What instantly ages?

Whether that be clothing or cosmetics, I'm interested to hear your opinions. I have a few of my own thoughts on this, though I could be way off the mark.

Am in need of a boost and think I might be unwittingly ageing myself before my time.

Thanks.

In full!

Yes, of course. I was calling Bingo on the “judgy” thing.

@Ginfordinner

Opps, sorry *@Gwenhwyfar Blush. The question was meant for cakeallday*
Like I said, I suspect some people drive everywhere so don't have to think so much about practicalities. A wool coat and an umbrella might be enough if you're not out for long. I'm on foot or public transport so I do need comfortable shoes, warm and waterproof coats and lined hats. I try to think of practicality and what looks good.

Holdups that slip down

ARe there any other kind?!

Stiletto heels on anyone over 40

Well I am 47 and my shoe collection would shame Imelda Marcos. I will wear my heels and to hell with the world. Or should I trade them in for a nice sensible pair of these

@lentilsforlunch

Caked under eye concealer settling in the creases (can't get this right)
Me too. I have terrible dark circles so can't go without the concealer. I do use primer, but maybe I need powder as well, or would that be even worse? I find that the self-tan drops help A LOT with making the dark circles less of a contrast with the rest of the face so I disagree with the pp above who said fake tan is ageing.

@Madbengalmum

JaneGrey, of course they wear things differently., whenever have I mentioned i want to look the same as them, jees, this afternoon i swear people are just out to be rude arseholes! I don’t tend to read teenage publications, as i am not one, and I don’t have any teenagers. So I couldn’t really give a monkeys as to how they wear the items. Vogue, Harpers and Tatler don’t tend to be aimed at teenagers, but all of the aforementioned items have been featured in them.
Jeez. Okaaay...
Ginfordinner · 03/01/2021 16:57

I try to think of practicality and what looks good.

So do I, but I think my idea of what looks good fails in the eyes of MN Style and Beauty posters Grin
Ah, well. At least I am warm and comfortable.

stillcountingmyvotes · 03/01/2021 16:59

This thread is really interesting.
With a chronic eating disorder (really should have grown out of that one by now) I am never going to look younger than I really am.
But I'm inspired by some of the posters saying it's about looking great, not looking younger.
After decades of internalised misogyny, that's pretty effing revolutionary, when you think about it. I would like to embrace that.

Dont use concealer for dark circles. I found a trick when I had a bruised face (thank you ex)

Either dark pink creme blusher or red lipstick mixed with a bit of foundation. Put it under the eyes and blend in then use foundation. Works miracles!!

@PyongyangKipperbang maybe there is a critical mass (so to speak!) where one can be comfortably slim with minimal wrinkles. I need to lose a bit of weight so let's see if any wrinkles appear...if I actually do. Right now I cant be bothered. Too busy slobbing around the house in many of the outfits detailed on this thread....

Definitely! My problem is that I am so terrified of getting big again (was very big) that I dont eat properly so I although I could probably easily carry another half a stone and it would help, I cant bring myself to do it.

Yes I do think I may have an eating disorder.

woodhill · 03/01/2021 17:10

I like White Stuff but not all of it

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 03/01/2021 17:11

Semen

Apparently that's good for the face. Not for weight though, as apparently you can't burn the calories from semen.GrinGrin

Lily193 · 03/01/2021 17:12

Rice pudding

I love rice pudding. Is that terribly ageing?

UsernameSaved · 03/01/2021 17:13

Just the snow? or just the semen?
NiceGerbil · 03/01/2021 17:14

I believe the idea that semen is good for the face, originated from the same source that said it was high in protein and very nutritious, when I was a teenage girl.

IE, boys and men Grin

woodhill · 03/01/2021 17:16

😊

NiceGerbil · 03/01/2021 17:16

If you have a lot of wrinkles. You can mush rice pudding up and apply it to the face. It fills the nooks and crannies really well and so is an excellent primer.

You do need to leave it to harden for 30 mins before applying Foundation.

I'd rather wear those than bloody Primark, Top Shop, New Look or H&M, nasty cheap synthetic clothes.
Cocolapew · 03/01/2021 17:19

I have white/grey hair, it doesn't age me but it probably does make me look my age. Nothing wrong with that.
And, to be perfectly honest, I look fucking amazing.

AlwaysLatte · 03/01/2021 17:20

Grey hair! I thought for a while I might grow mine out as the roots in the first lockdown were lovely and soft and seemed to catch the light . I soon got over that one (although I'm due another visit now!) I've changed my hair products and got lovely soft hair now anyway.
Waterfall cardigans
Fleeces
Things with sequins or sparkle outside of Christmas and even then only in very small doses
No Make up (I have been doing this recently and it's not good!)
