Does anyone on here only wear dresses?

I have recently bought 3 dresses (I don't own any apart from these 3). They are all maxi (long sleeves) or midi (long sleeves) dresses and they are so comfortable. I usually just wear jeans and a top but have never found jeans that fit and am finding that just putting a dress on each day is so easy (you don't have to worry about what matches with what, you just put one thing on and you're done). Are there any other dress converts out there and if so, what do you wear on your feet, what styles do you prefer and where do you get your favourite ones from?

Yes, I mostly wear dresses because, like you say, they are comfortable and require very little coordination with anything else.

I wear with chunky white trainers or Doc Martins mostly.

River Island and surprisingly George at Asda do great dresses. Have not been impressed with Topshop

ParisJeTAime · 12/01/2021 08:49

I love dresses for the reason you've mentioned, but I find maxi dresses impractical for wet weather and shorter dresses too cold at the moment! I live in jeans and leggings at the moment! Can't wait for spring (aka the start of dress and skirts season).

PS: if I find nice dresses with pockets, I am ridiculously happy!

PrimeraVez · 12/01/2021 08:49

I live in a hot country and wear dresses 95% of the time - a lot of mini smock dresses, tea dresses etc. Usually with Birkenstocks, Havaianas or Vans (sorry, realise that's not much use in a UK Winter, assuming you are in the UK!) If I was in the UK, I would be wearing with chunky tights and ankle boots!

But yes, dresses are soooo much easier, and more comfortable!

ServeTheServants · 12/01/2021 08:50

Meant to say that I wear a combo of mostly midi and short tiered dresses (I tend to wear sheer black tights and DMs with the latter)

TottiePlantagenet · 12/01/2021 08:56

Yes, I mostly wear dresses, it's rare for me to be in jeans or trousers (not counting lounge wear for at home days).

I'm short, many midi dresses end up as full length on me but I don't mind.

I wear trainers or chunky ankle boots, Birkenstocks, brogues - mostly flat shoes, haven't felt the need or had occasion for heels for a long time!

My dresses are mainly from Zara, H&M, Cos, Uniqlo and Whistles.

If you use Instagram, there's an account called dresslovingmama that I really like.

LegoPirateMonkey · 12/01/2021 08:59

I live in midi dresses for the same reason. Ankle boots in autumn/winter, ballet flats and Birkenstocks in spring/summer. I like Boden, Seasalt and Toast and always pick up nice jumper dresses from ASOS.

limesoda · 12/01/2021 09:00

I mostly wear dresses for all the reasons you have mentioned. I love them, although I tend to go for short.

Shoe wise I wear birks and white trainers in summer and black trainers, brogues and ankle boots in winter. This year I finally bought the grenson nanette boots I've been obsessing over for a year or two and they are so good with dresses.

LegoPirateMonkey · 12/01/2021 09:04

Which white trainers do people wear with dresses? I can’t find any that I don’t look graceless and short legged in!

Flittingaboutagain · 12/01/2021 09:10

Me.

I almost exclusively wear dresses. I have formal work dresses (for the old days) and casual dresses. The former are from Zara, Reiss, M&S, Ted Baker and then loads of everyday dresses from H&M, Tu at Sainsbury's, Boden, FatFace, White Stuff.

I wear a lot of dresses with leggings or tights and knee high boots, ankle boots or low heel court shoes in various colours.

It's so easy to get ready!

PopsicleHustler · 12/01/2021 09:12

I literally live in dresses and leggings.

CodenameVillanelle · 12/01/2021 09:15

For work, yes. Thick tights or leggings in winter with lace ups or DM boots and Birkenstocks in summer. I don't pretend to be stylish though.
At the moment I live in leggings and long tops with a hoodie 6 days a week.

ChaToilLeam · 12/01/2021 09:17

Most of the time I live in dresses. Velour or some other heavier fabric in winter and light cotton in summer. Makes it easier to look put together and they are so comfortable. Birkenstocks or sneakers on my feet in summer, ballerinas sometimes, and in winter tights and knee boots.

The best thing is that they are very forgiving if your weight fluctuates. I lost weight and can still wear the same dresses but needed to get new jeans and trousers.

Snackz · 12/01/2021 09:21

Since becoming pregnant and refusing to pay over the top for maternity clothes, I've started to wear dresses a lot more and love them!

I usually wear Dr Martens with either leggings or tights Smile

Stealthynamechange · 12/01/2021 09:21

Sorry to hijack - please can some one post links to boots to wear with dresses? I live in dresses in spring/summer but never know what to put on my feet in winter!

Snackz · 12/01/2021 09:22

@Stealthynamechange definitely Dr Martens! Smile

JustAnotherUserinParadise · 12/01/2021 09:28

I wear (wore) them for work all the time. Mostly wrap-style jersey dresses, with opaque black/navy leggings and calf-length brown/black leather boots from Rieker. Generally also with a cardigan, I think I have a cardigan in pretty much every colour of the rainbow!

Sometimes bare-legged with sandals in the summer. Or with tights and flats.

I have nice ones from Dorothy perkins, fat face, BHS, h&m...

Now WFH and pregnant I'm just wearing tracksuit bottoms with tops and long cardigans!

freezingmytoesoff · 12/01/2021 09:31

Yes I only wear dresses, in fact I only own dresses.
I have a small waist but am somewhat large of hip and thigh which means trousers do absolutely nothing for me and I struggle to find skirts to fit - dresses skim over all the problem areas and just look better.

It's also just chuck on and go - so much easier.
My winter wardrobe is essentially just my summer wardrobe with tights.

MedusasBadHairDay · 12/01/2021 09:38

Mostly skirts and dresses, though I'm currently wearing my dungarees. I'm really short, so it's much easier to find skirts/dresses than trousers, eg. I buy midi skirts to wear as maxis. Plus they are just so much more comfortable, I prefer waistbands to sit on my natural waistline, trousers rarely do.

MedusasBadHairDay · 12/01/2021 09:40

Same Grin It's great if you want a low effort wardrobe

CarlottaValdez · 12/01/2021 09:41

I don’t own any trousers at all. I’m a short fat potato and I find dresses the most forgiving and easy.

TottiePlantagenet · 12/01/2021 09:47

Stealthynamechange I think these are good, if you're tall or long legged. I wear a shorter version cos I'm a shortie.

I like these too, but again I find they are too high on the leg for me unfortunately.

DaphneBridgerton · 12/01/2021 09:51

@LegoPirateMonkey Some people can get away with chunky trainers and dresses... in my experience most people will look great in a dress and either a white stan smith or Veja trainer in white. They are quite "flat" and minimalist and really work with midi dresses of all styles

ChairinSage · 12/01/2021 09:58

I'm wearing mostly dresses too. I tend to wear short dresses with thick tights and brogues, DMs or Moshulu boots in the winter. My job is part office and part factory based, so I need to be practical and smart-casual. Dresses are from White Stuff, Fatface, Mistral and Mint Velvet, mostly found in charity shops. When it's really cold, I put a long sleeved thermal top on under it. I always wear a slip as it stops the dress from clinging!

LegoPirateMonkey · 12/01/2021 10:02

Thank you @DaphneBridgerton!
