Mandelic Acid at night, leave on 20 minutes then moisturise with night cream

Drink Water
Multivitamins & Minerals Supplement
Daytime Moisturiser
SPF50 face suncream every time you go out in daylight, without fail.

Frenchdressing · 10/02/2021 22:05

Water really makes a difference.

RacheyCat · 11/02/2021 00:12

Can I ask specifically about the suncream, please? And could everyone try not to be too incredulous about my lack of awareness of this issue, please?

So, say I'm going outside for five minutes, and then I'm going to be indoors all day at work, do I really need a facial sunscreen?

How about if I'm wearing a hat?

It depends.

If not going out in the sun for long at all, you could just wear a SPF30 face cream.

Bearing in mind if you're indoors in broad daylight and you're near a window, especially large glass windows generally, then the UV rays are still catching your face.

'Nivea Q10 UV Face Anti-Aging/Anti-Pigments SPF50' is a good one. Moisturising, feels nice on the skin and you don't need to use a separate moisturiser with it.

RacheyCat · 11/02/2021 03:21

Thanks, @DeeCeeCherry. I just bought a LRP factor 50 facial sunscreen with illuminating bits in it, called Uvidea xl tone up - I think it's just for the Asian markets (I'm in Asia), so I'll give that a try. I'm going to be working in a huge glass building so I guess it's necessary. Hopefully the illuminating bits will make me artificially glowy too.

IMO the problem with sunblocks is the ingredients, they have never given me glowy skin (the opposite!) if they're effective they make me look white as a sheet.

I'm lucky in that I don't have to go out between 11am and 3pm. (it does seem to be getting hotter and sunnier for longer now, global warming i suppose). If I do have to, a good hat is my choice. With a mild spf powder. Wrinkles are still there with glowy skin but a good lifstyle makes them less obvious.

workshy44 · 11/02/2021 10:27

Stop wearing makeup. Seriously I haven't worn it in months and the difference to my skin is AMAZING. It is so so much clearer
I can't believe it. Once lockdown is over I will still wear on a night out etc but the days of wearing it everyday are over. To be honest, a few weeks after you stop wearing it you won't actually need to

ppeatfruit · 11/02/2021 11:26

Yes that's true workshy. I never wear foundation , just a bit of eye make up sometimes when I go out (because with the masks, the eyes are emphasised ).

Nohomemadecandles · 11/02/2021 13:08

@workshy44 absolutely! Agree. I've stopped because I haven't been "seen" and realised I've probably been using too much for too long and I don't really need it. We are so conditioned to cover up, aren't we?

lazylinguist · 11/02/2021 16:35

Giving up make-up sounds like a great idea, but it didn't work for me tbh. I have pale, slightly sallow-toned skin. A lack of clearness isn't my problem, it's just my natural skin tone that's crap. The only time I don't wear foundation is when I have a tan.

doadeer · 11/02/2021 16:40

No make up didn't make any difference for me. Though better skin has meant I no longer really need much makeup except a nice lip colour if I fancy it or some bronzer.

What made a difference was vit c serum, acid exfoliate and a good general routine. I layer with lots in the evening and the glow lasts the whole of the next day, I only do vit c and Spf in the morning.

Excuse my stupidness but someone mentioned temple spa is a MLM... what is an MLM?!

VanGoghsDog · 13/02/2021 14:04

This is good: www.perriconemd.com/blog/dr-perricones-3-day-diet/

lazylinguist · 13/02/2021 14:53

MLM means multi level marketing. It's basically a pyramid scheme. Most of them are unscrupulous and persuade people to become sellers, who have to spend a fortune to buy into the business and then hassle all their friends and family on FB desperately trying to flog the stuff, but rarely manage to actually make money out of it. There are long-running threadson MN about them.

Eng2345 · 13/02/2021 17:51

That’s disappointing to know, I quite liked temple spa products!

A vitamin c face wash, azelaic acid, moisture and drink lots of water. Oh and sleep! I noticed I glowed amazingly after a bit of dermaplaning too.

Realitea · 13/02/2021 19:22

Forgot to mention, for a glowing make up look, even better glow by clinique is great. Also radiance concealer from YSL, mixed with a pink concealer for brightening, green for redness, etc. Another one is bare minerals powder foundation in original. These all have great glows.

VanGoghsDog · 14/02/2021 00:45

No baking? What, not even sour dough?

ppeatfruit · 14/02/2021 09:47

ERFFER Do you mean no burnt food? I know that does nothing\damages my skin. it's ok to bake lightly and not too much of course though, surely?

Oh yes Realitea a good solid night's sleep is fantastic for everything!

ERFFER Oh you mean baking in the SUN Grin. Oh I know I wear very good sunglasses and make a point of not going out during the midday hours. ( and the hours either side).

BUT I also noticed that cutting out dairy foods, plus too much salty food stops helps the puffiness of the bags under the eyes. As we get older.

crazyontheweekend · 14/02/2021 16:08

My (40+ year old) skin looks glowy when I use a fruit/acid exfoliater (Elemis Papaya Peel) once or twice a week, cleanse daily with a creamy cleanser and hot cloth (currently using Liz Earle), moisturise at night with a simple cream & facial oil & in the morning with an spf plus hyaluronic acid serum.

Also drink lots of water and herbal tea, very low alcohol, healthy diet, yoga and walks outdoors and good sleep.

But despite all of that, only make up really makes it look its best. Light make up though.
My best tip is steer clear of anything powdery as you get older and use a tinted moisturiser and cream blusher (I even mixing with a dab of Vaseline for extra glow).

Ooooh thank you ERFER I'm not exactly 'with it' Blush That's why some 'celebrities' occasionally look MUCH younger than their years, and the next time you see them they look 20 years older than their age Grin

Like botox and face lifts! Our skin can't take all that dragging and tightening without getting worse, actually looking much older Grin
