Hello - let's hope we get a bit more glamour this year and fingers crossed for some tiara watching....

From reading the book ma'am darling i agree that money doesn't always buy happiness.

Margaret seemed to lurch from one disaster to the next emotionally speaking. At first glance such an enviable position; wealth and privilege with no massive responsibility. In reality living within a set of clauses which restricts everything down to a narrow path of just existing as 'the Queen's respectable sister'. Strange life.

MotherofPearl · 10/01/2021 22:28

Yes I enjoyed the Lady Glenconner book very much. Her husband sounds as if he was an absolutely bizarre and awful man. That bit where he took her to a brothel in Paris.Shock

Eaumyword · 11/01/2021 20:27

I've bought the book! Can't wait for it to arrive to read all the salacious details. She was on Graham Norton and was an absolute hoot.
As pp have said though - what a gilded cage. I wouldn't want it for anything.

bettythebutterfly · 12/01/2021 02:00

@Hairydilemma I do! It's a great read.

gingercat02 · 14/01/2021 09:29

Not style but Royal goss. I saw on BBC that Fergie has written a Mills and Boon novel. I have never read one but I can imagine her doing a real bodice ripper (slightly tamer Jilly Cooper)

I saw that too - apparently it's based on her life?! 🤨
banivani · 14/01/2021 10:09

Mills and Boon! Grin Under a pen name or her real name???

There's an interview in Danish here with the designer who makes a lot of dresses for CPM www.bt.dk/royale/jesper-hoevring-syer-kjoler-til-kronprinsessen-jeg-maatte-lige-nive-mig-selv-i A bit on how they have to plan - is she going to be wearing an order of something then it can't be asymmetrical etc. Not very meaty but might be worth a google translate if you are bored.

A little collection of photos if you scroll down a bit.

gingercat02 · 14/01/2021 11:31

Under her name SF Duchess of York! Allegedly based on her g g Aunt but sounds completely made up. Not out until August but availble to pre-order.........

MotherofPearl · 14/01/2021 20:16

Thanks for posting banivani, I enjoyed scrolling through those pictures. I really love the lavishness of this outfit. I'm sure I'll be flamed for this, but that mixture of jewels and fur looks so wonderfully glamorous. Not that I'd buy fur myself. Smile

I don't think I'd buy fur but on our first trip to Venice years ago, I commented to the friend we stayed with about how many women there wore fur. Having been frozen to the core whilst there, I totally understood why! I've never been so cold in my life and could see the appeal. Actually, I often think how warm it must be to wear when I pick the rabbits up to put in the garden, when they snuggle up together the heat they retain is quite something.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 14/01/2021 22:19

I know what you mean Frugal. I love having my DCat sit/lay on me at the moment, she's so cosy.
One of my friends has a house rabbit who loves sitting on my friends feet. Who needs slippers.
Wonders if HMQ 'wears' the corgi/dorgis whilst she's watching TV

MadameMiggeldy · 15/01/2021 10:17

I loved the pictures @banivani. CPM gives good gown. She very much inhabits the role of Princess

banivani · 15/01/2021 11:35

Glad you enjoyed them! I've tried on fur on occassion and it is unsurpassed in cold weather. Like wool - natural materials are the best. I'm not really against fur myself, if I eat meat and wear leather it's hypocritical to be - but that's another debate and perhaps centers around general animal welfare etc. I couldn't be arsed having fur garments though, they require a lot of care and who has the energy for that.

In general the Nordic royal instagrams have been subdued after the tragic mudslide in Norway that killed ten people, but they're easing into it. On the Swedish one there's a cure pic of KCG as a little boy. www.instagram.com/p/CKB41MWgBb0/ you can see why the gossip press at the time went BANANAS over their little blond curly angel of a future king.

MadameMiggeldy · 15/01/2021 14:15

That’s such a cute picture of KCG.
Fab pic from Norwegian Insta Royal fan account of MM. Love the tiara.
Love. It.

Omg that tiara and matching earrings - amazing! A real work of art.

angstridden2 · 16/01/2021 10:29

Have to say golden haired child now looks like really grumpy old man.Queen Silvia in
Contrast always looks so smiley.

MotherofPearl · 16/01/2021 12:31

New photos of a video call Kate and William did earlier this week. I do like her hair up like this, and that blazer suits her.

Maireas · 16/01/2021 13:26

Kate looks lovely. She has gorgeous hair, but does suit an updo. Skin and make up are great. It's always nice to see Mette Marit looking well and happy, great amethyst bling going on there!

Kate looks immaculate and beautiful as ever. Her hair and makeup is fabulous. Am I alone in not liking her blazer too much? I'm not keen on the collar and think it's a bit ageing on her.

BobbinAround · 16/01/2021 19:19

Kate looks fabulous - I wish I had her skin.

I like the blazer over the black t-shirt. I'd like to think that she has her joggers on the bottom half!

LadyEloise · 16/01/2021 19:55

Kate looks nice but a lighter hand on the eyebrows would be better. You are drawn to the eyebrows rather than the lovely eyes.

Eaumyword · 16/01/2021 21:42

I think Kate has such a refined, serene look. I wish I could emulate it! I am 0-60 in 2 seconds at the moment (wretched menopause hormones!)

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/01/2021 02:51

Kate has such a kind face & kind eyes. And she's gorgeous too!
She always reminds me of Queen Alexandra of which people said could come across as a little reserved at first but when you got to know her she was so kind & caring & fun too. You'd have a friend for life.
I think Kate is like this - you'd have a friend for life......with the added bonus of a great sense of humour & excellent cake maker!

gluenotsoup · 17/01/2021 18:07

Hello, I’m a long time lurker on these threads, popping in to agree on how lovely Kate looks there. She looks luminous, when sometimes she can look a little dry, what do you think she has used or done differently? Looks a little like maybe a highlighter, but the foundation and eye colour are lovely and light, much softer, possibly a shadow liner to give definition on the lower lash line? I would love to know what products she has used! Agree that she looks kind, I also imagine a quietly loyal long time type of friend

Eaumyword · 18/01/2021 13:25

Hi Glue, I agree her skin does look luminous and totally wrinkle free! Which is interesting as I've definitely seen her with wrinkles at times! She looks really stunning.
I also agree - bet she is a good friend once you're in the circle and have proven yourself to be trustworthy.
