New thread to continue discussion of any and all beauty advent calendars. As before please don’t post details of content before 7am on the relevant morning.

Only 3 days left to go Sad. But we can continue to discuss products used, and those doing Jadvent please continue posting updates.

Coming over from the last thread. Not sure about two powders in the N-a-P calendar, but probably preferable to a black eyeliner!

CupboardMonster · 22/12/2020 10:48

Thank you @AprilLady I've really been enjoying this thread.

The Cult 51 product from F&M certainly isn't shy about promising a lot!

AprilLady · 22/12/2020 10:54

@CupboardMonster, quite. I’ve been trying to figure out exactly how one measures wrinkle depth in the neck. Don’t think a normal ruler would work somehow.

I was thinking of getting lumene next year but that's a lot of moisturisers!

Maybe I will just try a product of theirs when my current stash runs out, which will take a while anyway.

beautyboxaddict · 22/12/2020 15:39

Oooh hello all. I’m so sad that Advent is almost over

GaryTheDemon · 22/12/2020 17:33

Sheet mask today, ho hum. I find them slimy in general but I’ll give it a go.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/12/2020 17:40

Ritual of holi mouldable shower foam. Mouldable? So I can make stupid shapes ? Like a replacement boob where mine used to be?Grin

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/12/2020 17:41

Anyway back to serious matters. Did anyone get Selfridges? Haven't seen a thread for it and I'm going to start it on Boxing Day.

XmasLockdown · 22/12/2020 17:58

I am getting Origins again next year. I really need to keep an eye on that. It was sold out pretty quickly. I think I will get H&B again because it's cheap and cheerful.
I might get some high end if they reduced them later on.

bigdecisionstomake · 22/12/2020 18:33

@Babysharkdoodoodood We might need pictures of the mouldable shower foam....! Grin

Do people usually start their second calendars on Boxing Day? I've never had a Jadvent one before and assumed we would start on 1st January - happy to go with whatever everyone else is doing though Smile

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 22/12/2020 22:23

Marking place! I have H&B to finish for Advent, then I've got the Amazon one for January and I've ordered the Grazia one to fill the gaps.

Two luxury face creams today. From F&M the 3LABs WW cream, and from N-a-P the AB rich cream that has been in a number of luxury calendars this year. They are actually both 15ml: very clever AB packaging makes it look like a lot more!

Between the two calendars I now have no fewer than 8 expensive face moisturisers to try (7 of them from F&M). By next year this time, I’ll be able to answer one of life’s important questions: If you had £100 to spend on a face cream, which one should you get?

I've been desperately trying to use up all the face moisturisers I have in preparation for getting some during advent but to date there's only be one (Elemis night cream) in LF, I'm now actually running out of day time moisturiser so I'm hoping there is one in LF tomorrow otherwise I'll actually have to buy one! (The Xmas day draw wouldn't fit a moisturiser in so tomorrow is the only day left to get one)
ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 23/12/2020 08:35

Face vinegar (actually a toner) from H&B this morning. I possibly now have more toners than one human being could ever use up.

GaryTheDemon · 23/12/2020 08:44

a rather nice mineral based eyeshadow pallet today, v pleased! I have managed to do a whole calendar with no face cream! Seems strange!

OchonAgusOchonO · 23/12/2020 08:58

@AprilLady - Between the two calendars I now have no fewer than 8 expensive face moisturisers to try (7 of them from F&M).

That's one fewer in F&M than lumene. Funny though, yours didn't seem as repetitive (at least from here). I think it's because 7 of the 8 Lumene ones were in pretty much identical tubs which only varied in colour.

OchonAgusOchonO · 23/12/2020 08:59

@GaryTheDemon - that sounds nice. I like mineral make-up. Any chance of a photo?

CupboardMonster · 23/12/2020 08:59

I do wonder if I should do half face each of expensive face creams to see which has an effect. Today's from F&M is the most expensive yet.

A very delicious snack from Degustabox, Whitworths chocolate and caramel peanuts.

A Laura Mercier blush in John Lewis today. I've only ever used her mineral powder before so looking forward to trying this.

I love trying new face creams (second only to serums) so would have been very happy with the F&M calendar - it's definitely on my shortlist for next year.

Overall I think I've been happy with John Lewis, it's not completely wowed me but it feels like I've had enough products I like and will use to justify the price so far. Hoping for a big finale from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day though!

OchonAgusOchonO · 23/12/2020 09:03

From CEW (although I think this is one of the 4 top up days from tkd beauty bay GWP) a caudalíe toner. I love this brand so very happy with it.

Lumene is a teeny primer. And tea is Chun Mee, which I love. For anyone who thinks green tea is bitter, you need to make it with water at 70C, rather than boiling. It's amazing the difference in taste.

Fenwicks has given me a full size Hyaluronic Acid Serum from The Organic Pharmacy which is apparently a gold medal winner from the 2019 Beauty Awards. Not a wow product for me but nice enough. One more day to go!

I just tried your tea tip with some jasmine tea, @OchonAgusOchonO . What a difference!

I am quite looking forward to trying it. Grin

I finished up my Lumene box. More face lotions, not exciting for many I know, but they'll take me through a good chunk of 2021.

OchonAgusOchonO · 23/12/2020 11:30

@CupboardMonster - This link tells you how to figure out when your water is at the correct temperature if you don't have a kettle that does it for you.
