Agree Philip was a bit of alright when he was younger.
Combined with his sense of humour no wonder the young Princess Elizabeth was smitten.

I think Philip the Master of Barbecues (as Harry called him) would have made a bloody good James Bond.

He was stunning. The engagement picture is gorgeous, they are both so good looking, stylish and madly in love.

Philip in his Navy uniform...oh my...I always thought he was rather gorgeous as a young chap but that pic is delicious.

I have never seen that particular photo of Philip in uniform. Wow. I know it's not just about looks, and he had many other appealing features (intelligence, worldliness, sense of humor) but it certainly helps you understand why Elizabeth stood her ground and insisted to her parents that she would have him and no one else. (Supposedly her mother was pushing forward various British aristocrats.)

I just like researching stuff & if it helps others out then brilliant.
And when you go off on a tangent you discover the most interesting things.
Such as Prince Philip & his male friends regularly frequenting The Savoy for meals & then drinks in The American Bar.
Then I go off at a tangent & read up on the history of The Savoy, The American Bar & its first female head bartenders!

I just love that photo! The children all look so sweet. Charlotte is going to be a real beauty I think and seems to have a firecracker personality, she's fab!

Just been looking at a brief film clip on BBC of Liz & Phil's wedding.

She must have shone and glittered that day in her Norman Hartnell dress, with the shimmering silk encrusted in pearl and diamanté embroidery.
She wore two pearl necklaces given to her as a wedding gift from her father, they had previously belonged to Queen Anne and Queen Caroline and are absolutely stunning.

Now that is a lovely photo of Great Granny & Great Grandpa with the the great grandkids.
I like how Kate has a knack of making her subjects (people in the photos) so relaxed that you actually see their real selves stripped of all artifice/decoration/pomp/grandeur.
Plus as it's a family member doing the photography it must be easier to relax.
I wonder if that's a desirable for a royal bride/bridegroom - ability to take good photos

I saw a short clip of Elizabeth & Philip's wedding in colour on the tv the other day. It was amazing & as Ada says HMQ was dazzling.

This photo was also released. Taken at Balmoral. I like the fact that it seems very natural, and they all seem to be going somewhere different! Kate looks very relaxed with baby Charlotte.
