@Nanasueathome

I didn’t have a Liberty calendar this year but would like to try the QMS lip lines serum I kept the empty box from previous year and filled it with GWP products that I’d bought throughout the year (plus a few miniature bottles of gin)
Have a look on ebay, so many of the lip lines serum are on sale for about 30. Buy and sale groups on facebooks such as carroline herons fan groups also have them on sale. There is buy it now for 25gbp option

I had bad reaction from mine and as such I would have not given it to anyone, just in case there is an issue with the specific bottle

MiaN · 13/12/2020 09:26

Cult beauty hit the first week with all of their star products vs Liberty is exactly the opposite. The products I am most interested in are all the last week.

Cult beauty probably are after crazy strong first impression vs liberty build up. I think so, but that's not judging by value of the products but how much I am interested in them.

Stokey · 13/12/2020 09:39

They do look like hotel samples @Polpette but they smell quite nice. I'll probably stick them in my wash bag and use if we ever get to go on holiday again. Not that impressed by getting two shower gels though, don't think duplication is great.

imp2007 · 13/12/2020 09:43

I'm going to use these later - made me smile as we have literally just had a log burner fitted so the fragrance is apt for me!! Husband had a sniff and loved the smell think these will be used up quickly but agree not the most exciting and small sizes. Skin feeling and looking lovely after using AB cream last night that is a def hit. Have a great day everyone x

Polpette · 13/12/2020 09:48

@MiaN I think I'm just in negative mood this morning. There have been some real hits and there are definitely more to come.

@Stokey I travel a lot for work (or at least I used to!) so I've collected a fair few Noble Isle toiletries along the way. They do smell lovely and they are towards the more luxury end of the market.

Time for me to pull on my positive pants and stop looking at the negatives. It's not every day that I get to wake up to a surprise gift (unless the cat has brought in a mouse).

And let's face it, the box alone is bloody lovely!

MiaN · 13/12/2020 09:51

hope your day picks up! I would like some more makeup or hair products by now, the lippie color sadly didn't work for me and the leave in as well so more please!

MabelMoo23 · 13/12/2020 10:10

I smelt them this morning and whilst they were nice, they weren’t anything special. Very hotel toiletries.

I do know though that there a few decent products coming towards end so feeling hopeful

Orcadianrythyms · 13/12/2020 10:36

Hotel toiletries!!! Day 13 and already 3 days of shower products, a couple of nice things and a load of middle of the road. Were my expectations too high? What's the opinions of those who've had it in the past?

Orcadianrythyms · 13/12/2020 10:37

I'm joining you @Polpette on the negative train.

Pomegranatespompom · 13/12/2020 10:44

I agree with you @Polpette There have been 3 great things so far and a few more to come, so still ok value. Time for a change next year maybe.

I don't mind todays. I was far too irritated by the price of the lip serum that I should be though Blush

friendlyflicka · 13/12/2020 11:53

I buy this calendar because I like bath products and lovely smelling things. I am really pleased with them. I like the lack of make up and the huge variety of body products. Liberty is always like this.

Me too. I don't mind a handful of makeup products but unless they're a colour which works for everyone they're higher risk, I think, than nice shower stuff and whatnot. That said, I am excited about the nice things still to come. I did research the contents before buying (too much to spend for me not to have!) and whilst I'm deliberately trying to forget them now, I do remember some things we've not yet had and which I'm looking forward to.
herewegoagain25 · 13/12/2020 13:24

I think it's pretty reflective of how the liberty calendar is most years and I have had the last four.

The lip serum isn't for me either, but there's been products from this brand before and so isn't unexpected. I'm also glad of less makeup, because there's been eye shadow and strong lip colours in the past that I would never wear! Also things like a mini hourglass mascara won't last me long enough!

The liberty always builds to some bigger hitters later on, and as people have said can often start with a few smaller products. See earlier comments on the toothpaste!

But then I don't add up the value, I just tend to see it as a little treat each day, and a chance to try out brands I wouldn't usually buy. I tend to gift to family the bits that I won't use.

friendlyflicka · 13/12/2020 16:45

I love make up. But at the age of 53 I know exactly what I want and like and either a calendar takes risks and pleases some people and annoys others. Or it has to give black eyeliner and black mascara and a very neutral blusher. So many calendars have had Nars Laguna/orgasm for this reason for years.

chloechloe · 13/12/2020 18:15

That’s very true flicka! I actually really like Nars Orgasm blusher but agree it’s not terribly exiting, nor is a black eyeliner. I was hugely disappointed when they put a clear Bobbi Brown lipgloss in Liberty calendar one year. I’ve still not opened it!

friendlyflicka · 13/12/2020 18:21

My daughter would have had that.

chloechloe · 13/12/2020 22:31

@friendlyflicka

My daughter would have had that.
Mine are 5 and 4 so too young, but it’s nice to read all the mums on here giving stuff to their daughters!

I did find a use for the Elasticizer though - my 5yo has the most amazing curls but as she’s the only one in the family with them I don’t know what I’m doing! I put some of the Elasticizer on the ends tonight after washing together with some L’Oreal hair oil and the curls look amazing! Just wondering how they’ll look after she’s slept on them.

friendlyflicka · 13/12/2020 23:10

I am very curly and love the Aveda treatment right on the 2nd day

happilybemused · 14/12/2020 06:34

I really like the aromatherapy associates shower oil and have bought a full size.

Not on the card but after applying you are supporting to cup your hands and inhale 3 times before stepping into the shower. A real treat.

MiaN · 14/12/2020 06:47

never had anything like today's product but happy to try it!

Pomegranatespompom · 14/12/2020 06:48

I think this was in last years calendar as well.

MiaN · 14/12/2020 06:49

was it any good? It's my first time ever getting Liberty advent

Pomegranatespompom · 14/12/2020 07:00

I didn’t think it did much tbh - sorry to be negative.
I think I’m ready for a change - I’ve had Liberty for a few years, a lot of the products are the same each year, tbf there are 3 products I like which sways me to buy it, but I think they are getting a bit lazy. After yesterday’s shower gel, they needed a wow product.
Some of the other adverts are streets ahead. So far I’d saw the contents are on par with the October GWP.

MiaN · 14/12/2020 07:04

don't worry a about being negative, it's interesting to hear different reviews and opinions

Pomegranatespompom · 14/12/2020 07:07

I think I’m going for rituals and Fortnums next year.
I’m just on my way to work - it’s eerily quiet.
