Which product has made the most difference to your skin in terms of anti-ageing?

Just that really. What’s your wonder anti-ageing product?
I’m just past mid 30s and the crows feet are starting to make an appearance!
I’ve been using vit c and retinol for many years now - as well as a peptide serum in the mornings.
How do I get my gold back? Or is that it now? Grin

Do you need a retinol eye serum if you use tret? I had a nice one but gave up using it when I started dermatica tret, should I dig it back out?

Separatedandabitsad · 21/11/2020 12:59

You look great @QueenPaws I had more wrinkles at your age. Your skin looks dewy

Gettingthereslowly2020 · 21/11/2020 13:00

Which oil cleanser do you use?

Separatedandabitsad · 21/11/2020 13:01

I don’t know @Anotheruser02 but I’d like to know too. Do you need to avoid the eye area with Tret?

Those of you using Tret, can you go on using it indefinitely or will you just use it for a while?

MrsMiaWallis · 21/11/2020 13:03

Having really greasy skin as a teenager. People used to say I'd be grateful when I was 50 and I am.

I think botox is the only thing thst gets rid of wrinkles, although a good moisturiser and drinking loads of water helps.

StrippedFridge · 21/11/2020 13:07

Face yoga and taking cod liver oil supplements.

Coffee, wine, sugar and dairy all make my skin rotten after a a few days of having them daily.

I am in my late forties. Mother nature and father time are bastards the pair of them when they conspire against you.

Anotheruser02 · 21/11/2020 13:08

I'm never giving up my tret Separated

You do need to avoid the area but I saw a youtube video where this woman explained that the cream doesn't just soak downwards into the skin it soaks across too. I'll see if I can find it, hold on....

Sunblock.
Retinol (Indeed labs) which isn’t a miracle worker but has lovely smooth/glowy effect.

Lower-sugar diet than I used to in my 20s/30s. Not a product but it really makes the difference!

A balm cleanser. I look so much less dry which I think helps the anti-ageing effect.

Less makeup than in my 20s by a LONG way, especially eye makeup which seems to age me now.

That’s it!

Butterfly44 · 21/11/2020 13:16

@MrsMiaWallis Same here. I had acne in my teens and still have the occasional one of two every so often. 46 and no wrinkles at all which I'm sure it's due to oily skin. I'm thankful to look years younger...for now!

In terms of routine and lifestyle, I don't use any real skincare regime bar SPF moisturiser and cleanser. My diet isn't as healthy, I'm a stone overweight and could definitely do better. More fuller face, maybe that's my Botox equivalent 😂

Newuser991 · 21/11/2020 13:24

Prevention

I have been using serum and also Clinique City block SPF 40 since my late 20s.

I have no crows feet and very few lines. No "11" etc. I'm in my late 30s.

QueenPaws · 21/11/2020 13:26

@Anotheruser02 I use a separate retinol eye cream as my tret is irritating near my eyes

Soontobe60 · 21/11/2020 13:33

Apart from a spell of bad rosacea in my 50s, my skin has always been fairly good. Over the years I’ve used products ranging from eye watering lay expensive, to supermarket own brands. I’ve honestly not seen any difference regardless what I’ve used!
Now, I use a hot wash cleanser every morning, and a moisturising serum. Both from Aldi!!! I have very few wrinkles, just getting some very slight mouth lines, no forehead lines at all. I’m 61, have freckle skin so try to keep my face out of the sun as much as possible.
I haven’t smoked for 35 years, am a bit overweight (the fat plumps out she wrinkles🤣), eat some meat, do some exercise and don't drink nearly enough water.
I truly believe that paying through the nose for skincare is a waste of time - the results are unproven as these products are cosmetics, not medicines, so don't need rigorous trials. If you look at some of the small print on adverts it’ll say something like ‘75 women noticed an improvement after X weeks’ and there may have been 200 people who tested it. That’s not great odds. It’s pure vanity.

Separatedandabitsad · 21/11/2020 13:44

@Anotheruser02

So kind of you. Thank you so much. My tret’s in the post as part of acne treatment.

Separatedandabitsad · 21/11/2020 13:50

@Newuser991

I won’t lie - I’m jealous! When I see people like you I often wonder how they do it.

I have 11’s, smile lines, crows’ feet and now lots of fine lines on my cheeks when I smile! I’m 40 & a bit embarrassed as this thread seems to be full of people with amazing skin. Ah well!

Ethelfleda · 21/11/2020 16:29

I guess I’m not doing too badly
Am mid 30s - no 11 and just a very, very beginnings of a couple of smile lines and crows feet. Keep getting asked for ID for alcohol (although I think that’s down to the mask wearing!)
Wanted to try and attack these beginnings of lines before they become too stubborn to do anything about!

Thank you for your replies everyone Smile

QueenPaws your skin is beautiful.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 21/11/2020 21:36

@Pugsley87 the vitamin c paste is from "Alpha H" which I buy from Adore Beauty online. I'm in Australia but I'm pretty sure they ship internationally or maybe even sell in UK?

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 21/11/2020 21:39

@Ethelfleda it's by Alpha H and I buy it from Adore Beauty. I am based in Australia but looks like you could get their products from Cult Beauty or Beauty Bay online. I also use the Alpha H liquid gold every second or third night (it's not retinol but supposed to have a similar effect I think). But I find that quite drying.

startingtosmileagain · 21/11/2020 23:07

Where can you get prescription Tret please?

startingtosmileagain · 21/11/2020 23:11
@Ethelfleda yes prescription retinol is harsh at first. It took me 3 months for my skin to settle. But it settles. For me it proved it was actually doing something. And it does. My skin is a lot better since using it.
Where do you get your high strength retinol from @Nc135?

Nc135 · 22/11/2020 05:24

@startingtosmileagain so I went to a specialist face clinic near where I live and got put on the obagi system. That includes tretinoin, and spf 50, and some vitamin c products. Basically all the stuff that works. Now I am on it I can pop in there and buy just the tretinoin.

Nc135 · 22/11/2020 05:34

@startingtosmileagain here is a link to obagi products and how to find a clinic near you that prescribes them and tretinoin. This is the skincare that really works. Over the counter stuff is a waste of money IMO.

I have good skin and I do very little to it as otherwise it becomes sensitive. Hot cloth wash and Even occasionally make up wipes (biodegradable ones). Use Nivea. No fancy creams.

My actual skin is good. I’m not very wrinkly at 53 but I have started to see looseness around the jowls etc. That’s just muscle tone loss and gravity though. Not sure a cream can reverse that.

NorbertMeubles · 22/11/2020 07:53

Ponds Cold Cream. It makes my skin feel like velvet.
