesn’t bode well as the car isn’t starting!!! I’ve packed a good book, I might be sometime Grin

DryWhiteagainW · 11/09/2021 09:35

Marvellous the writing would bug me tbh.

Stokey · 11/09/2021 12:45

Lots of activity, exciting!

Great to hear DS has settled well @MarshaBradyo. The whole 11+ changing schools thing is super stressful @shopafrolic. I think you'll never know whether you're decision is right. One thing to consider is how many of his friends are staying till Y8. Also how big the intake of the schools you're aiming for are at Y7 & Y9 respectively. If most start at Y7, it may be better to move him then. I know it really varies from school to school.

I've got a couple of Whistles dresses bought via Brand Alley that have been total heroes of my wardrobe over the summer. I definitely want more stuff from there.

@Themarvellousmrsm I have the same raincoat as Shop but in navy. It came up massive. I ordered a medium to start with and ended up swapping for XS. Rather annoyingly they are based in Denmark so if you order online from them, you need to pay returns. They do have a shop in Kings Cross though if you can get there.

shopafrolic · 12/09/2021 09:01

I’m a 12/14 and my raincoat is S/M - I don’t like things too fitted though. You can order Rains from lots of retailers now - NaP, Selfridges, Whistles all stock some of the range so worth looking around to avoid the returns issue that @Stokey mentions

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 12/09/2021 09:02

@Stokey thanks for the school tips. The achool we are looking at don’t like to take boys from our school until Y9 as our school does such a good job of preparing them! It’s the gamble that worries me - feels like a lot to put on young shoulders.

Themarvellousmrsm · 12/09/2021 18:41

I've ordered the Rains coat as decided like Dry (hope car started & you had a good day) the writing would annoy me. I've been in London quite a lot recently including Coal Drops yard but didn't notice the shop sadly (was mostly eating & drinking!)

libertyonhertravels · 13/09/2021 10:57

Well remembered @Applefairy I do have that raincoat. They do run large, I ordered a M/L as I wanted one that would fit over jumpers/jackets but would have been OK with S/M I think. I ordered it from Denmark so didn't want to pay to return it there from NZ! I wear it a lot and it gets lots of comments.

@MarshaBradyo it's great that DS is happy with school. And well done to your DD @stokey at getting her school place.

No fashion news here. I missed a haircut as we went into lockdown here the day before my appointment. I had already left it 3 months as I decided to grow out my grey so was giving it some time. It looks so bad atm, too long and all the grey is underneath so when I tie it up the sides look really grey. It is driving me nuts and I'm hating how it looks. I'm booked in for a cut on 24th September. Can't wait.
