Gosh it's cold! Going to be minus 10 tonight. Luckily a farmer has cleared the two access roads so hopefully we will start to get stuff happening again in town and I may even get food!

Before I forget I wanted to recommend this shop for dungarees. I've had linen ones which are fab and these new denim ones ( there are 2 styles so have a look) look great

@Sickoffamilydrama love the body suit. Before I ever got pregnant and had no boobs I wore body suits all the time. Now I'd be unsure I think to rely on as underwear but that one looks gorgeous.

@toastfiend I hadn't realised you were ill. That sucks especially when DH is away, I used to struggle when mine was away everywhere week. I hope you can get some rest.

I'm feeling better after what I assume was post vaccine slump. I slept all night too as DD didn't need me ( first night for about a month) and got up at 6 to do my yoga. Have done nearly all my jobs now so that's good.

@ellapaella fab outfit. Our dogs would be banished forever if either of them got in the bed. They are so grubby permanently.

Stay warm everyone, snowing again here. I have found some dubious chicken pieces in the freezer so going to make a bottom of the fridge chicken and veg curry for dinner. I'm sure I could in fact manage a week without shopping if I could get veg and salad and milk

Jumper: toast

@dellacucina great!

littleloopylou · 10/02/2021 10:42

@Sooverthemill nice outfit. The jumper looks very cosy.

Well done on your cobbled-together chicken curry! During the first lockdown when I literally couldn't get much food in, I learnt the joy of making dinner from scraps at the bottom of the freezer! It's actually kind of fun, isn't it?

OublietteBravo · 10/02/2021 11:15

I have a day of meetings, so I’m wearing a proper work dress (with thermal base layers underneath - obviously).

Dress: The Fold
Boots: Dune

No post from me yesterday-... I did get dressed but before I took a photo my toddler had a meltdown mid nappy change and I got pee all over me Shock Poor thing, he was more upset than I was! Ended up in joggers as I just wasn't into making the effort again!

Not exactly stylish today but I am comfy and, most importantly, warm! Dungarees - Lucy and Yak, thermal long sleeve (and leggings!) - M&S, shirt - Uniqlo.

Love that tee shirt @EllaPaella. Thanks @Sickoffamilydrama, I love Anthro, although they can be hit and miss price-wise, so I always check out the sales. And @OublietteBravo, that cord dress looks fab. I don't like cord normally so if you had described it I would likely not have liked it, but on it looks great. Just shows you! Might post a pic of todays ensemble later. More snow here - central Scotland is really getting it at the moment. My dog was having so much fun in the garden this morning he wouldn't come inside! (This is the Spanish rescue dog who hated the stuff until this year....)

Littlemiss74 · 10/02/2021 12:33

Hello - I’ve not posted on this thread before but have been having a look through at the pics posted as I desperately need a clothes overhaul & have lost touch with any kind of style over the past year. Could I ask, how do you know how to put outfits together like you do? You all look so nice & I just don’t know how to do it. I have a wardrobe full of tat in mostly black & grey which at the age of 45 is doing me no favours at all! I hate seeing myself on work zoom calls as I look so tired & washed out.

I would love to look put together like you all do but I just don’t know what to buy or where to start. I feel like binning everything I have and starting again! Some of the shops you mention I’ve never even heard of, I only ever think of the usual high street chains which I’m not overly inspired by. Thanks for any tips!

CaveMum · 10/02/2021 13:57

Love the outfit @dellacucina, that blue top is a beautiful colour.

@Littlemiss74 welcome aboard! Personally for me I gravitate towards dresses as they are an outfit in one - don’t have to worry about tops matching with bottoms, etc! Do you have a particular style that your gravitate towards? Personally I’m not good at “dressing down”, I don’t own any joggers and have one pair of yoga pants that I wore for my hypnobirthing classes when pregnant (youngest is rising 4!), so a lot of my stuff is quite tailored. I find I’m most inspired by “classic” looks - think 40s/50s and probably take inspiration from people like the Duchess of Cambridge (controversial, I know a lot of people find her style “dull”).

Anyway, for me today I am wearing exactly the same outfit as yesterday (dress and cardigan from FatFace) but in different colours Grin

Highlight of my day was discovering that my ski pants from 2006 still fit 😂 Winning! Probably the only item of clothing I still have from back then.
Lovely snow day here - had many hours sledging with the kids and taking the dog for a long walk. Back in comfy joggers now and that's me in for the night.
Loving all the L&Y dungarees ❤️

Purplecatshopaholic · 10/02/2021 15:48

Got my arse in gear and took the dog out - thick snow everywhere. Wearing a very old and faithful coat from Karen Millen with Lululemon leggings. Snow boots were from the middle isle in Aldi’s I think, and totally bargainous!

EllaPaella · 10/02/2021 15:49

Oh I meant to say @Sickoffamilydrama I absolutely love that body - i really want one! So feminine. Can I ask is it comfortable? I haven't worn a body suit since I was a teenager and I remember them constantly 'pulling' in the crotch area (sorry TMI)
If you have a link that would be fab.

EllaPaella · 10/02/2021 15:50

Lots of us have snow today.

Sickoffamilydrama · 10/02/2021 20:07

@EllaPaella here you go it is very comfortable and doesn't cut me in half the poppers aren't as comfortable as some but not awful. I do always wear knickers & have become very fussy about the size of their gusset i'm sure I don't have an abnormal sized under carriage some underwear does seem to lack in that department.

Another great warm jumper @Sooverthemill

Nice colour top @dellacucina. I'll check the Anthropologie sale thanks @Purplecatshopaholic & looking good.

Nice dresses @OublietteBravo & @CaveMum

@Littlemiss74 I second dresses as being easy, I also copy others. I have certain styles I know suit me then do a variation on a theme. I will also experiment with outfits, when I have the time. I've also always experimented with clothes and colour my DSis and I used to spent hours trying outfits on for a night out.

I have found this thread and taking photos of my outfits help me work out what looks good. Also what makes you feel good only wear those things obviously you have to be practical and I can't float around in gorgeous ball dresses in the muddy park but wear the outfit that makes me feel good.

I actually actively avoid fashion mags just make me feel rubbish but do follow some on Instagram and look at some blogs.

I have lots of work to do and (thankfully) no meetings in my diary. It’s very cold here. So layers it is.

Welcome @Littlemiss74. I never used to have any idea post kids, it was just a case of having a home 'uniform' and a work 'uniform' that was practical for young kids and too many animals plus my commute to London. But I've always loved clothes and unlike @Sickoffamilydrama I read tons of magazines ( always have) and I love the crazy inspiration. I also look at blogs, Instagram etc just for ideas. But as you can tell I'm still just a jeans and top kind of person but I've upped y game in both departments over the years, and what I wear is important to me and is an indicator of how well my MH is doing. I try not to do joggers and leggings every day as it reminds me of a bad period in my my life when that's all I had the energy for. Dresses in winter are too impractical for me but in the summer, the right one works it's magic. I don't really go out because I look after a very sick daughter so I neither dress for the people in this thread plus my DD who appreciates my wardrobe and the postman. DH would prefer me naked tbh.

@OublietteBravo isn't it bloody freezing? We have fresh snow on ice and it's a bit lethal.

@sickof I love your jumper
@toastfiend how are you feeling?
@MerlinsButler nice to see you back

@OublietteBravo you wear Whistles well, the cut and fabric of their clothes looks fab on you!

My Lucy & Yak jeans arrived and have decided to stay. I had to try on a few tops before they didn't make me look like a Telly Tubby but here they are with a Breton top (surprise!!) from Kin.

All very Cold here so nothing exciting today. Joggers - mint velvet. T shirt - All Saints. Cardigan and Trainers - hush.

Loving these trainers as they make me smile so have been wearing them under my desk while on zoom calls.

Everybody looking nice and cosy too. Love that jumpsuit on you @OublietteBravo. It always looks nice.

Love your outfit @Sickoffamilydrama. That colour jumper looks great and love the leopard print belt.

Thanks @Sooverthemill for the link to that website (I think). Have been looking for some denim dungarees as don't think I can pull off the L&Y ones like @toastfiend et al.

The dogs have eaten two pairs of my slippers so decided to invest in some sheepskin slipper boots.

Am trying to buy from UK/ethical manufacturers only and these are made out from off cuts of Rolls Royce car mats. I just can't get my head around what the inside of a Rolls looks like???!!!! 😂

MrsBobDylan · 11/02/2021 09:28

@MerlinsButler those trainers are lush - the sparkle, the stars!

littleloopylou · 11/02/2021 09:47

@Sickoffamilydrama I really like that yellow jumper and the sheer top underneath is an interesting contrast

@MrsBobDylan love the outfit - nice Breton stripes

@MerlinsButler nice trainers! I also like the idea of wearing something that just makes you happy.

I have the same thing going on with my tights. It's unlikely anyone will see them (and I think they may be a bit too matchy matchy in fact), but I'm enjoying knowing I have the pop of colour there

Another Lucy and Yak purchase - pinafore

Boden jumper

Snag tights (fell for the FB adverts)

I am wearing woolly over the knee socks
Early 90s hip hop style jeans
A tiger striped fluffy jumper
Dior glasses
I’ve straightened my hair

coffeeandcardigans · 11/02/2021 13:36

Those jeans look great @MrsBobDylan and I love the pinafore and tights combo @littleloopylou

Welcome to the thread @Littlemiss74 Honestly this place is great for inspiration on how to put outfits together. If you feel like your stuck in a rut I would start by setting aside a day to pull out all your clothes and try them on and work on putting together outfits as well as getting rid of anything that doesn't work for you anymore. You might find there are things you have forgotten about in the back of the wardrobe!

Today's outfit:
Jumper: Warehouse
Skirt: Oasis
Thermal leggings (and top): M&S

Another name change fail.

I've been phoning it in fashion wise for the past year, @Littlemiss74 (gosh, this metaphor seems so apt now), but when I feel inspired to look more put together, I tend to search for street style / work wear blogs. It's helpful just to see what the latest silhouettes/trends are. Then I apply these lessons to my own wardrobe.

Example: oh, people are tucking the front of shirts/jumpers in? Do I want to do this? If I do, are any of my tops the right length? How does it look with these jeans? Etc

Sometimes I discover that I need some extra pieces to make a look that I like work, so I seek these out

If everything you have is grey or black, that seems positive in that you can probably go for monochrome looks with a pop of colour. All you need to do is buy a few accessories to achieve this, like cardigans/scarves/jewelry
