Well here we go.
I couldn't see another thread, so thought I would start one.
Will try & post pictures if I remember.
If I forget perhaps someone else could post.
Day no1 coming up

I will miss the daily chats here, such wonderful distraction from the news.

thecognoscenti · 21/12/2020 07:15

I have aura, it's the one shade I didn't want but there we go. I don't think it will work on pale pinky skin, I fear I'll look like a pig with conjunctivitis 😂

I have really enjoyed being part of this little community. I've been opening the box first thing each morning so I can then log on without spoilers!

RoxyL · 21/12/2020 07:31

I got smoke yesterday and it’s lovely! Rarely wear eyeshadow but if gives a lovely sparkle and stayed all day. ✨

RoxyL · 21/12/2020 07:32

Single eye mask today. I love a face mask. Never tried this brand. Anyone have experience of them? It says “self heating”. 🤔

Chickydoo · 21/12/2020 07:41

Well this is interesting. A self heating eye mask for tired eyes.
I actually need a million of these.
I want another one & haven't even tried this.
Anything that says it will transport me to another dimension gets my vote.
Maybe we can all meet in the above mentioned dimension & have a proper Christmas there!!

I would love to hear reviews from others. I used it before but I will reserve comments until few reviews come ine!

WE all need another dimension in the current climate.

mynameiscalypso · 21/12/2020 08:49

I've had this before - maybe in a Birchbox? Not something I would buy myself - I don't remember anything other than the packaging which isn't necessarily the best sign but I also didn't have a toddler and 16 months of sleep deprivation at that point so maybe it will make a difference this time!

Orcadianrythyms · 21/12/2020 09:31

Hmm, I got this in my first birchbox!! Which thanks to the other thread I bought a subscription for at half price. So one of five products in a £6:50 beauty box. I haven't tried it yet but confirms my view of not getting this AC again.

MiaN · 21/12/2020 09:59

the qms lip product was also in beauty boxes - boxycharm.

Pomegranatespompom · 21/12/2020 10:10

I’d like to swap my eyeshadow too - I’ve aura.

Onekidnoclue · 21/12/2020 10:19

Oh I feel so differently @Orcadianrythyms !
I think it’s better when the “cheap treats” are properly cheap and it’s a one off trial. I’d rather have a load of budget things to try which I would never buy myself and a few big hitters to stick around and I can see if they work.

Pomegranatespompom · 21/12/2020 10:41

I agree this has been a lovely thread - thank you.

MiaN · 21/12/2020 10:45

I love it but I am seasoned advent calendar buyer and I know it is not possible to like everything or to aim to feel that you get 800gbp of value for something you paid 200 for.

I have had disappointing advent calendars before and LIberty is not one of them, I enjoyed a lot more than I didn't

Chickydoo · 21/12/2020 10:58

@MiaN I'm with you, I have loved the calendar, it's been lovely trying new things. I have the eye shadow on today (I never wear eye shadow) it looks lovely, a soft sparkle. I have the Aura. I might even invest in a couple of the other shades.
I am already thinking about next year's Calendar (excited) Grin

Pomegranatespompom · 21/12/2020 12:30

@Chickydoo I am thinking of next year too. I think I’ll scrutinise a bit more, I’m veering towards Fortnums for a change. I’m overall happy with Liberty but ready for a change after 5 years.

Orcadianrythyms · 21/12/2020 12:50

I think F&M maybe or Fenwicks (which I was tempted by as it had GWP too). My problem is I wanted the surprise element so definitely didn't scrutinise carefully enough.

I've tried the mask now (had an online funeral to attend this morning so my eyes needed all the help they can get). It just seemed like a hand warmer pack for the eyes? Was there supposed to be a cream, should I have put on eye cream? I think I missed something.

supadupapupascupa · 21/12/2020 13:57

I had Fenwick and wasn't so in love with it. I have loved this one however.
Last year I had Debenhams. Far more sample sizes.
I will definitely be buying this one again

MiaN · 21/12/2020 14:11

I don't regret buying Liberty, I looked at F&M, Harrods and Fenwick and Liberty appealed more. The eye cream, eye shadow and one product I am not going to say as we have not got it yet were 128gbp and I would have gladly purchased them myself. So for 87gbp I got to try shamoo, shower gels, face creams, perfume, face mask and many other items to try

I looked at F&M and decided against it as there were no full size products I am interested in buying in it and every skincare item I looked at had citrus oils and fragrance and I try to avoid them. I know many prefer surprises but I personally need few full size products that I want to splurge over 100.

mrsduff · 21/12/2020 15:20

The aura eyeshadow was a huge hit for me - I almost bought a Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow in v similar colour but didn't so I was really chuffed with this and will experiment with it tomorrow.

Hmm the space mask thing looks like a glam version of really cheap Japanese self heating eye masks you can get here in Singapore. Nice novelty factor though.

Any one else feeling a tinge of sadness now we're into the 20s as soon the excitement of opening the little drawers every day and this lovely thread will soon be over? It's bitter sweet for me Xmas Smile

ajandjjmum · 21/12/2020 15:46

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be great for 'someone' to do a Jadvent calendar, but full of things that you could use on the day. I struggle to justify another lovely calendar full of interesting products to try (although I do have one!), but one where there would be single use items so that I don't have to find more space for pots of cream etc., but would still give a boost first thing in the morning of a very grey month.

Today's eye mask would be ideal for one of the drawers! Grin

MabelMoo23 · 21/12/2020 16:06

I had Liberty last year and loved it, and this years was a gift to me from my Mum

I was a bit underwhelmed to begin with, but actually it’s really picked up so I’m pleased now

My fave of the calendar so far has to be Dear Polly and the Hourglass from yesterday as well as a few I’ve really enjoyed

imp2007 · 21/12/2020 19:16

I feel a bit sad we are coming to the end of the calendar too have really enjoyed it and the thread. Glammed it up on my Xmas food shop today with a full lid application of the hourglass eye shadow didn't budge despite having to queue outside m and s in the rain for quite some time - the joys of Xmas lol!!!!

YouWereRight · 21/12/2020 19:50

It doesn’t matter how much I like space masks, their relentless gifting to influencers a year or two ago has put me right off the brand. I’ll probably give this to my sister.

I like self heating masks though, I have a Korean friend who tries to give me loads every time I see her.

chloechloe · 21/12/2020 20:17

Yes the chat on this thread has been lovely. Maybe we can carry on as we keep using our products - there are plenty of bits that I haven’t tried yet!

I’m determined to have a few pamper sessions over the Xmas break - I have had one child after the next either quarantined or ill since November so have been spending every evening catching up on work and I’m still drowning in it. Nevermind!

Regarding choosing which AC. It’s a bit of a tough one - on the one hand it’s hard to spend £200 on something without knowing what you’re getting, but then again it would be nice to have a surprise. I have too much OCD to buy one without looking so I tend to mull over the top end calendars for way too long before deciding what to go for. Maybe I’ll just plump for one next year without looking at the contents. But then again I’m such a beauty junkie that many have had items in that I already have and don’t need to duplicate - Cult Beauty had quite a few makeup bits this year that I already have.

imp2007 · 21/12/2020 21:17

I was pretty sure that I would go for something different next year but actually think now I'd be pretty happy with Liberty again next year - looking forward to using the space mask later I've always fancied trying one x
