@Dottty I think it will look great with grey hair - mine should be delivered to my local Waitrose tomorrow so I hope it works out. I really think there are few things better than buying gorgeous clothes at half price, just so satisfying, the sense of hunting things down 🤓

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2021 18:53

Biscuit Jeans arrived from JL, going back.. they are too wide in the leg and the heavy fabric, means that width just doesn't work.. ( sticky out rather than flow) .. shame really otherwise a nice style, colour is good and like the patch pockets and for once I could do the waist up on a 12 ..!!

Hi everyone! I'm back from the abyss.

I managed to get my wool gabis in the sale!! And I looove them. They're just as I had hoped. I was very angelic and only got the trousers (I've put myself on a shopping ban). They fit really nicely, these are the 12 and they're a bit snugger than usual gabis. My cord ones are a bit loose in a 12 but the wool is less forgiving. Anyway I'm thrilled with them and so happy I waited for the second sale Grin

@Saurus72, @Dottty, I’m a shirt triplet! I nabbed the Oxford heather in my size this morning. So thrilled as I’ve been layering shirts over my wool tencel tops and under my new knits for the past two freezing weeks. I reckon these aren’t returns, by the way, I imagine that JL has called in all its Toast merchandise from closed stores around the nations in order to sell it online?

Moominmammaatsea · 11/01/2021 19:43

@MaizeBlouse, the trousers look fab on you (I love your belt!). I’m very late to the Gabi party but I nabbed a pair of the slate cord version in the JL sale and I’m sold. Ditto a pair of navy and charcoal Alix (previously, I could never understand the love for the Alix!)

Saurus72 · 11/01/2021 21:20

@Moominmammaatsea ah good point re: closed shops. Maybe more stock will come online, it would make sense.

AFingerofFudge · 12/01/2021 09:06

Anyone who likes the Toast denim dungarees, a few pairs have popped up on JL just now!

AFingerofFudge · 12/01/2021 09:07

For half price, I meant to say!

Saurus72 · 12/01/2021 09:48

My two sale dress purchases arrived and good lord, the chalkboard dress is one of my favourite Toast dresses for a really long time. So flattering, and very bad photos on their website because IRL it doesn’t look brown at all, which was my fear. I will definitely need to wear heels with it and a bit of jewellery so it doesn’t tip over into looking Amish (just not the right look for me!). Love it so much - £48!!

In fact, the website has gone a bit bonkers this morning- things popping in and out constantly- must resist!!!

AFingerofFudge · 12/01/2021 09:55

@Saurus72 that chalkboard dress is gorgeous, it looks so much better in real life than when it was on the website. I got to see one in the shop sometime last year (in the olden days when we went to shops) and it was lovely!

Saurus72 · 12/01/2021 10:01

I’m sitting here pressing the refresh button on the JL Toast page 😊 - just missed the graphic yoke jumper, boo. But ever hopeful for whatever’s next!

Moominmammaatsea · 12/01/2021 10:01

@Saurus, I told you so - there’s no way I would have let you buy a BROWN dress! 😱 It’s one of my favourite purchases of recent times, though I embrace full Amish as I wear mine with a charcoal grey cardigan, charcoal tights and my black Solovair boots.

Saurus72 · 12/01/2021 10:12

Hey, if you can pull that look off I’m jealous, the shoes will be much comfier 😊. I really wish the other colour wasn’t mustard yellow or I would snap it up. It’s really a hidden gem and I can’t wait to wear it out in the wild. When Toast gets it right I really think there’s nowhere better to buy clothes.

AmethystMoonShine · 12/01/2021 10:24

@Saurus72 you look fab in the chalkboard. It’s one of my favourites too.

faustina · 12/01/2021 10:50

@Saurus72 - that is lovely! On their website, or JL?

Saurus72 · 12/01/2021 10:56

Thanks! @AFingerofFudge @AmethystMoonShine.

@faustina - Toast, it keeps popping in and out of stock. The last time I looked the mustard one is there but £70 I think.

Laska2Meryls · 12/01/2021 11:06

Lots of returns on both Toast and JL
That green fairlise jumper is back in S whoever was looking for it..

Just got the needle cord dress in slate blue, a 10 popped up on the Toast site (well there were 2) just one now!Grin
Been wearing my ginger tiered cord dress loads and wished I bought it in blue too. Hopeful this style will suit.

Memo7 · 12/01/2021 13:02

@Laska2Meryls thanks it was me looking for the green fair isle jumper, but it was the Shetland one. Managed after a good few weeks looking to get both the small and large, medium one is eluding me though! The small is a perfect fit but not overly loose which I like (usually get a m) so I scored a large yesterday and going to give that a try too. It’s a beautiful jumper though, I’m over the moon to have got it in the sale.
I saw the other green fair isle yoke one on this morning, which is brown in the body. Was a bit tempted to buy that too but they only had a small and the reviews said it was a small fit for toast jumpers so I left it.
There’s nothing better than sale stalk shopping, makes it that much rewarding when it arrives and you love it ☺️

Moominmammaatsea · 12/01/2021 14:34

Loads more on JL now...thrilled to have spotted the Jude wool trousers for half price.

faustina · 12/01/2021 14:41

So pleased you found it @Memo7 - hope one of them fits the bill!

I've been trying to find the fisherman's rib jumper in a small. I have it coming in a medium but I'd quite like to try the small too, given the pot luck sizing thing. If anyone spots it, could you please let me know? and if anyone has it and can let me know how it fits, that would be great too!

sitting here with a pile of disappointment from the Brora sale which all needs to go back - and a jumper which I saw looking amazing on someone on MN from Whitestuff which. is a brand I don't know. It is lovely, but it's got quite a lot of synthetic something in it and it's really static-y, so I'm not sure whether to keep. Is there anything I can do to remove the static?

FiddleFigs · 12/01/2021 15:55

Has anyone tried/bought the Ono leaf print Agnes dress? I've been umming over it for a while - it's down to £60 now, so quite tempted ...

NoCureForLove · 12/01/2021 19:11

It really is an addictive sport!
I have just ordered more that's appeared on the Toast site... to the same value as what I'm about to return - the gold culottes were too short but otherwise lovely and the needlecord pleat dress just didn't sit right on me sadly and was not as useful as my tiered one.

Have consoled myself with ANOTHER denim dress, stripy Tencel top and a gamble on a green silk pj shirt.

Dottty · 12/01/2021 19:33

This may not be popular. I have been disappointed with Toast for the last more than year. I have been a longstanding customer since before 2000. I think they have lost the plot. Their styling is safe and lacklustre. Their inflated prices and diminishing standards are disappointing. I agree with a lot of their high profile followers. Sadly this brand is no longer for me. These clothes make me look and feel 20 years more that my age .I am now reverting to the original contemporary EU designers I have always loved. Goodbye frumpy and safe .. but I will still buy safe knitwear and jersey.
