Pinkflipflop85 · 08/02/2021 20:38

Drink lots of water. Eat lots of veg. Avoid caffiene/alcohol etc.

I've been using No7 perfect and protect day cream since Christmas, along with their airbrush primer, my skin has dramatically improved and the other day I finished putting my makeup on and thought it hadn't taken long, then realised I hadn't put foundation on! Skin looks really smooth and quite radiant. Not done anything else different.

courtrai · 08/02/2021 20:41

Retinol at night, vit c and sunblock in the morning, Becca backlight primer and good foundation

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/02/2021 20:49

I'm pretty sure it's mostly down to genes but...

I've noticed a definite improvement since I started cleansing with Super Facialist Vit C cleansing oil. I remove makeup with cotton pad and micellar water then use this oil and rinse off with a warm facecloth. My skin looks and feels great after it and it smells fab)

I got a travel sized tube of Prai 24c Gold serum at Christmas and I absolutely love it so much so that I'm going to purchase at the weekend. My skin looks and feels great every morning (I only use it at night) I don't usually spend a lot on skincare so this is unusual for me!

Also I've been getting out for a walk every day this past 3/4 weeks and I think it makes a big difference to how radiant your skin looks. As it's so cold I've been quite liberal with the moisturiser before I head out.

CeibaTree · 08/02/2021 20:57

I agree it's mostly down to genes, but you can help by drinking lots of water, and cutting out booze and sugar. Most of the people I know with great glowy skin are ever so slightly over weight or at least at the top of a healthy BMI. No idea why that is!

Nohomemadecandles · 08/02/2021 21:06

Consistent cleaning, exfoliating & moisturising. And decent genes.

And that! My skin is better when I'm fat!
FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/02/2021 21:13

I have good genes and am slightly overweight and have great skin but I do have to work at keeping my skin glowing with acids, retinol and a good skin care regime it makes a huge difference.

The times when I didn't look after my skin well really showed and it took a while to sort out but now I'm just maintaining it.

You must cleanse every night it's so important even if it's just with micellar water.

Don't smoke. Drink lots of water. Exercise. Get lots of sleep.

alltheadrenalin · 08/02/2021 21:23

Lots of water, sleep, no smoke or drinking and sun block

Volcanoexplorer · 08/02/2021 21:37

A good skin care routine that involves cleansing properly, retinol, acids and peptides.

ReggieKrait · 08/02/2021 21:39

Trilogy rosehip oil with antioxidants. Absolutely amazing and the only moisturiser I can currently use on my crazy sensitive post-baby skin.

Also The Ordinary Lactic acid used twice a week.

OxanaVorontsova · 08/02/2021 21:42

Everything that's already been said, plus Super Glow

Ntwa · 08/02/2021 21:46

What retanols do you all use please?

Minnie6078 · 08/02/2021 22:19

I've spent fortunes on skin care over lockdown but I've decided to try a month with 8+ glasses of water daily, no alcohol, eating healthy and minimal makeup. Il just continue to use Clinique moisture surge and the REN rescue mask once a week.
Hoping it makes a difference

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/02/2021 22:30

Glad you've asked this.. I've always wondered this too!

ReggieKrait · 08/02/2021 22:38

@Ntwa La Roche Posay Redermic R is a good entry point if you haven’t used retinols before. I use Indeed Labs Rentinol Reface which is also quite gentle. I’m sure others will have more recommendations.

PurpleDaisies · 08/02/2021 22:39

For me, it’s a good diet and doing lots of sweaty exercise.

Wineloffa · 08/02/2021 22:45

Loads of water because dehydrated skin never glows. Good diet, daily spf 40+. I use Clinique’s Even Better Glo foundation which is good too.

cozycat1 · 08/02/2021 22:47

When I go through phases of juicing I always notice how much clearer my skin looks. Things like organic carrots, beetroot, apples
Just get fed up cleaning the juicer to keep it going for long. That, cutting back and sugar and yoga and exercise seem to help. My skin is normally pretty bad (roscea, spots etc) but when I was doing all three of above was the only time ever I got a compliment of glowing skin.

ppeatfruit · 09/02/2021 09:00

Cozycat is right about the smoothies, I'm getting on a bit and eat for health , Like my username says!!!!! The secret to eating fresh organic seasonal fruit is to eat it ON AN EMPTY STOMACH . My skin and my eyes, are much glowier when I do this plus cutting right down on 'normal' sugar.

Obviously no smoking or drinking spirits and heavily sulphited wine. The odd glass is ok.
