Well here we go.
I couldn't see another thread, so thought I would start one.
Will try & post pictures if I remember.
If I forget perhaps someone else could post.
Day no1 coming up

After slating the perfume earlier & having a grumble. It's softening and I can now smell lemon tea Smile. How weird. It's actually quite wearable now.
Not my favourite smell, however I will wear it, it's very unusual for sure!

I am really happy with today's perfume. The scent is subtle and has really grown on me & I love the bottle

Me too, I think it's lovely
mynameiscalypso · 07/12/2020 10:37

The perfume has really grown on me too - I've just done the nursery run and been to the supermarket and I've been sniffing my wrist (when not wearing my mask obviously!) the whole way.

MolotovMocktail · 07/12/2020 10:42

Really happy with the perfume, not sure I would repurchase but it’s a lovely light & fresh scent and the bottle is stunning. I would love to be able to refill it for my handbag but not sure the top comes off.

Luvacuppatea · 07/12/2020 10:44

Day 1 - posted previously to say that I didn’t rate this, but had to backtrack and admit that I do actually really like it. Have lovely soft hair without the ‘flyaways’.
Day 2 - VENN - love it! I’ve used it every morning since getting it. It was leaving my face a tad sticky though, so I’ve reduced usage to 2 pumps worth at a time, and that works just fine (bonus that it will last longer this way as I won’t be spending £££ to replace it, however lovely it is)
Day 3 - toner. Doubt I’ll use this any time soon, but might give it a go one day.
Day 4 - the AA bath oil is nice enough. Very small though and I’ve used it all already.
Day 5 - Nars pencil looks ok on. I’m not mad about it but it will get used.
Day 6 - not a fan of Dermalogica, but DD loves the brand, so one to pass on to her.
Day 7 - Perfume not for me. I’ve been wearing it for a couple of hours and the ‘dry down’ on my skin is no different to the initial spray. Really don’t like it at all. The bottle is nice though.

Joining please! Love to spoil myself with this calendar - it's my big present to myself and makes December days a bit fabulous.

I agree that this year some of the sizes have been a bit stingy. I don't like opening the drawer to find things that feel like hotel freebies.

So far v. happy with the Venn serum, Nars pencil and today's perfume - good handbag size, gorgeous bottle.. getting used to the musky scent..

KatharinaRosalie · 07/12/2020 13:36

Funny how the perfume smells different to everybody - some say sweet, some fresh, some musky.

Chickydoo · 07/12/2020 14:30

I really didn't like the perfume this morning, now I love it! I can smell lemons & tea, it's kind of warm & fresh at the same time.
How funny I didn't like it on first smell!

I was really tempted by this calendar this year but didn't move fast enough and it sold out. I have been reading this thread vicariously but I'm now not sure if I dodged a bullet as so many posting seem disappointed with what's they've had so far and it's a very expensive indulgence to not like it all, or a good 99% of it...

chloechloe · 07/12/2020 15:23

This was the one product I really didn’t like the sound of when I checked the contents in advance. Then when I read the card this morning I was completely sold by the advertising blurb. However having tried it I am really not keen. The first person to DM me can gladly have it (I’ve sprayed it once). It would be good for it to go to a nice home where it will get used!

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 17:36

I really love Liberty for its perfumes. I agree with a post above that Liberty gives you unusual gifts. I really like that. Mine was a present from my sister. I had stopped getting advent calendars because it made me feel a bit sick the way there was so much choice and you could comb through all the contents and they all gave the value etc.

Having a lovely sister definitely makes me appreciate this. She gave it to me the first year I got it as well. I don't think I would buy one for myself - not any brand

thecognoscenti · 07/12/2020 17:44

I'm really enjoying the chance to try new things, and give brands a go which I wouldn't otherwise. I suppose that's the point of it really. Some things I have liked more than others but there's nothing I've disliked.

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 18:04

that's it. I think costing adding up the value makes everything a bit dismal. I understand when you are buying it in the first place but...and I think the value of all of them is a little bit questionable since those sizes are quite often not normal sales sizes, and so the value is an inaccuracy in strict terms

MiaN · 07/12/2020 18:35

I am not expecting to get 700gbp value but do I hope to get 200? Yes, for sure. I also opened Cult beauty November and it's hard not to compare

supadupapupascupa · 07/12/2020 18:52

Surely if they advertised as a value at £700 it has to be that value??

Stokey · 07/12/2020 19:32

I found a list I wrote when deciding which calendar to get. There were 5 things in Liberty I want sure about, 3 of which we've had so that makes me feel positive. The perfume is quite different to what I normally wear, less body and lighter. I don't hate it but it doesn't smell like me, IYKWIM. It may work better in the summer. I quite like more vanilla, rose, sandalwood types in the winter.

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 19:37

Legitimately all these calendars have to be able to justify the value that they advertise. But I think it is questionable given that the sizes are often not normally sellable.

If I was going for value alone. I would just look up exactly what I wanted from all the calendars - and buy on ebay and then not get the stuff I didn't want.

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 19:38

Or rather, to avoid double negative: get exactly what I did want

Nc135 · 07/12/2020 19:44

@friendlyflicka yes but then you miss the entire emotional side of it all

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 19:47

But that's what I am saying, I would just forget the value side and enjoy it. I was answering all the people talking about low value items

Nc135 · 07/12/2020 19:54

@friendlyflicka ah sorry I have now read back. Yes i completely agree with you. Honestly I trust that they are going to be good value overall and then go with the flow. Part of the value is waking up in the morning and not knowing what I am going to find. I really don’t understand people who look at everything in advance first. You then lose the whole magic of the surprise. I have no idea what is coming. I did check my daughters advent calendar - I got her ASOS. She is 12 and it is amazing as is a lot of skin care and not a lot of make up. For her I would check. But for me I go with the flow

Nc135 · 07/12/2020 19:58

Ps I am of an age where I used to get excited about picture advent calendars as a kid! And recycled picture advent calendars too! We all here are spoilt Grin

mynameiscalypso · 07/12/2020 20:12

I totally agree that it's all about the emotional side and excitement of opening the box each morning and not knowing what's coming. The only time I was really disappointed was the year there was a tube of toothpaste in one of the boxes.

friendlyflicka · 07/12/2020 20:13

@Nc135 Me too. Loved the pictures. I am very pleased with mine. And yes I don't want I am getting and love the surprise. When you are a parent, rather than a child, it is quite a rare and lovely event
