Hello - let's hope we get a bit more glamour this year and fingers crossed for some tiara watching....

Prince Albert comes across well in those programmes. Monaco seems like a strange place, though.

I also enjoyed the Monaco series, and yes, I thought Albert came across well (obviously they didn't touch on his, ahem, dalliances).

I remember there was one clip of Albert and Charlene dancing together at some kind of charity event or ball, and it stuck me that they both looked genuinely happy & "in love" which was nice, seeing as Charlene does look unhappy on a lot of public occasions.

Maybe she does just hate the public stuff. I'd like to think that she was reasonably happy in her marriage, though.

CaveMum · 30/12/2020 10:04

It was the sheer indulgence and “normality” of the astronomical cost of things that got me watching the show. Some beautiful outfits though!

I do like that the terms for becoming a citizen are so strict!

Maireas · 30/12/2020 10:08

Yes! Albert seemed pleasant and not pretentious. They did seem like a happy family. True about Monaco!

I once did some work in Monaco, for a couple of weeks, and we stayed in the penthouse apartment of the client (who was abroad at the time, so we had it to ourselves). Rooftop garden, views over the sea, maid/housekeeper who cooked us lunch every day.

It was a brief insight into how the other half live!

We sadly didn't catch even a glimpse of any royals, though.

paradyning · 30/12/2020 18:01

Did anyone spot in the Monaco series (which I loved) when Charlene got out of the car back at the palace she marched in.

StartupRepair · 30/12/2020 20:18

Does the documentary show Charlene speaking French? I know she struggled with it in the early days.

MadameMiggeldy · 30/12/2020 23:07

You think this is the face the other royals make when they see Prince Andrew?

Grin As an aside, that shade of brown looks beautiful on Charlene.
Maireas · 31/12/2020 09:10

Grin Prince Frederick seems to have noticed something on the floor! Is there any colour Char looks bad in? Most people cannot wear that shade of brown, especially in an evening gown!

Happy new year all!
I think that was at CPV's wedding. Char got a roasting for not wearing any bling. I was mighty disappointed too if I remember

paradyning · 01/01/2021 00:39

Teddy is engaged. Huzzah!

paradyning · 01/01/2021 00:40

Oh ffs autocorrect. *Tessy!

LarsErickssong · 01/01/2021 09:02

Forgot to 'watch' this new thread and only just found it again so a belated thank you to @Maireas for starting it Smile. I've not caught up on what has been discussed but in case anyone hasn't mentioned it so far, if you want some bling to look at then I can recommend the new series Bridgerton on Netflix.

Maireas · 01/01/2021 09:15

Morning, Lars Willkommen, Bienvenu, Welcome!!
Happy New Year to you and all the sparkly commentators on here! Cheers! Wine

Happy New Year to you all!

New photo taken from Charlene and Albert's New Year message. Though I'm not a fan of her new hair, I can see how it kind of works to sharpen up her look - this pussy bow blouse, for example, might have looked a little staid and frumpy otherwise? Or am I clutching at straws?

MotherofPearl · 01/01/2021 11:20

I'm sorry to be dense @paradyning but who is Tessy?

MotherofPearl · 01/01/2021 11:22

Ah it's former Princess Tessy of Luxembourg! 🤦‍♀️

Maireas · 01/01/2021 11:22

Thanks, MotherofPearl - nice blouse and earring. Still not sure about the hair, but that's just my opinion! Is Tessy a Luxembourg royal?

OP posts:
paradyning · 01/01/2021 11:32

I still think she looks like she had an accident with the clippers. No matter how smooth the other side of her head is.

Yes Tessy of Lux. There was much sympathy for her in here during her divorce

viewsoftheshard · 01/01/2021 12:27

Just de lurking to say hello. I’ve been following these threads for over a year, and really enjoying all the comments and conversations. Though I have ended up down so many fascinating rabbit holes, and not sure anyone in real life knows how much I monitor the fashion and jewels of all the royal families!

Maireas · 01/01/2021 12:31

Morning, @viewsoftheshard and welcome!
We have our fingers crossed for more tiara activity this year....

The Tessy story
royalcentral.co.uk/europe/luxembourg/princess-tessy-releases-statement-on-divorce-case-112855/
Rolling my eyes at poor Prince Louis who can’t afford to support his ex wife and sons.

LadyEloise · 02/01/2021 14:11

£4000 a year per child support Shock

Are the Luxembourg Royal family wealthy ?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/01/2021 14:55

They're are supposed to be the wealthiest royal family in Europe with the Grand Duke having a personal fortune of around €4 billion.
Mind you I struggle balancing the books with a similar budget so I do sympathise............

It's disgusting isn't @LadyEloise
Tbh they don't sound like a very nice family well the older members don't.
