Nail & cuticle cream this morning.
I never do anything to my nails, I never have a manicure, or even file them, they are simply awful!
Perhaps I should use this cream, I probably won't though.

Eek! I squeezed the tube gently (or at least I thought I was being gentle) and half the tube exploded out. It's gone everywhere! Oops.

Nc135 · 14/12/2020 07:32

I think the problem with the Liberty style calendar is the box sizes. Every box is the same size and so it is quite limiting what and what size they can fit in. I got my daughter the ASOS calendar this year. She is 12 and it is amazing for her. Every item has its own box and so every box is a completely different shape and size. This means that they can fit anything they like in - and at full size too. It is less about make up and more about face masks and washes etc. She had a full size Elemis moisturiser yesterday. I am so impressed because the calendar was £70 and the content have easily reached that already. Easily. The calendar with the set box sizes moving forwards are always going to be limited.

Polpette · 14/12/2020 07:40

You're right @Nc135

It looks like the Venn this year was touch and go whether it would fit, it was bulging out of the side.

MiaN · 14/12/2020 07:42

I also think that Cult beauty are more clever by giving their hit products in the first 5 days. If you get full size eye cream, full size expensive face oil, full size expensive acid serum and awesome blush that suit a lot of skin colors first 5 days people are wowed and don't mind getting smaller /not as exciting items.

Not one of the things I bought Liberty advent for have come up yet!

Nc135 · 14/12/2020 07:46

@MiaN agree. I would at least have made day 1 a wowow item. They are risking it back ending it especially as they know us lot are on here cementing an early opinion!!! But I do think these box sizes are a big issue. Check out the ASOS one and how they do it. They tesselate loads of different shapes and sizes together. Even the different shapes and sizes are exciting!

KatharinaRosalie · 14/12/2020 07:46

I had Net a Porter last year which was really good.

I put the nail cream on my home office desk, it's a product that I really should use, as my cuticles are super dry.

imp2007 · 14/12/2020 07:58

Polpette I did exactly the same - a gentle squeeze and loads shot out!!! My hands and nails are super dry so I've rubbed it all in - hopefully will help - I'm going to pop on my bedside table and use every night at bedtime.

MiaN · 14/12/2020 07:58

agree about the sizes. It feels lovely to get full size shower gel in Space NK for example, something that is simply not option if the boxes are liberty size.

supadupapupascupa · 14/12/2020 08:12

I like the change of focus in today's. Nails for a change. I have way too much makeup so that doesn't impress me (the lip pencil is awful on me!).
I had the Fenwick a calendar for November and I now fear I have too much face stuff Smile

AesopsMables · 14/12/2020 08:16

The boxes are quite small for full size. I regifted my last years Liberty to DD with a mixture of last years unwanted and new purchases, it was pretty easy to put full size
Nail varnish
Lipstick
Moisturiser
Eyelash curler, etc But shower and hair products wouldn't fit.

Problem with CB box is although it is shaped for larger/different sizes. It has 2020 in huge type on the front so cannot re-gift for future! Such a waste really.

Interested to try cuticle cream, I don't remember it in last years?

GinandGingerBeer · 14/12/2020 08:35

There has been a Margaret dabs cuticle cream before, can't remember which year, but it's good. Really good. Sorted out my nails after many years of acrylics (along with nailtiques 2 which you can no longer get in the UK 😫)
This is my fifth Liberty calendar and unless things change drastically it's going to be my last. Not working for me this year.
The lip filler has annoyed me for a product with such meh ingredients. They will have had loads to offload as really if you can afford that, you'd probably be having a tweakment
Also the Bader moisturiser smells and feels exactly the same as LRP cicaplast Baume to me?

MabelMoo23 · 14/12/2020 08:36

I had Liberty last year as my first year and this wasn’t in it

Onekidnoclue · 14/12/2020 08:44

I’ve had a nail cream explosion too! Glad I’m not the only one. So much came out I could do my toes too - pretty impressed with myself for managing that one as I’m 8 months pregnant and haven’t touched them for a while now!

MiaN · 14/12/2020 08:57

I took all the boxes out form cult beauty and use them as dividers in my ikea alex unit! They are great! The taller for oils/serums, the shorter for lip, eye, braw products and the biggest for body creams. The boxes look solid enough to last me awhile until I get proper dividers

Stokey · 14/12/2020 14:46

It's a good point about sizing @Nc135. I never really do anything to my nails so may be useful.

How does Liberty compare with Fenwick's @supadupapupascupa? That was the one I wanted this year but it sold out quite quickly.

supadupapupascupa · 14/12/2020 15:13

Honestly I felt that the Fenwick one mostly contained samples. However one that I dismissed (Sisley) turns out to be worth £55 so maybe it was better value. Really lovely lip balm. Makeup was no good for me.
It was good value because it came with GWP

HerculesMuligan · 14/12/2020 20:05

This morning I thought today’s nail and cuticle cream looked really boring. But having tried it on my fingernails I think I’m converted! My nails have felt really soft all day, and I’m looking forward to trying it out on my toenails later (which frankly need all the TLC they can get!).

Costacoffeeplease · 14/12/2020 21:26

I’m already using a tube of this, so I’m happy to have a new one

thecognoscenti · 15/12/2020 06:44

Today's looks good! I'm looking forward to trying it.

KatharinaRosalie · 15/12/2020 06:47

Todays is good - got the same one last year and am just finishing it. While I'm not sure it does that much otherwise, it's one of those products that has an immediate lifting and tightening effect, so great to use when you look a little puffy or saggy.

mynameiscalypso · 15/12/2020 06:57

I've definitely had this before - is it in every year? I quite liked it one year and felt it didn't do much the other year but interested to try it again with my slightly more aged skin!

MiaN · 15/12/2020 07:01

I am not fussed about this one, I had one from Elle advent last year. but I don't use HA serums anymore at all. Not sure if I will gift it or use it yet but I have plenty of takers

Chickydoo · 15/12/2020 07:10

I am happy this morning. I love this! Dr Sebagh Serum repair. I ran out of mine a couple of weeks ago, so very pleased to find this behind the no 15 door this morning.

Yes this is in every year.
From posts on here I’m prompted to look at my skin care regime. I use this before bed - not convinced it does much. I can’t use in the morning as I find it makes make up flaky.

I did buy a random cheap vitamin c serum in Superdrug - really like it- brightens and smoothes. Was £5!
