Which product has made the most difference to your skin in terms of anti-ageing?

Just that really. What’s your wonder anti-ageing product?
I’m just past mid 30s and the crows feet are starting to make an appearance!
I’ve been using vit c and retinol for many years now - as well as a peptide serum in the mornings.
How do I get my gold back? Or is that it now? Grin

@Zippetydoodahzippetyay

Oh I forgot. I've also recently started using an oil cleanser and oil instead of moisturiser. My dry skin drinks it up and is looking so much healthier.

Which oil cleanser do you use please ? Need some recommendations please.

In my early 40s and no wrinkles as yet, but have noticed loss of elasticity in my skin which I'm currently doing a course of Fillerina for (no injection fillers you can do at home). I also still suffer from breakouts which are a pain in the arse.

I use Tretinoin from Dermatica and a gorgeous K beauty cleanser with Centalla Asiatica in it which is both anti acne and plumps up skin. It's also featured in Facetheory's Plumping PolyPep serum which is lovely. I switch between Matrixyl and buffet with copper and do love a good Facetheory moisturiser. Ceraquench is a good hydrating one and they do a great light one with niacinamide and vit c. DH has been using them for about 6 months and he looks quite honestly 10 years younger!

If the Fillerina doesn't work to my satisfaction I'm going to get fillers. I'm not messing around Wink

Oh and of course factor 50, every day, and have since I was early 20s, which has probably been the main saviour so far!

@Juniland
It's a brand called Dermalogica and the cleanser is called "precleanse". You're supposed to use it as a first step and then so a second cleanse with something else after but I often find it's enough on its own.

niacinamide has been a game changer for me.

I've dry skin and it's really made a difference.

The best bit is I've ditched a load of expensive creams as it's in Olay regenerist (they do a serum also).

It's usually £30 but I find lots of places discount it (I got my last batch half price at Tesco so bought 2) and right now Superdrug are selling it for £16.

My skincare is now I use a cleansing balm (currently Elemis) then pop on the Olay morning and night then a couple of nights a week I add in the Olay serum. Job done.

All the places that used to get dry/flakey in autumn/winter have gone with the advantage my T-zone is no longer getting clogged by using heavy thick moisturiser/facial oils.

Lines noticeably improved also - not that I'm hugely burdened on that front but definitely notice the difference round my eyes if I stop using niacinamide.

I am absolutely NOT affiliated to Olay by the way in any regard!!!

I used to love the M&S sleep cream and I still like it, but the Olay is better due to the niacinamide.

Those using oil cleansers, which ones fo you recommend please?

And if you do double cleansing, in what order do you use the oil cleaner?

Nothing works. I'm still ageing!
I think the only product scientifically proven to work is Tretinoin. I've got Retirides, but don't use it very often and haven't noticed that it does anything.
The Ordinary products don't do anything and in addition are not very nice to use.

"I started getting crows’ feet and smile lines in my 20s (which one friend kindly pointed out!)."

I also had crows feet in my 20s. A 'friend' also pointed it out to me, but I think it's quite normal that in your late 20s, you'll have small lines around your eyes.
Then in my 30s, some frown line/11s that were mainly visible to me and partly covered by makeup, but that by now in my 40s are very prominent. Then the nasio-labial lines and sagging that just gets worse from the 30s to the 30. From late 30s lines on the neck, then a bit of a turkey neck and now a double chin (thanks Zoom!).

When I read people on here claim that wrinkles start in your 40s, I wonder what planet I'm on. Pretty normal to get them from late twenties or thirties and I'm not someone who looks particularly old for my age.

"diminished under eye shadows that I found using the now withdrawn Neutrogena light mask"

What? Something you can do at home diminishes eye shadows! I need to know more about this, even if withdrawn. There's a thread about this problem open at the moment.

"You do need to avoid the area but I saw a youtube video where this woman explained that the cream doesn't just soak downwards into the skin it soaks across too. I'll see if I can find it, hold on...."

I think I've seen that. The woman was very conservative about where she put it on. I've been putting my retirides over most of my face and no problems so far...

Yes it took a while to build up but I put Tret right on my orbital bones to blast the wrinkles there. For ages I had to put Vaseline round my eyes while using tret to stop irritation in my eyes. Now it’s fine. Though I do use Dermatica which is a better formulation than the Ketrel I was using.

[quote Nc135]@startingtosmileagain here is a link to obagi products and how to find a clinic near you that prescribes them and tretinoin. This is the skincare that really works. Over the counter stuff is a waste of money IMO.

Thanks @Nc135. Yes my clinic has already recommended Obagi -elastiderm for my eyes and Vit c 20% but I’ve been hesitant as very expensive and no reviews on line. Good to hear you recommend it. What in particular are you using and for what?

I have used several, but at the moment really like this one from the Edinburgh Natural Skincare Co. It smells divine!

Always use the oil cleanser first, then your milk/foaming cleanser (or a second go with the oil cleanser).

Maybe I'm wrong but even the rich and famous look their age if you take away the special lighting, makeup, airbrushing etc. Look up candid photos of them without makeup. Shock

If there was any magical lotion or potion these people would be using it and we'd see the difference.

You are right in that ageing skin starts way before the 40s;

askthescientists.com/aging/

"This intrinsic aging process actually starts before your forties. In fact, after age 20, your skin produces one percent less collagen each year. So, by your forties you’ve probably noticed a difference in your skin’s appearance."
