Anyone recommend a micro current device?

I’m in my mid 40s and definitely have jowls, wrinkles etc. I also have acne so not keen to try creams, serums etc.
I’ve been looking at the NUFACE micro current device and wondering whether it actually works?!!! Looking to tone up my skin. Would love to hear your thoughts Smile

@westr fantastic! Brilliant news, I'll have to cancel my PayPal dispute now! 😂

Openupmyeagereyes, a you tube video I was watching on the bear said that because the forehead muscle extends way into the scalp, you can feel sensations in your scalp when using it on the forehead muscles. I also get this feeling.

Mine also gets a bit tingly when I go near my earrings or necklace (can't be bothered to take them off!)

openupmyeagereyes · 21/02/2021 19:46

Thanks SophieLion, glad I’m not the only one. I found it slightly better this morning. I turned it down to the lowest setting and pressed my other hand down over the front of my head, along the hairline and that seemed to help. It’s strange as it doesn’t tingle on my actual forehead.

How quickly did you all see results? I’m kidding myself that I can already see an improvement Blush

SophieLion · 21/02/2021 20:01

I started at the beginning of Feb openupmyeagereyes so it's not been even a month for me yet. I do it every evening at the moment and do a longer routine than the app. I think I can see a difference already. I'm using the highest setting plus the sonic pulses.

There was a photo on another thread of the eye area and the improvement with the bear was very impressive. She'd been using it for a month maybe.

openupmyeagereyes · 21/02/2021 20:14

Sounds like I’m kidding myself then as it’s only been a few days! 🤣. I’m hoping it will help with NL folds, worse on the side that I sleep on, jaw and hooded eyelids. We shall see.

Last year I paid for the Face Yoga Method 6 week boot camp but then I got Covid and everything went out of the window. I keep re-doing the first couple of days, must get back to it properly.

I think 8-10 weeks is a reasonable time to hopefully see improvement.

One month in... not so much.

westr · 23/02/2021 20:09

I've just tried my bear for the first time but only for about 1 minute. Also didn't have enough gel so need to order some. Didn't hurt at all although there was a slight tingle and it didn't move across my skin very quickly - I think that was the lack of gel.

HappyKatieA · 23/02/2021 22:12

SO glad it arrived @westr. I've been using mine with some aloe Vera gel from Amazon (recommended upthread). It's working well, have definitely found it's better with more gel!

westr · 23/02/2021 22:29

Thanks! It's a shame Toby deals stopped trading as it was an excellent deal. I've ordered some Vichy 89 which is recommended on the skincare thread and I'm going to watch the YouTube vids as well.

HappyKatieA · 24/02/2021 06:46

@westr I know, all those poor people out of jobs! We bought so many things from them over the years!
Ooh, I'll have a look at the Vichy too 👍🏽

SophieLion · 24/02/2021 08:52

I am currently using the foreo serum serum serum and then will use the mineral 89. I spray some Vichy mineral water on my Face ID I feel the hear is gliding well so that it doesn't pull at the skin.

SophieLion · 24/02/2021 13:43

Sorry too many typos above. Blush Should Have said : "if I feel the bear isn't gliding well"

sergeantmajor · 24/02/2021 14:00

Is it worth getting the Bear MINI instead? I'm a cheapskate. Or would I really need the full size one to hoick up my face slippage?

westr · 24/02/2021 22:16

How much serum/gel are you using? I finished the sample I got with my bear tonight but it didn't go anywhere. I guess you need to lash it on.

BangingOn · 25/02/2021 08:11

I’m just using regular aloe vera gel, a few different gels were recommended further up the thread but I already had a bottle of cheap stuff in the bathroom and it’s working fine.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 25/02/2021 09:21

I’m using the Vichy 89 as gel but like @westr I’m not sure how much to use?

westr · 25/02/2021 21:26

My Vichy 89 hasn't arrived yet so I made do tonight with the ordinary hyaluronic acid (someone on the skincare thread said you could use that). I put loads on and my skin was still dragging a bit. I'm going to try the aloe Vera gel instead I think.

I'm doing 2 of the routines on the app each night Is that about right? Should I be feeling anything afterwards?

westr · 25/02/2021 22:18

Urgh and now I have dried bits of serum all over my face even though I cleansed afterwards.

TawnyPippit · 25/02/2021 23:12

I’m using aloe Vera gel, and it works really well. (I had a tube from Holland & Barrett from when I was planning to make my own hand sanitiser this time pretty much last year Hmm) You can be quite generous with it - I thought the Foreo sample was weeeny, and just didn’t feel like there was enough slip. I spritz it with some water if I am doing a longer session, then just wipe off any excess.

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/03/2021 17:36

@OrangeVelour

I've been using the Rio 60 Second Facelift and I love it! I've only had it for a few weeks, but I can definitely see a difference. I mainly bought it to lift my top lip a bit as I've noticed it's been getting a bit longer as I've got older. There are quite a few videos on it on Youtube.
I’m on day 2 of using mine and I already love it! I’ve watched lots of tutorials but having played around with it I’m starting to see that holding it in the position of key muscle groups is the way to go, instead of trying to roll it around your face.

There are places on your face and into your hairline that put your face into the position you want. So I hold it there for a good minute then move on. I’m nearly 50 and my face has definitely got longer, I can really see the jowls now. I’m not adverse to a lower face lift but I’m going to try and out it off until I’m 50. So I’m hoping this might help stave off the droop.

scarfaceace · 10/03/2021 13:10

I got myself a micro-current device after reading this thread, and after a week or so I came up in a rash all over my neck and cheek area. At first I thought it was the gel, but then realised it was the nickel in the balls (I do have an allergy to nickel, sadly). I sent it back and customer service were great and gave me a refund immediately - they also said there is nickel in all of those devices.

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention that in case anyone else with a nickel allergy is thinking about getting one. It's something that never even occurred to me!

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/03/2021 14:18

Oh no @scarfaceace, how annoying!!!! Nickel is an excellent conductor alongside iron and steel, so I can understand why it’s potentially in all of them.

Just to be doubly annoying I have to say I LOVE mine. I think I’m only on day three or four of using it but I’m already seeing glimpses of my old face. I’m kicking myself I didn’t start using one a decade ago.

scarfaceace · 10/03/2021 14:41

Hi @justanotherneighinparadise, thanks.

I was so optimistic when I got mine, and I'm gutted that I can't use it as I really thought it might be doing something. It's great you're enjoying yours and I'm sure you'll soon have your old face back.

My search continues...

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/03/2021 14:45

There must be one with just stainless steel 🤔
