Does anyone on here only wear dresses?

I have recently bought 3 dresses (I don't own any apart from these 3). They are all maxi (long sleeves) or midi (long sleeves) dresses and they are so comfortable. I usually just wear jeans and a top but have never found jeans that fit and am finding that just putting a dress on each day is so easy (you don't have to worry about what matches with what, you just put one thing on and you're done). Are there any other dress converts out there and if so, what do you wear on your feet, what styles do you prefer and where do you get your favourite ones from?

Yep I almost only wear dresses too- with either leggings or tights and flat knee high boots. Love them and so much more comfy than trousers.

Notcoolmum · 13/01/2021 15:02

I wear a lot of dresses. Saltwater sandals or white Adidas in the summer. Tights and fake DMs/fly ankle boots/black vans/white Adidas on the colder months. Or right now slippers!

HeronLanyon · 13/01/2021 15:03

I haven’t worn a dress since I was around 11 or 12. ! Lots of skirts. No idea why this is. May give one a go !

notacooldad · 13/01/2021 15:16

I tend to only wear dresses.
I buy from EMP
Banned
OhhBetty
Seamstress of Bloomsbury
Lady Vintage
For special occasions I like Nancy Mac

Someone asked about shoes.
In winter for work I tend to wear either Nike Air in Black or the boots pictured.
I tend to wear a cardi at rock as one minute we are cold, next its roasting!
This winter I've worn a Teddy coat and if I was going out ( as if!) I wear an All Saints biker jacket or my 40 year old levi jacket.

Barring staying in days I mainly wear dresses, tights and ballet pumps. They are so comfy and more flattering for my figure.

movingonup20 · 13/01/2021 15:37

I mostly wear dresses especially for work. More comfortable sitting. I have jeans for casual

ZootSuit · 13/01/2021 22:28

@Waferbiscuit any belt recommendations? I love the dress and belt look, and have lots of dresses but haven’t quite found the right belt yet. I’ve got lots of skinny ones which look alright, and I got a thick elastic one after seeing it on someone else but it looks a bit... medical maybe? Not sure but not 100% about it!

whatever1980 · 13/01/2021 22:58

I own about 7 Abigail Boden dresses all in different colours and patterns and they're basically my work uniform which I dress up with jewellery, cardigans and jackets I'd have a meeting. Have some other dresses from Hobbs. My colleagues have never seen me in trousers

StarlightLady · 14/01/2021 07:31

I wouldn’t so much describe myself as a dress convert, as l’ve said previously on S&B, they have been my wardrobe go to for years; easy to wear and easy to look after.

I tend to try and avoid buying too many things from the same place, although l have a few from John Lewis, Next, joe Browns, Oliver Bonus, Zara and House of Fraser, with concessions such as Mint Velvet.

By accessorising differently, you can convert from the casual to almost posh frock.

Yes, l do wash after every wear as l would a top, but the additional length makes little difference to a washing load and l try to choise things that require minimum if any ironing.

On feet l tend to wear ballet flats or a court shoe (l don’t do heels) or, if just about the house, a pair of socks, not a pretty sight but I don’t wear (or allow) outdoor shoes in the house.

Legs? Autograph seamfree (they must be seamfree) opaque tights this time of year, sheer stockings (l’m old school!) in autumn and spring before celebrating the bare leg season.

StarlightLady · 14/01/2021 07:46

Re my post above, l’ve just read it through after posting; typical of me. l didn’t mean to suggest l never wear trousers, jeans, leggings or a skirt. But l am in dresses most of the time.

I wouldn’t wear leggings with a dress though, each to their own, but so not me.

HighHeelBoots · 14/01/2021 07:50

I wear dresses more than anything. I have a high waist and narrow hips so trousers don't fit well and fall down if I don't wear a belt which I find uncomfortable
I seek out dresses with pockets. I love pockets

Looneytune253 · 14/01/2021 07:54

I've always loved dresses but never felt comfortable in tights. Discovered snag tights and now I genuinely wear dresses every day. Discovered popsy dresses and now I have a few they're so comfy and flattering.

Sauvignonblanket · 14/01/2021 07:57

@whatever1980 Same here! Exactly this style then lots of different colours.

londonmummy1234 · 14/01/2021 08:05

In the summer I live in maxi and midi dresses with trainers.
In the winter I live in sweaty Betty leggings and chunky jumpers. Unless I want a smarter look then it's mini smock dress with tights and boots.
I'm not very experimental! But I really miss dresses when the cold weather starts so I am excited for spring to come. I usually try and get away with wearing dresses into late September by shoving a jumper on top.
Dresses are the best!

Morgan12 · 14/01/2021 08:07

Yep I love dresses. I also swapped tights for seamless leggings to up the comfort.

This spring/summer I plan to live in floaty midi dresses.

I HATE jeans!

CherryRoulade · 14/01/2021 08:17

In normal times I wear dresses a lot. I never wear trousers for work or social events - they are my dog walking/ scruff order clothes. Not quite the same in lockdown where I’ve no reason to look more presentable.

Work I wear ‘tailored’ dresses with tights and heeled shoes (or maybe boots in winter). Shoes with lighter tights in summer.

Socially informal jersey or wrap dresses unless a more formal social event. Worn with tights and ankle boots in winter, sandals or slip ones in summer. Heels if formal.

For holidays I do have a few maxi skirts/dresses that travel well and are very comfortable for evenings after a day on the beach, sailing or walking etc. They hide comfortable slip ons or sandals very well. Rarely do I wear heels on holiday.

AuntieMarys · 14/01/2021 08:22

I am the opposite! I never wear dresses or skirts.

HouseofBrieandBanter · 14/01/2021 08:25

I wear mainly dresses

I like jersey dresses like Seasalt ones, I know they are not fashion, but I offset the flowery tweeness with chunky boots (similar to the Shuh ones upthread) or trainers.

I like M&S opaque tights

Also wear shirt dresses, have some lovely ones from Anthropologie.

Dresses are so comfy, and suit my figure (curvy with long legs)

I am aware dresses with boots/trainers/chunky shoes is a bit 90s Grin and one is not meant to wear the same clothes as in one’s youth Blush ... but oh well

Littlebeach · 14/01/2021 08:26

Live in dresses in the summer but in winter I struggle as I get cold and find I need loads of cardigans which can spoil the look.
What do you wear for coats? I have a
Long ‘dress’ coat but it’s not waterproof if I’m walking the dog, otherwise my dress looks very odd under my waterproof coat.

HouseofBrieandBanter · 14/01/2021 10:37

I have a knee length waterproof coat

I also wear leggings and an old t shirt for walking the dog in the muddy months , then change when I get home Grin

endlesscraziness · 16/01/2021 19:15

I live in dresses. Thick tights from snag tights in the winter, knee boots and a blazer, cardi and scarf if more casual

Pulluptothebumperbaby · 16/01/2021 21:23

Be prepared to change your lives and seriously deplete your bank balance because.....

POPSY CLOTHING is amazing!!

I have over twenty of their dresses. The have a range of styles - blouson, midi, maxi, flat/gathered waist, trapeze - and the prints are fabulous. And the best thing??? THEY HAVE POCKETS!!!
They also do loungewear, pyjamas, tights, chubrub shorts and they are launching dungarees this year.

I love these dresses! The amazing family-owned business gives back to the community and their customers. The service and support is second to none!!

Egghead68 · 16/01/2021 21:26

I live in dresses too. So easy and comfortable. I wear them with trainers or ankle boots.

WhataCant · 17/01/2021 08:58

@Pulluptothebumperbaby the trouble with Popsy is so many (all?) of their dresses are polyester. They have lovely prints, cuts that would suit me and pockets (!) but the fabric makes them a big no-no. If they ever start using cotton I’ll probably replace my entire wardrobe Grin

Stealthynamechange · 17/01/2021 11:28

@WhataCant ditto! Love the styling of popsy but can't stand the material, such a shame.
