Warm and sexy dressing gown? Is that a thing?

maybenextyear · 03/02/2021 12:00

I need a new dressing gown. I'm fed up of looking like an extra from Shameless in the mornings. Can anyone recommend a dressing gown that will keep me warm and not add 8 dress sizes to my body shape? In an ideal world one of those lovely floaty silky numbers would do the job but sadly silk doesn't keep me warm in this house. Any ideas? Does such a thing exist?

Cashmere ones are very lovely if you can afford them. I have one from the white company that I’ve had for 10 years so they last well too.

WagnerTheWehrWolf · 03/02/2021 13:11

I've been looking at these which are 70% cashmere/30% silk.

Oh wowwwww @WagnerTheWehrWolf those are all STUNNING!! So expensive though 😫😢 I may have to start a dressing gown fund now!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/02/2021 14:16

One hundred stars long gowns - beautiful, warming... but I must confess not nearly as warm as my non sexy M&S fluffy hooded dressing gown

Labobo · 03/02/2021 14:20

Cashmere would work. DC bought me a gorgeous silk dressing gown a few years ago which has a fine fleece lining, so it's pure silk on the outside, flattering but really cosy. It came from Next but I don;t think they still do them.

PenOrPencil · 03/02/2021 14:22

I am pretty sure that warm and sexy are mutually exclusive! Grin

WagnerTheWehrWolf · 03/02/2021 14:24

@Glitterandglow, they're not cheap but they're not expensive enough for me to dismiss. They're in the danger zone basically!

These are lovely. I’d size up one for wrapability. The they are warm but also translucent. You need something underneath for opening the door to the postie.

Flippyferloppy · 03/02/2021 14:25

Wow! Those Shibumi Styles ones are stunning!!!

maybenextyear · 03/02/2021 14:53

You are all wonderful, thank you so much for your suggestions and your time! I shall take a look!

I have this with matching lounge joggers in the dark grey for ultra warm

New life goal. I'm in love!

ZaraW · 03/02/2021 15:19

I have the shibumi cashmere/silk dressing gown. They are beautiful but not that warm.

Currently wearing an old cashmere one I bought from EBAY years ago. It was from Saks and I got it new for a great price.

MontalbanoFan · 03/02/2021 15:39

Zara, are the shibumi dressing gowns long?
I’m only 5ft tall so I don’t want anything I could trip over.
They ARE lovely though. I can just see me wafting around in the pale cyan one.
Ankle-length would be brilliant.

mrssmiling · 03/02/2021 15:42

Might be worth a look. Wool and silk combination looks warm and lovely but would need dressing gown fund!

ZaraW · 03/02/2021 15:48

MontalbanoFan yes they are long. I'm 5'9" and it's 1.5" above my ankles.

I got mine 50% off in the sale.

Pigtailsandall · 03/02/2021 15:50

I have this from Toast. It's cotton but lined, and very flattering and comfy.

I have a robe from D&D. It’s not necessarily ‘sexy’... but it’s very presentable and it’s lovely and warm - it’s one of the quilted cotton ones. And machine washable etc - I imagine not all the wool/silk/cashmere ones would be, so something to keep in mind.

Hemlock2013 · 03/02/2021 16:30

@ZaraW, sorry to pester you with questions but what are the sizes like with shibumi? I’m at 10 top and 10/12 bottom, I’m wondering if small would be ok? X

ZaraW · 03/02/2021 16:45

Hemlock2013 I'm guessing I got a small I'm 8 on top 10 on bottom. It's quite big on me so I would think a small would work.

I bought it a few years ago and there's no size label as it wouldn't work as it's reversible.

Warm and sexy dressing gown? Is that a thing?
Whitney168 · 03/02/2021 16:49

I dived on their sale this year in the hope there'd be some reductions, but none on these fabulous dressing gowns unfortunately.

One day I will crumble and buy one at full price.

faustina · 03/02/2021 17:40

Those Shibumi dressing gowns are so beautiful. I also have the Woolovers merino cashmere one in charcoal and I can't honestly say it's exactly sexy, but it is warm and you can machine wash it (delicate wash) and it's totally bombproof - I've had it a couple of years and have worn it every day since then - it also doesn't add five sizes to me because it's thin (but still warm)

Oh Christ, why did you have to post that link. They are exquisite!

MontalbanoFan · 03/02/2021 18:51

Thanks, Zara, for the info regarding the length. I thought they’d be on the long side when I saw the pictures of the models wearing them.

Oh well, I’ve saved myself a couple of hundred quid or more Grin.

BestZebbie · 03/02/2021 18:57

Tbh I’d also vote for M&S hooded....snuggly to hug and whilst not skimpy “sexy”....I imagine a lot more sex is had overall with toasty warm comfy women then freezing cold ones! :-)
