Mumsnet Vogue Vol 89 - Must try harder **Edited at the OP's request**

SO the last 'edition' took over a year to complete. Must try harder Voguettes. Despite the fact that we are still in lockdown, and rarely out of loungewear, there is still inspiration to be found. Spring is springing, brighter days are on the horizon and homeschooling CANNOT last forever (not if miniShop wants to live anyway).
So join us for style & beauty chat, and other inspiration as we navigate our way as stylishly as possible through lockdown 3.

@SouthernFashionista we’ve been doing these threads for a long time, and the nicest thing about them is that we cover all budgets and tastes. There was never a criteria that said we had to be relatable.
Personally, I have champagne tastes on a lager budget and could never afford a lot of what is linked - but the whole reason for Vogue (the thread and the magazine) is to provide a dreamy escape to another world. The fact that I now have a real life friend in @carolinebingley who lives in that world has been an amazing bonus for me. The fact that she is also kind, funny and generous with her time and her friendship is the icing on the cake.
Please stay, talk fashion and beauty and share what you love, but don’t criticise some of the nicest people I have ever met for living a different life to others.

Hear, hear @QueenCremant and @CarolineBingley

@SouthernFashionista I love hearing what my fellow Voguettes are wearing and buying regardless of price. That's the whole raison d'être of this thread. I clicked on the clink to look at the bangle and thought it was absolutely exquisite. As Queen said there is no snobbery or jealousy here. We like looking at and admiring each other's purchases.

As an aside my son's friend's dad drives him to school in his super car - think Lambo/Ferrari/McClaren should I ask him to stop as he's not relatable?

shopafrolic · 05/09/2021 17:43

And as a total aside I have tried on plenty of @CarolineBingley ‘S most expensive jewellery and I make it look as though it came out of a Christmas cracker!

It all sounds a bit Lady Bountiful to me. But maybe I’ve just taken things up wrong. Sorry, having a bad day.

CarolineBingley · 05/09/2021 18:07

Thank you @QueenCremant @shopafrolic @Kittyhello xxx

@Kittyhello are you better now? Hope so Flowers

@QueenCremant your comment about my love of all things shiny at all price levels reminds me I haven't shared last month's jewellery purchases....

So normally each year I do a big pilgrimage to Accessorize before my summer holiday and go nuts. As I was doing the Hush clothes order and decided to go with a gold theme, I decided to go rogue in Hush.

These drop earrings are amazing, love them but these earrings are an utter waste of money and so badly put together that they broke when I tried them on first time. I thought it was my fault so I bought another pair, arrived day before we went away and they broke first time I tried to wear them Hmm.

This pendant was fab, loved it and so was this this necklace which matches the shitty earrings.

Oh and finally these earrings aka "what was I thinking?". They looked soooo bad on me!

Overall a mixed experience and as Hush is way more expensive than Accessorize I think I will be back to Accessorize next year!

Kittyhello · 05/09/2021 18:31

Sorry @shopafrolic we must have crossed posts what are you drinking? Rose, white?

@CarolineBingley I'm on the homebound stretch now I hope I'm symptom free by Freedom Day. Loved your review of the Hush holiday jewellery.

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 19:06

I’ve realised not to buy earrings online anymore. I’ve got some hoops from Oliver bonas that I love and then ordered a similar pair online. However they are much flimsier and just impossible to do up. And Of course you cannot return them.

I’ve just had a fab weekend in London. Today was very sunny and so lovely to enjoy summer again. Spent some time people watching and it seems very much a mixed bag. The youngsters are definitely dressing circa 90s/00s but I just can’t help but think been there, done that. I’m torn between wanting to dress like my late teens/early 20s self but wondering if I’ll look a complete dick Grin

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 19:08

And carrying on from @CarolineBingley, I find hush very mixed quality. I haven’t kept anything from there for ages as it’s either poor quality or a rubbish fit. I looked at their a/W collection and normally I’ll list after quite a few things but there’s not a huge amount taking my fancy

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 19:10

The main thing I like is this jumper

shopafrolic · 05/09/2021 19:31

Everything @Kittyhello I’m drinking everything Grin

CarolineBingley · 05/09/2021 20:54

@Kittyhello oh fingers crossed! Glad to hear you're okay.

@shopafrolic you lush, is miniShop not back at school tomorrow? I am in miniBingley's room who is back tomorrowHmm

@QueenCremant lovely Hush jumper though is it you? Btw that skirt is divine! Definitely one for the long legged like @shopafrolic or @MarshaBradyo!

You're definitely right about online shopping for earrings, never done it before and wouldn't recommend it again.

shopafrolic · 05/09/2021 21:40

So I have a fashion emergency.Grin Just remembered I have a "dress very nicely" event this week. So looking at dresses, though I have 2 in the wardrobe I can wear if I don't find something nicer.

I love this McQueen dress but it's in black, which I am not keen on.

At totally different price point, I love this Chi Chi dress.

Need more ideas!

CarolineBingley · 05/09/2021 21:54

Ooooh this cowl neck dress in either the pink or green.

Also cowl neck velvet gown

CarolineBingley · 05/09/2021 22:09

I don't think anyone but a model pulls off this Carolina Herrera gown with the huge bow!Grin Not a contender just liked the prettiness of it!

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 22:13

Love that velvet one. But @CarolineBingley how will you wear those sorts of dresses when you’re, ahem, fairly well endowned in the breast department…?

QueenCremant · 05/09/2021 22:16

Also, that McQueen will drown you. The model is 5’11 Grin

CarolineBingley · 05/09/2021 22:21

@QueenCremant I have one of those "just the front" hold the boobs up bras that I have used for backless dresses.

Fair point on the McQueen! Grin
