Does anyone on here only wear dresses?

I have recently bought 3 dresses (I don't own any apart from these 3). They are all maxi (long sleeves) or midi (long sleeves) dresses and they are so comfortable. I usually just wear jeans and a top but have never found jeans that fit and am finding that just putting a dress on each day is so easy (you don't have to worry about what matches with what, you just put one thing on and you're done). Are there any other dress converts out there and if so, what do you wear on your feet, what styles do you prefer and where do you get your favourite ones from?

Total dress convert here too (and I speak as someone who wore ZERO DRESSES between age 20 and 40, apart from my wedding dress)

Am 44 now and it Turns out all I needed was to find the right dress style for my body type! . Sack/smock dresses work so well on me, I’m tall and athletic build with no hips or waist or boobs, and thought ‘a dress’ had to be a clingy little number which always made me look even less curvy and just plain large (Which I’m not).

I have loads of short ish sack type dresses now and also lots of loose midi dresses. I love how easy and comfy and flattering for my figure they are. Pair of tights and boots in winter, trainers in summer... done.

I used to live in jeans but have barely worn them now for 3-4 years.

SuddenArborealStop · 12/01/2021 10:14

I always wear dresses, I don't like things touching my legs Blush tights are even an issue for me but my blue white legs are too much for the world to have to put up with in winter. In summer I don't care and I have them out without tan, fuck it that's the colour I am why pretend.

limesoda · 12/01/2021 10:23

@LegoPirateMonkey stan smiths, converse (with insoles) or superga are my go to. I love the look of veja but I find them horribly uncomfortable.

LegoPirateMonkey · 12/01/2021 10:29

Oh really @limesoda? I looked up veja and thought they look perfect but definitely don’t want to spend £115 on uncomfortable shoes!

CarlottaValdez · 12/01/2021 10:33

I’ve just taken up running and am even doing that in a tunic dress and leggings.

BeaLola · 12/01/2021 10:34

dresses 70 % of time & 30% skirts - like a pp - I dont own any trousers - am small waisted but very big on thighs, tummy and hips.

I buy from H&M , Boden & Boden.

In winter I wear ankle boots and in summer Supergas or Birkenstock's or Havianas.

I have lots of cardigans to add on when it's colder - can't beat a dress IMO

MacDuffsMuff · 12/01/2021 10:34

I'm a total convert. I never used to wear dresses ( the very occasional skirt in my 20s) but I mostly wear dresses for work now, especially in winter. Usually midi with opaques and ankle boots. A million times more comfortable than trousers.

Stealthynamechange · 12/01/2021 10:35

Thank you @TottiePlantagenet I'm now covetting those nanette boots!

lollipoprainbow · 12/01/2021 10:38

Yes I wear dresses for work as they are so easy just to put on in the mornings! I have an array of boots that I wear with them.

I quite like the idea of wearing dresses All the time but can I just ask if you wash your dresses after one wear like you would a top/jumper? I'm not sure I would like all the ironing involved in dresses. And yes, I couldn't wear without ironing. I know ironing is very unpopular on MN but I like ironed clothes I'm afraid.

I do yes, I'm an ironer too (I know, it's a sin on here Grin). I tend to iron as I wear because I find things get crushed in my wardrobe, so I just iron the dress I want to wear, the evening before.
LegoPirateMonkey · 12/01/2021 10:54

Jumper dresses and jersey dresses often don’t need ironing. I do iron dresses when they’re creased though and it is a bit of a faff especially as I favour flowing full-skirted ones.

DinosaurOfFire · 12/01/2021 10:54

I wear mostly dresses with thick leggings now (a 3 year old who likes to hide under my skirt means leggings are compulsory unless I want to flash the world on the school run!) In summer I wear sandals or trainers and in the winter knee high boots.

coronafiona · 12/01/2021 11:04

I wear them a lot in spring/ summer with boots, flats or trainers. They are comfy and easy!

coronafiona · 12/01/2021 11:05

Oh- also Apricot and white stuff are my favourite sources

Tartyflette · 12/01/2021 11:10

I love dresses in the summer, I live in them. So cool and easy. But I loathe tights or stockings with a passion so in the winter it has to be trousers or jeans all the way for me. ☹️
I'm really looking forward to Spring or warmer weather, whenever it arrives, so i can get into my dresses again.

MedusasBadHairDay · 12/01/2021 11:10

My biggest problem with preferring dresses/ skirts is that does tend to treat them as special occasion wear, so it's harder to find every day versions. Right now I'd love some nice warm woollen skirts, but I can't find them anywhere in my size.

Divebar · 12/01/2021 11:21

The problem for me about dresses is tights.... I need some more from Snag tights which are the comfiest I’ve found. In summer I get chub rub so I’ve tended to swerve away from them totally apart from special occasions. I do have a few from Arket, Kin and Monki that I would wear with trainers ( not with tights) ankle boots or DM shoes.

Try H and M I have bought two this winter really cosy and warm.
ElspethFlashman · 12/01/2021 11:23

I would love to be a dress person but as a tall apple, it ain't gonna happen. Sad

Tartyflette · 12/01/2021 11:25

Divebar Lanacane anti-chafing gel sorts out the chub rub for me.

TottiePlantagenet · 12/01/2021 11:26

I often wear a dress several times before it gets washed, I'll hang it up to air in between wears. I wear slips under a lot of my dresses, which are changed and washed more frequently. But in winter I often wear thermals under my dresses, so I'd change those for washing.

Thermal leggings (rolled up slightly, again I'm quite short) under long(ish) dresses is the answer for cold legs Tartyflette. Keeps you warm whilst still giving you the option of low socks to wear with trainers - especially if you wear white trainers, which I wouldn't wear with black tights. I'm also not a fan of tights anyway, but I find thermals are not so tight and much comfier.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 12/01/2021 11:26

I live almost exclusively in dresses. With Chelsea boots in colder weather and sandals in warmer weather. So comfortable and so easy.

QuentinWinters · 12/01/2021 11:27

Yes! I wear them with thermal leggings or footless tights and boots. Love me a dress. I have quite a lot from Joe Brown's and h&m

MedusasBadHairDay · 12/01/2021 11:30

Lolly49 I've always been let down by H&Ms plus size selection, so haven't bothered looking there in years. Plus my style means towards retro fashion anyway, It's be quite happy living in 40s(ish) fashion every day if I could.
