It's my birthday today 🥳 on my DH birthday they announced the last national lockdown so we are obviously special!!!

DH did well and got me some jewellery from Etsy I asked for.

Wearing straight out of the bag new sale jeans from hush. Checked them with 8 different tops / jumpers and happy I will get lots of wear from them. Also very comfy. Would recommend, they are the Arlette Barrel jeans. Surprisingly DH looked up from his laptop and said 'you look nice' which is pretty much unheard of!

I know the news is sh*t and everyone will be feeling low but try to do a nice thing today, I've done my yoga and I've got my new book. My NY resolution is to read for at least an hour a day. Take care everyone

Feeling quite stressed at the moment. DD is supposed to be at school for BTEC exams today/tomorrow. I think they’re still going ahead. The announcement and its aftermath are not at all detrimental to exam prep

@OublietteBravo what a nightmare- these poor bloody kids. My eldest is meant to be sitting exams this year as well. Fortunately he is a lot more laid back about it than i am 😩

Well I am now off work as our school shut without any provision for key worker children until next week. So 26 patients I was due to see in clinic this week will now all be told yet again that they have had their appointments cancelled at very short notice with no hope of being seen in the next 3 months minimum. Total shambles.

I am taking the opportunity in between work calls to get the cleaning done as the Dc haven't been given any work to do by their school yet.
Hope everyone is okay after yesterday's announcement. On a more cheery note I get my first vaccine tomorrow 👌

Love those jeans on you @Sooverthemill! What’s the sizing like? Website says they run large. Are they high waisted?

Feel so sorry for all the kids doing exams this year. It’s such a mess. My DS is in reception & he was just starting to get the hang of it when everything closed down for several periods of isolation, Christmas & now this.

@happytobemrsg the website says relaxed fit/ true to size. I've just measured and the rise is 11 inches. Do the reviews say they run large? I can't ever see or post reviews on hush no idea why. I think they are roomier than my Lennie but similar to other hush straight. I reckon they are slouchy so you could pull them up or down depending on the look you want. Does that help at all?! I do really like them and very pleased I took a shot at them. If you haven't bought before message me for a referral code!

Feeling the stress here as well. Thankfully DS’s nursery are staying open which is a huge relief as Lockdown 1 + 3yo + home schooling 6yo + working from home nearly finished me off!

Sorry for everyone feeling stressed today. It's very crap. I'm grateful that nursery is still open, really feel for parents and children/young people who are worrying about exams/wfh whilst responsible for home schooling etc. It's so difficult.

I started the day in riding gear as went for a hack as my exercise for the day. It was good to get back to it. I stopped over Christmas and missed it. Now I'm in my new culottes as had a meeting earlier. I'm not totally sure about them. They're a slightly odd shape and DH doesn't like them (unusual as normally he doesn't express many opinions about my clothes). They're fine, though, and for £15 I'm keeping them as I don't hate them and trying to return to Topshop at the moment is something I just can't be bothered with.

Hello all,

Happy new year! Took a bit of a hiatus from the thread over Christmas. We moved into our new house last week so its been pretty hectic but back to WFH as of yesterday and for the foreseeable future.

I'm also on the no-buy train. I've ordered a load of thermal leggings and tops for WFH as our house is pretty cold but otherwise I'm taking January and February off shopping, at least. I have plenty and it doesn't look like I'll be leaving the house much anyway! Will use this thread to keep myself in check and get properly dressed every day.

Been following the news in UK and really feel for those of you under such tough restrictions. Things are pretty bad and rapidly escalating in Ireland too but so far DS can keep going to childminder so just hope that continues and we can have some kind of normal.

Back to the clothes - excuse the photos - mirror is currently propped up on a box so at a funny angle, its also a cheap mirror I got years ago and has the unexpected benefit of making look far slimmer than I really am, not complaining!

Hi Ladies

Just popping on, still reading and looking at all of your lovely outfits. Am not really wearing anything different at the moment. I am on a conscious no spend as I have reached a point where I don't really need anything, I read a good book before Christmas, 'the year of nothing', or something and quite a bit of it hit home. I am also trying to eat better than I have been, far too many snacks!

What a nightmare @Ellapaella, you would think that they have to provide something. Good news on your vaccine though.

I have a child doing exams this year @OublietteBravo and I am gutted as they have worked so hard and their predictions are just amazing, I feel sad they won't have the opportunity to prove themselves, also from now until June is a long time without any motivation.

That is a lovely dress @Ellapaella, I had a bit of a Jolie Moi shopping spree back in their summer sale! I think I bought 4 dresses and two lightweight jackets

@Ruthietuthie ah, thank you! They are the Aimilitas in cherry red grizzly. They're in the sale atm, reduced to £105. I was inspired by this thread, actually, as @OublietteBravo and @Ellapaella also have them, although I think in different colours? They're wonderfully comfortable, I really recommend them.

OMG to many posts to name everyone thanks for the birthday wishes.

Had two sale items arrive I love the colour of the skirt but it already has pulls in it & exaggerates my mum tum so it's going back.

The trousers are staying although slightly worried I now have a "uniform" of high waisted belted trousers! But they suit me.

Just bought this coat - very pleased with it!
Although I know it won’t be to everyone’s taste
I find heavy well made quality fake fur really warm in winter - suits me better than padded coats

I like it @JaceLancs but being dark haired I can look a bit like a mafioso wife if I wear certain fake fur.

Having a weird thing with pictures posting tonight this the the necklace DD got me.

@happytobemrsg hope you are feeling a bit better today. These are difficult times to navigate. Here if you need us .I spent yesterday talking DD1 down as she was totally floored by exercise only being once a day. She has no garden and relied on a big walk first thing then popping out at lunchtime and after work for a quick bit of fresh air. She works very very hard supporting new teachers in schools and I do feel for her. If I won the lottery I'd buy her a house with a garden.

Incidentally DD1 was bought Lucy and Yak dungarees for Christmas by her fiancé. I'm astonished as it's totally outside what she normally wears but she loves them.

@Sickoffamilydrama the high waisted belted trousers really suit you so don't worry ! I love the necklace your son chose, how thoughtful.@
@JaceLancs I lovePoetry stuff but am keeping away as I've overspent ( I allow myself my carers allowance as my 'pocket money' I am incredibly lucky to be able to do this but I think of it as my cheering myself up money).

I know today will be tough as DD is really unwell at the moment and had a terrible night. I'm hoping she goes back to sleep now and I can chill for a bit
