@mynameiscalypso haha. As a parent I would be secretly happy if my daughter got toothpaste but furious if it were me Grin

@friendlyflicka yeeees! I work in marketing so know that companies cannot advertise a value if not true. So go with the flow folks. Roll on day 8

VWGolfmk2 · 07/12/2020 20:28

I love the perfume today. Considering asking DP for a full bottle for Christmas. The bottle is pretty too. Apart from the lip liner thingy I've been pleased with everything so far (only because I never wear lipstick so no need for lipliner).

Pomegranatespompom · 07/12/2020 20:55

@mynameiscalypso I remember the toothpaste, think I still have it somewhere ! Interested to try this perfume tomorrow - far more in line with what I was hoping for.

Housewife2010 · 07/12/2020 21:38

I would never buy a £200 advent calendar without knowing that I will use nearly everything and for there to be some items that I'm really looking forward to. I check all the advent calendars in October then after I've chosen a luxury one for my birthday I try to forget the contents. I'd hate to be disappointed some mornings and £200 is a lot of money.

Chickydoo · 07/12/2020 21:39

I love a surprise, have absolutely no idea what's coming tomorrow. It is just a little bit of joy on a dark morning.
I guess I compare it to an ultra pricey box of crackers (or two boxes) it almost doesn't matter what's inside, it's the fun of opening.
I have had the perfume on all day, re-applied at lunchtime. I am really beginning to love it.
I just hope toothpaste isn't on the cards this year Grin. Still have the dentist in the morning (first time in a year) so maybe a decent toothpaste would be a good thing!

I remember the toothpaste too! Malin&Goetz?

I like to get value for money with my advent calendars so do check out the top of the range ones before deciding which to get. I’m usually so baboozled by the end of what is a long process that, come December, I’ve forgotten what is in the one I’ve plumped for. Having said that, Liberty is quite samey year on year with the same brands coming up again and again. It would be nice if what I assume are the two star products each year were switched up a bit.

I understand those of you who are saying you like a complete surprise, however I am too much of a control freak!

Pomegranatespompom · 07/12/2020 21:56

@chloechloe I buy it for the star products and it does work out good value for me in the end but I might have change next year.

I do think my memory has worsened in last 2 years, worryingly so, I think I'm peri menopausal

Onekidnoclue · 07/12/2020 22:01

Bit late to the party but I’d like to join the thread.
Thank you to whoever suggested trying the lip liner as it looks different on. It actually bloody lovely and I nearly put it in the bin! My big love has been the Venn but I’m enjoying the perfume too. Couldn’t get on with the AA oil, made me think of pine loo cleaner Hmm

Nc135 · 07/12/2020 22:20

@VWGolfmk2 and @Onekidnoclue the nars lip thing isn’t a lip liner - it’s a lip pencil - designed to go all over the lip. Please somebody correct me if I am wrong as that is how I have been using it Grin

Pomegranatespompom · 07/12/2020 22:24

I think I'll reserve the Nars a swap (not tired it but don't want to use once and then be unable to swap !). I like the clarins lip oils/balms to Clinique black honey - such an old favourite.

Nc135 · 07/12/2020 22:30

@Pomegranatespompom vamp it up in red. You can always tone down with a bit of lip balm.

Pomegranatespompom · 07/12/2020 22:34

I did wear red lipstick when younger Smile Mac ruby woo and a Clinique one they discontinued - was devastated about that.

Housewife2010 · 07/12/2020 22:48

The licorice toothpaste a few years back was Marvis. I loved it and rebought it.

MiaN · 08/12/2020 05:28

If I spend over 100 on advent I prefer knowing what's in it ahead. In this case it did have 3 full size items that are worth 128 and made it worth it for me. I don't know what days they are coming but looking forward getting them. It will be hard to part with 200 gbp without knowing what's in it completely.

But also looking at the competition - it's ok if people aren't completely satisfied with it as there were a lot on the market this year and some are better than others. It's also so personal, it's hard to imagine that any advent will please every single day even if over all you are happy with it.

Yes, this exactly. £200 is a fair bit of money and I looked over the contents of this and the other similar calendars before deciding which to buy. There are definitely some items I prefer to others but overall I'm very pleased.

Today's is very nice! Not especially exciting, but will definitely get used.

MiaN · 08/12/2020 06:56

lovely scent today!

MiaN · 08/12/2020 06:57

I meant the body wash smells lovely not that it's perfume. It will be used and enjoyed here too

Chickydoo · 08/12/2020 07:24

Branford body wash today
100ml smells lovely.
Will enjoy using this one.

tee tree smell isn't it?

Tangomango1 · 08/12/2020 07:50

Happy with today's body wash & looking forward to using it later today. It smells lovely 😀

mynameiscalypso · 08/12/2020 08:04

Always useful to have little bottles like this - I do like that a lot of the products so far have more interesting/different scents

MatildaonaWaltzer · 08/12/2020 08:12

If any of you who didn’t like yesterday’s perfume want to sell yours, do drop me a pm!
I wore make up for the first time in months at the weekend, and that dermaloguca pre cleanser was brilliant for shifting it off. Really liked it but the notion of pre cleanser is a bit over complicated for me. Very much like today’s Bamford.

Polpette · 08/12/2020 08:22

@MatildaonaWaltzer I think pre-cleanse is just another way of saying 'make up remover'. I use it to take my make up off then use my usual cleansing balm. My skin feels amazing afterwards.

I was sceptical at first but I'm so impressed by how good the Dermalogica product is that I'll be buying a full size one when this runs out.

Today's Bamford body wash smells really fresh and bright. Looking forward to a shower later.

MatildaonaWaltzer · 08/12/2020 08:31

Polpette - good point; and if it’s called make up remover, it’s something that’s needed whereas “precleanser” makes it sound like a pointless additional step so poor marketing of a great product to me!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/12/2020 08:42

I don't even use cosmetics or smelly things (apart from bath oil and nice soap), but I am thoroughly invested in this.
