General beauty advent calendar discussion thread 2

New thread to continue discussion of any and all beauty advent calendars. As before please don’t post details of content before 7am on the relevant morning.

Only 3 days left to go . But we can continue to discuss products used, and those doing Jadvent please continue posting updates.

Day 2 for me, mini Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I actually also got one of these in my December Birchbox - they must have plenty in stock - but it will get used, unlike eyeliner. I've never tried this mascara before.

I won’t be the one doing it, though - not sure I’m capable of keeping my face completely still for a whole minute! I have a fair few lines because my face is quite mobile...

Well, I tried it and it was really quite like having a layer of cement on my face! I don't think I'll bother with that again.

My Selfridges one on Friday was a lush Byredo 1996 hand cream. Retails for £30! Smells gorgeous.
Yesterday was a Morphe highlighter stick that's gone straight in the present drawer

A bottle of Nails Inc red polish in Amazon today. Not exciting but a shade I’ll probably use.

Evolve Hyaluronic Serum from H&B. Approaching with caution as I think I had a reaction to the one from the Fenwicks calendar.

Forgot to do my Day 3 item - Hola Neon tinted balm. Don't know the brand. It looks just like a red lipstick to me. One to pass on I think.

I've done the first three days of the Roccabox Advent Calendar but as I still have a lot of stuff to use up from a Cult Beauty Skincare Edit box I bought in October, plus the John Lewis Advent Calendar I opened in December I've decided to save the rest for weekend treats to spread it out a bit longer. Hopefully this will discourage me from buying any more new products for a while too!

The Roccabox Advent calendar has got off to an interesting start. Day One was a Rose Quartz Lip Plump which has mixed reviews. It doesn't make any difference to the plumpness of my lips but it is nicely hydrating so will get used.

Day Two was a liquid food supplement from The Nue Co. It is their Immunity Defence drops and you're meant to squeeze one pipette full under your tongue either daily or just as and when you think you're coming down with something. Not a product I would expect from a Beauty Advent Calendar - more overall wellness I suppose - but it is something I will try out.

Day three was some rose gold eyelash curlers. A poster on the previous thread was singing the praises of hers and I had a good look round to see if I could find my old pair but couldn't so this is timely for me and I will trying them out when I next put make up on.

Overall - it has been an interesting start but the jury is out on whether it will end up being worth the £72 purchase cost for me personally. I'll post again next weekend when I've opened the next two.

A full size bottle of Ayumi turmeric & argan oil bodywash from H&B today. Smells gorgeous but really isn’t going to get used as I’m a bath not shower person.

Nip+Fab Extreme Glycolic Fix in Amazon this morning. I'm a bit wary of this one, I suspect it may leave my face raw!

Day 4 for me: Colour Wow pop and lock high gloss finish. It's in a tube that makes it look much more like a lip gloss than a hair product. Not something that will really work with my hair so may be passed on.

A wooden mirror (the mirror bit isn’t wooden, obvs). Somehow that nicely sums up the meh that is today.

Today is obviously meh all round - beige Mavala nail polish in Amazon.

I opened half price Lush 12 day calendar in one go. Six nice bath bombs for dd. Nice shower gels and body butters. Only weird thing was a shower gel that smelt like burnt wood.

So this is where the Jadvent openers are!

I'm doing Look Fantastic, which has been quite nice so far. Love the colour of the eyeshadow today. Not sure about the blusher in Day 1 and I do have enough make-up brushes, but I'm sure DD will be able to find a home for that!

God knows, we all need something to cheer us up at the moment, so I'm no longer feeling guilty for being extravagant!

Glad you're enjoying it. I continued LF from stephen's day on so am almost finished now. I haven't tried the blusher but not sure about it either. Dd will probably take that and the brush.

I loved that eyeshadow too. I got one that looks pretty identical, although it has a different number, in Glossybox last year. I use it as an eyeliner. It's a great colour on me so having a second is always good. My plan, if I ever get back in to the office, is to keep it in there as I wait until I get in to do makeup and breakfast in order to get in as early as possible and avoid traffic.

I've just had an awful thought after mentioning breakfast - I wasn't in the office the day we shut down in march. I really hope someone has emptied the fridge as I had a large tub of yoghurt in it

At least the black eyeliner is out of the way. There seems to be one in every calendar.

H&B gave me an Ethique Bliss Cleansing Bar today which looks great. Not sure where I’m going to keep it when I start using it though - it comes in a recyclable (but will quickly be soggy) cardboard box.

I use a coconut fibre soap rest. I got it in one of the local health shops. This is the one I got. It's great for soap.

Yesterday for my Day 5 was Algology Elixir des Vagues hydra replenishing booster (boosts your moisturiser) 30ml, and today's Day 6 is Elf Poreless Putty Primer - a teeny tiny but very cute little glass jar. Like the look of both.

Philip Kingsley pre-conditioner today. I might use it tomorrow - I'm determined to not save my advent contents this year - just get on and enjoy them!
