Which product has made the most difference to your skin in terms of anti-ageing?

Just that really. What’s your wonder anti-ageing product?
I’m just past mid 30s and the crows feet are starting to make an appearance!
I’ve been using vit c and retinol for many years now - as well as a peptide serum in the mornings.
How do I get my gold back? Or is that it now? Grin

@HillaryWhitney can I ask why you have Botox on your eyebrows? What effect does it have? How much should you expect to pay and how frequently should you top it up? Thanks

I’m interested in the people who have said they didn’t like how Botox looked on them. I’ve never had it & doubt I will, tempting as it may be! The fact that it’s not really meant to be injected into skin scares me & I’d be concerned about side effects. I also see celebrities & I just think ‘she’s had Botox!’ Then there are celebrities like Jane Fonda who have had work done & look terrific but she probably had the top cosmetic surgeons in the world so the rest of us mere mortals are unlikely to get the same effect. I’ll stick with skincare for now!

Less is more with Botox ime, I have deep lines across my forehead and number elevens, I think I frown in my sleep because they're always worse in the mornings and the areas around are red. My resting face can be a bit angry.
I have enough Botox to freshen, prevent the pinkness when i wake up and make me not look angry, but when i go in I'm a clear i still want movement, i still expect lines and elevens just a bit softer without the angry resting face, my forehead looks cleaner and less cluttered but I'm not asking for smooth or to not look my age just a clearer happier more rested look.
When people want smooth they are more likely to get frozen. You don't and won't know the people who have good Botox and good fillers because they won't look like they have any at all you'll mentally put them in the category of someone who's having a good day if you know them. The last time i went to someone new for Botox and explained what i wanted he said "yes baby Botox" I'd never heard of that before but i think it might be a thing. My forehead still moves when i talk, I have an expressive face and my eyebrows don't do that hooky thing at the sides when i look up. The movement is restricted but it's still there enough to express emotion without looking weird.

I have used the Obagi stuff in the past and God I LOVED it, but sadly the cost was prohibitive to keep it up permanently ☹️

So is the ordinary shit then?

20 years ago, I lived in London. A friend of mine tried the (then brand new) Creme De La Mer £££ moisturiser and fell in love with it. She’s used it every since. She moved away and spent the next 20 years living in the Bahamas, working out at sea on yachts, in all that sunshine.

But kept using Creme De La Mer.

We met up recently and her skin is AMAZING. Considering her age (now 50s) and lifestyle (wine, fags, sea, sun) she looks incredible. I would love to go back in time and start using that stuff!

Personally, I recently stopped using Micellar water and started using cold cream (wiped off with a wet muslin cloth) to cleanse my face. I follow that with No7 retinol, Aldi serum, L’Oreal Revitalift, then a layer of Rosehip oil. And Botox. 😆 My skinnlooks good.

But I also lost a lot of weight, regained it, then lost it again. And that’s wrecked my face. The people that age well (IME) have been skinny their whole life. Weight fluctuations really speed-up the sagging.

i don't think the ordinary is shit at all goldfish, but there's only so much over the counter products can do was there a comparison of their retinol with prescription retinoids?

Could be genes. Does/did her mother look good for her age?

They’ve changed the way they make creme de la mer from what I’ve read online.

Can I ask - for those of you saying you've worn at least factor 30 SPF every single day for the last 20 years - which one do you use?!

I have tried so many and most of them give me spots or make me look very shiny. I can tolerate it in the summer but certainly not every day year round. Even the very lightest sunscreen I've found still feels unpleasant to wear every day.

I've tried to find a foundation/tinted moisturiser I like with spf in and still no luck, although as I understand it you don't use enough of those products for the spf to count.

Help!

I use solait spf 30-50. Try ultrasuns spf 50 mineral sunblock, it’s not oily or moisturising at all. It leaves a white cast but I give it 20 mins to absorb and put translucent powder on or foundation if I’m feeling fancy.

To those of you who say they use niacinamide, is that a cream or a vitamin supplement?

Clarins stuff. It is expensive, but I always see a difference when I use it.

@upsidedownroundabout Clarins spf 50 for Face is great, also heliocare 360 gel oil-free is really good too. Both can be worn under make up and no break-outs for me

loads of water
exercise (also helps you to drink more water)
enough sleep
Nutritious food
No smoking
Cut down on alcohol

My skin was brilliant- I didn't need foundation and got lots of comments on it - then I've fucked it lockdown by basically failing at most of the above (apart from I still don't smoke) and honestly I look like a corpse.

I use Image SPF 50 now but definitely not for the past 20 years!! Fair play to those who did but better late than never!

Whatever you put on your face will be useless unless you eat well, drink water, exercise and use sunscreen.
Why spend thousands of pounds? Water and fresh air are (mostly) free.
Yoga is good too.
I get age checked and I'm 50. I do all the above.

Watching thread with interest as hate the wrinkles above my lips. They’re the most ageing factor about may face.

My dm has always used Nivea in a blue tub and has fab skin, but my skin takes after my dad (greasy), rather than being dry.

Having oily skin. I am in my 40s and I don't have any wrinkles, no 11s, no crows feet. Consolation price for the curse of the shiny face in my 20s..

For products, can't beat fillers. Haven't needed botox yet, but fillers plump the skin up just enough so you look more fresh and youthful.
